These books by Brackston are somewhat interesting but there's too much "talk" and not enough action. She's too wordy for the most part - you get the impression she's trying to build up her work by talking and talking and talking.

Very well written. Love the insight into Welsh countryside and live-stock farming. You feel like you're there! A delightful surprise find! A gem of a book! Looking forward to reading all the the other witch books!

A well executed story. Full of innocence, evil, love and loyalty as only Brackston can manage. Her view of witches is more than magic but a tale addressing daily problems of envy, greed and intolerance of our daily lives through the innocence of a lovely young witch.

Not as engaging and interesting as her other novels. I found myself having to push myself to finish it. I was disappointed in the content and context of this novel. The characters personalities were not as well developed.

I found the book very interesting. I couldn't stop reading it to see what happened next. It was full of amazing things and quite normal things. They had some very hard times as well. So the book ran the whole gammit. I am looking forward to Paula Brackstons' next book.

Paula Brackston does a really nice job in this book developing the characters and setting. I'm looking forward to reading the other books in her "Witch" series. I'm a little sad that they are apparently stand-alone stories with different characters, as I looked forward to hearing more about Morgana and Cai.

I like Paula Brackston's work very much and would recommend this book. The Winter Witch is written in a style that reminds me of classic fairy tales. Will good triumph over evil? Will love prevail? Do read this book.

Absolutely love the way this woman writes! I cannot wait to read more books by her. She is so engaging, and inspiring. My imagination runs wild reading through the pages that paint such vivid and lovely scenes.

I enjoyed The Winter Witch. It was well written and engaging. I would have liked to see more character development for the housekeeper, though. She had potential to add some interesting layers to the story. I would recommend this book for readers who like full, comprehensive scenic descriptions. The plot and character development was good.

After reading her book "The Witches Daughter", I was so pleased to find she had another story on the way, and ordered it.
The Winter Witch is historical fiction and a great read! The kind of book that ends to quickly.
I will follow her for her next work.

The story was boring, and the writing was awkward and distracting. I felt like everything wrapped up too neatly in the end, but at the same time many plot points remained ambiguous making me wish there was more depth and less prose. I did not think it was cleverly written. I had higher expectations.
