I have been salivating for the final book in this miniseries of The Cuelebre Family. We get such a holiday treat from Ms. Harrison with this way-to-short-I-wish-it-were-longer-but-I’ll-read-anything-she-writes story.

Liam is growing up FAST. Well, his body and his dragon is anyway. He’s still relatively young in every other area and his dragon is pushing him to mature faster than his mind can. Liam is struggling with the immense power his Wyr form holds and he is experiencing some monumental growing pains.

Pia and Dragos often struggle with parenting, especially since this is new territory for everyone. There are a lot of surprises in this short read and instead of commenting on them, all I can say is that this is a greatly anticipated read and I loved every word of it!

I am so excited to see where the Elder Races will go next. The dynamics are constantly changing and I’m absolutely fascinated and completely enthralled. Thank you Ms. Harrison for this wonderful read. Happy Holidays to you as well!

***I was gifted an eBook copy from the publisher via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. All conclusions reached are my own***

I enjoyed this short, but poignant end to the three series arc that began with Dragos Goes To Washington. Liam has grown rapidly once again to the point where he is an adult in body, but still quite young in mind. He feels frustrated at wanting his independence from his parents knowing he does not have the experience or training to take the position that Dragos promised Liam could try for in Shadow’s End. Dragos would be a challenging father for anyone but most especially a young dragon who chaffs at being reined in by very protective parents. Because of a loss and other Wyr dynamics, his feelings are in turmoil. As Liam strives for independence and to find his own place in the world not overshadowed by his father, he makes some decisions that will put an interesting spin on future stories.

After reading Shadow’s End, this story was a balm as well as a Christmas gift.

~ 4 Liam Takes Stars ~

Liam Takes Manhattan is a shot story in the Elder Races series by Thea Harrison.

This short is meant to be read after Shadow's End. Yes, their are spoilers for Shadow's End in this story, so read the novel first or be warned.

I enjoyed the insight into Liam. He’s such a unique being that it puts him in a tough situation. Add in that he is now a teenager in less time then it takes other Wyr to grow and you have a character trying to find their place in the Wyr world and battle the growing pains of being a teenager/adult. He is currently at a crossroads, feeling lost in all areas of his life and wants/needs to find out who he is.

By the end I was left wanting more. The ending does an abrupt end at a point when things are just getting more interesting. Many readers will probably not like this. I am hopeful the author will finish where the plot was going with another novella.

If you love this series, it’s a must read. It’s told so well and flushes out a characters that has become one of my favorites the day he was conceived.

Liam Cuelebre has never been a normal kid, and following the events of SHADOW'S END, it's clear this young dragon may not be any type of kid at all anymore. With his accelerated growth and highly unusual origins, Liam can be a tough character to relate to and believe in. Harrison has carefully developed him through the Elder Races novellas, however, and from a cameo in DRAGOS TAKES A HOLIDAY to center stage in PEANUT GOES TO SCHOOL, his point of view has kept apace with his accelerated maturation. LIAM TAKES MANHATTAN marks another special milestone for him, his graduation from cute side character to "I need his book now" main attraction. LIAM TAKES MANHATTAN is an excellent chance to get a flavor for Liam's new, grownup narration and I can't wait for an entire book devoted to the young prince.

Sexual Content: None.

According to author Thea Harrison Shadows End finishes the this part of the Elder Races story arc and Liam Takes Manhattan puts Liam in a new position for future stories.

Liam has grown to match his dragon and is now a young adult. Like many that age he is at odds with his Father, Dragos. Something has to give and in the end Liam finds a solution they can all live with
.
This is a nice visit with Pia, Dragos and Liam. While it does stand alone you need to be familiar with the series for it to make sense. If you are a fan of the series you will not want to skip finding out how Liam and his parents come to an understanding setting up future stories.

LIAM TAKES MANHATTAN is the November 2015 novella in Thea Harrison’s Elder Races paranormal, romance series. LTM is the third installment in Thea’s three story novella series focusing on the Cuelebre family. This is Liam’s storyline-Liam is Dragos and Pia’s son-who has reached Wyr maturity before his first birthday.

Told from close third person point of view (Liam) LIAM TAKES MANHATTAN focuses on the trials and tribulations of growing up Wyr. Liam will one day be one of the most powerful Wyr’s in existence-with both his mother and father’s magical DNA-but that doesn’t help Liam at this particular moment in time. His parents still see Liam as a young boy-barely one year old- but Liam is a dragon shifter and with it comes size, strength and the power of most adult Wyrs. As our young shifter struggles to find his place in the world, his parents must come to terms with letting go of their eldest child.

LIAM TAKES MANHATTAN is a sweet storyline; where the angst of teen drama is compromised and compounded by DNA that has forced a young boy to grow up too fast in a world of magic and the supernatural. The reader has a front row seat into the Cuelebre family dynamics: the parents who want what is best for their child; and a young man whose grief over the loss of his friend pulls at the heart of his ever, growing dragon. Liam needs to move on to discover his place in the world, and what he wants isn’t necessarily what his parents had planned for his future.

Thea Harrison writes a fantastic and magical story that will be familiar to many families with children trying to make their way into the world-too soon they grow up and take on adult responsibilities when we sit back letting anxiety and worry wash over our breaking hearts.

I love this series, and all the characters, but Dragos/Pia/Liam hold a special place for me. So this novella trilogy has been a real treat, and I especially enjoyed Liam's story rounding things out. His incredibly rapid growth made him a bit of an unknown, and this peek inside his head really opened things up. I mean abstractly while he showed to be very intelligent and extremely fast developmentally, both I and Pia/Dragos still saw him as only a child. But what else could you expect when you consider that technically he's less than a year old. This novella while incredibly short showed a turning point for Liam, and paved the way for full novel(s) from his perspective. After reading this and the previous two installments in this novella trilogy, I'm only more desperate for the next book in this fantastic series, a sure sign of a great read. A perfect bonus treat for fans of the series, LIAM TAKES MANHATTAN is not to be missed.

Liam Takes Manhattan is a novella that is part of a three story arc featuring Dragos, Pia and their son, Liam. It's the third and the shortest story.

It can be read individually, but you will have an even more enjoyable experience if you read all three in order.

The other stories have already been released. The first is Dragos Goes to Washington and the second is Pia Takes Hollywood.

If you don't like spoilers, you should read Shadow's End before reading Liam Takes Manhattan. It has an important spoiler from Shadow's End and your reading experience will not be the same.

Liam was very much affected by recent events. He has trouble coming to terms with what happened and he has become more withdrawn into himself. His feral side is too close to the surface and he is more dangerous. His latest growth spurt has left him more dissatisfied with his life. He doesn't know what his role is in the Wyr demesne. He's stronger and faster than anyone else besides Dragos, but without the skills that only years of experience can bring. He wants to find his own place in the world and doesn't want to live in his father's shadow. It's not easy for Dragos and Pia either. They are very protective of him. Liam ages and grows very quickly and they have to adjust how they treat him every time he grows. It hasn't been an entire year yet and he is almost grown up.

This story is not as action packed as the other two. It's more sweet and it focuses entirely on Liam. I enjoyed reading it very much and I hope we will get to see what Liam does next. It's been entertaining to see him grow into what he is now. In Liam Takes Manhattan, he demonstrates that he can be responsible, make informed decisions and fight for what he wants. I loved Pia and Dragos's gift for Liam and the Christmas feel at the end.

Received book through NetGalley for an honest review.

Very short story of Liam and his sudden change in life.

Having read most of the stories prior to this one it was easy to follow. It gives some insight into Liam.

This was some publisher's bright idea to make money. 52 pages with hardly any substance. A very disappointing set-up for a future novel. Not what I wanted at all. Sick sense of commercializing a popular author. I was looking forward to the real thing, not a teaser. You should all be ashamed. Merry Christmas my a--. I asked for my money back and I've never done that on kindle, before. I'm really angry over this. Hope you all get your act together, soon.

Hmmm, well I finished Liam Takes Manhattan (Elder Races) and without saying a lot, the the store Kindle price is $1.99 for 55 pages and not sure if it is worth that much. It really is more of a slice of life for Liam, Pia and Dragos with a touch of "coming of age" mess. A few cute things but really nothing much happens but a LOT of stuff point towards a future book or spinoff for Liam that might be really interesting and this novella gives you some insight while setting it up but does not actually take much of anything to fulfillment (and NO there is nothing that even looks like a romance). There is one very interesting meeting that may be a 1 time thing but no way to tell. I wanted to give this 4 or 5 Stars like I did the other 2 novellas but there is no way it rates more than 3 for a "day in the life" and a couple of interesting "almost" things.

Bottom Line: Here is the thing, even though not a whole lot happens if you are reading this series you almost got to read these novellas to keep up with the progress of life in this world so spend your $1.99 (or $3.99 for DTB) and consider it a down payment on a good book later in the series :)

Intermediate little story, made to mediate the passage to self publishing. I will give her another chance but it is going to be the last one because I'm afraid that this series already said all that it has to said, even if Dragos and Pia are two of my favorite characters ever.
