A bit more rough language than what I am comfortable with but the good story line and local flavor kept me reading. Reluctant however,to recommend to others. The Life We Bury is still my favorite from this author.

Detective bother Max and Alexander discover that the victim of a car accident has been hiding for years in Minneapolis under a false identity. The story explains why that is and how the hidden identity is connected to a crime that happened years before which reaches into corruption at the highest levels. It's a gripping tail and the gradual reveal of the differing characters and motivations of the two brothers has several believable surprises that adds to the sense of real character. Some of the minor characters aren't so well drawn and Alexander's wife and the woman he falls for, in particular, seem close to stock descriptions, but they don't detract from the overall sense of a mystery well told. What is infuriating are the number of grammatical and language errors. It is not "off, of", it is simply "off" but it is a "couple of" not a "couple detectives". There are also repeats of information from one page to the other. Editors anyone?
