Maybe because Mrs. Border wrote a longer book, than what she usually does, I felt Nathan's inner monologue went on forever and repeated several times through the book. I felt the plot could have been developed more, with more action. It had a couple of interesting chapters but still not the best book I've read by her. I'm not giving up on this series and Mrs. Boldryder. I'll wait for the next installment

I volunteered to leave a review after reading this book. It might have been a bit since we have seen a new book by Terry Bolryder. But, when you read this one, you will understand. She took her time to write this wonderful book. This is book one of three but, can be read as a stand alone. Nathan and his brothers have been looking for her to come. She was suppose to be there two years ago. But, she has never shown up. Nathan and his brothers feel they are monsters. They are what nightmares are made of, well they think they are. Who is she? Well, reading the books we will find out. But, with Nathan, he keeps writing down all he does in a ledger to show how he has helped humans. Lillian is a journalist. She really wants to get a story from Nathan to find out exactly what kind of man he is and what his secrets are. She never expected to have feelings for him. But, will he ever return the feelings?? Well, pick this one up and start the journey of these nightmare dragons. I have a good feeling this journey will be a fun one with lots of excitement.

A new and darker series for Bolryder this time out. Nathan and his brothers are not sure what they are. Except evil and full of darkness. They know they are cursed and called abominations and we know they were apparently given some sort of task by their creator when they were cast out into our world where they have been 'for a hundred years"
Okay first, that had better be some plot device because otherwise the editing for continuity sucks. Early on Nathan comments he's using a notebook now to keep track of his tasks but that's changed over time as new methods of writing things down evolve and later his brother says he's seen cities rise & fall. So maybe they have no sense of time passing? Or maybe Bolryder meant "thousands" or "hundreds" instead of just one hundred. I understand keeping things from readers in the interest of suspense, it took practically the whole book for Nathan to admit (or maybe realize) he was a dragon of some sort, but I found this part jarring.
Lillian is a very suspicious human reporter who has noticed that Nathan, a beloved philanthopist, is frequently at sites of crimes and is wondering if he is the savior everyone thinks he is, or if he is the cause of things so he can come in and be the savior. She stalks him, eventually has a conversation with him and he invites her into his life to investigate to her hearts content, knowing he caused none of those things. When she gains a stalker he moves her in with him to keep her safe.
But he does have a secret. Unlike other dragons who can control their change, his comes on him after midnight, whether he wants it to or not. He has been given the gift of seeing visions of things that are going to happen. He goes out in the darkness (occasionally the daylight) and saves people and if the perpetrator has a soul of evil & Nathan sees them going on do to more dark deeds, then Nathan 'feeds' on them.
Lillian comes to care deeply for Nathan, then a situation arises and she sees Nathan feeding. Can she cope?
We've never had a hero dragon going out regularly to kill humans before, even humans who deserve it. I originally thought the Oracle might have created these dragons but she has fairly strict rules about killing humans so now I wonder who did. I spent most of the book wondering if Nathan even was a dragon (despite the title) because the way he was only partially described when he changed. He could have been any sort of nightmare monster, as he kept referring to himself and his brothers.
I'm looking forward to the next 2 books because I want to know who created them and why and just how many years have they been among humans and what sort of powers do they have, apart from being able to identify evil in a human & put people to sleep.
Great read overall.

This book is much darker than the other dragon shifter books but that was to be assumed by the name Nightmare Dragon, It wasn't until 3/4 of the way through the book that I realized this book had a twinge of social commentary in it. With the mention of horrible real life tragedies that we see on the news, I began to think that this book was written to convey the darkness in the shifter world. I found the first part of the book a bit muddled and repetitive. The length of the book did not add to my enjoyment of it. I did like the visit to Chromium.s restaurant. It brought back the stories of the lighter feeling dragon shifters that I have previously enjoyed reading about. The last quarter of this book made the whole story for me. I liked the conflict with the brother. I have a feeling he might be the next book, Maybe Dare and Sasha? The happy ending that I really appreciate from these stories came through and saved this book for me. I prefer the shorter books and could feel the connections between the couples immediately. With this longer book it was tougher to feel the love connection from the start. It did develop but it took longer to get there. I have a feeling more of the story will develop with the next book and maybe then some of the things mentioned about the dragons in this book will make sense. I recommend giving this book a try and hopefully by the end of the series everything will be explained.

Nathan and Lillian - first, let me say that I’ve read all of Terry’s “Dragon” books and I love them! Having said that, this book is a little darker than her prior books with a different twist to the dragons.

Nathan and his brothers feel that they are monsters and should not have any personal involvement with humans. Lillian is a journalist and is trying to get an interview with Nathan because his picture shows up in a lot of crime scenes and she’s trying to find out if he’s involved in committing the crimes or if he’s a vigilante. When she sneaks into his building and comes face to face with Nathan, he’s intrigued that she’s not afraid of him and is even argumentative with him. Nathan makes a deal with Lillian to work with him for a week and the attraction between the two of them escalates. Great book!

Midnight is the first book in a new series. Right off the bat I knew this would be different from her other books. I was intrigued from the start, and as the book goes on, you get to unravel the mystery of these new dragons. Not all is given away in the first book, but I anticipate that more is to come in the others. The dynamic between Nathan (who we met briefly in a previous book) and Lillian is intense right off the bat. Unlike the other dragon books, these dragons have a different view of humans, and aren't looking for mates as their purpose in life. This book is longer than others, but it keeps your attention throughout. I am anxiously waiting for the next book in this series, and I hope they will unite with the other dragons at some point, even though they are much different.

I loved this new Nightmare Dragon series for several reasons. First of all the length of the story was fantastic! I have always wanted longer stories from this author. She is very talented. Nathan and Lillian are strong characters that held their own for the entire duration. This story was darker, but the author tied everything together where it made the hero have a heart and purpose. She worked the heroin to compliment him in every way. Lillian was a very strong woman who meshed well with his creature. I love the fact that Nathan has two brothers and that they were both featured in Nathan's story to give us a glimpse of what's to come.

In addition, there was the bonus of having a wee glimpse of previous characters that have touched my heart before which was Chromium and Helen. In that regard, I would have wanted more of those characters in this story and in the upcoming stories because even though Chromium is mentioned we don't get to visit with him and I would love that.

We witness a little bit of the internal struggle that Dare faces and some of me hopes that his "almost snack" would end up being his match in the long run.

I hope this author keeps the length of the next two stories as long as Nathan and Lillian's story was... for it makes for great reading. I definitely will be purchasing the next two. I hope this author takes to heart what I have expressed. I own all of this author storied and I have truly enjoyed them and I have reviewed them sincerely. I hope the next book comes out very soon and we don't have too wait too long.

Terry Bolyryder has a new book !!!!

I got an advanced copy to read and I am giving an honest review.

First, let me say that this book is darker than any in her previous series. Nathan has a monster in him. He is the thing that nightmares are made of. At midnight, he is compelled to change into the monster and “feed”. Sounds ominous.

I didn’t know if I was going to be rooting for him or not. His sweet side won me over. Plus, he does all he can to help people.

Lillian is a journalist who is determined to find the dirt about Nathan. She was so sure that he is evil that she is doggedly persistent in trying to find out more about him so she can write the investigative story of her career.

Nathan is trying to balance dealing with the monster inside of him and his budding feelings for Lillian. At the same time, Lillian is dealing with the fact that she is a woman who does not like keeping secrets, but she is hugely attracted to man who has this secret life after midnight!

I could understand why Nathan was not more forthcoming. He did not exactly have the most nurturing upbringing. There was no point of reference for him to know what was love or family or even happiness.

On the other hand, Lillian seemed to be too bitter for me. But considering her past, I made allowances for her behavior. I am glad that she gave Nathan a chance because he deserved to be loved.

Lillian was certain she had the exclusive of a lifetime. Nathan Lancaster had to be a criminal. He had to be behind the devastating disasters he always seems to be just on the edge of. He might be a billionaire, but she was determined to get the story, the true story. She just didn’t know that she’d fall in love with the man who always disappears at midnight.

I don’t even know how to describe Midnight. And that is the honest truth. This story is twice the length of Ms Bolryder’s usual shifter romances. And to say that there is an incredible story packed into that word count would be an understatement. On this one, I find I do not want to say much of anything at all, except what an amazing story, and a captivating couple Nathan and Lillian make. There are secrets, some that we probably will slowly throughout the series learn the depth of, for now we have the beginning and I find that is enough.

Come along for the journey of a journalist who desires the truth, and a being of the night who cannot allow his truth to be known.

I highly recommend Midnight, and I’m now on tender-hooks waiting for the next story.

I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

I typically love Terry’s books and this one was a little off from the beginning. I really felt like I was reading Fifty shades of grey again. Very slow start and seemed to drag on without any real substance. I did like when stuff started picking up between Nate and Lillian but it took awhile to get there. Most of Terry’s books have more adventure and mystery involved and plenty of tension. This was borderline what she normally writes and I think that is mainly because she was wanting to write a longer story to draw people in. But I say to Terry.. do you! All your other dragon books are phenomenal regardless of their semi-short lengths. I prefer those over the sense of losing the connection between the readers and the characters. I couldn’t feel the pull until about half way through the book. Then of course I could t put it down after that. So of course I am still going to read the next one and hope for the best!

He's a philanthropic multi-millionaire but he is so elusive. Why is that? Lillian's goal as an investigative reporter is to find out. After many attempts at an interview with Nathan Lancaster Ms. Goss grabs the bull by the horns and faces him in his element by crashing his lair to ask the difficult questions and hopefully get the answers. Meeting Lillian started Nathan's mind/brain racing. How did she make him want/desire things he never yearned for before? She had spun her web and Nathan was ensnared. Reading this different twist on fated mates was such a joy. Nathan had fought his dark fate for so long. To discover the answer to my "darkness" question one will just have to read this book. Ms. Bolryder has another winner marked off in her column. I'm looking forward to reading the next in this series. For my honest review I was given an ARC of this book

Oooh! I love a good paranormal romance-especially from Terry Bolryder! Nathan Lancaster was a hard working, sexy billionaire, philanthropist, vigilante, good guy? Well maybe.......Lillian was a journalist who was absolutely obsessed with Nathan. She usually did fluff pieces, but was given the chance to write an expose of sorts on the elusive billionaire. The only problem was getting to him. After getting past his security, she convinces him to let her write her story, and instead he offers a job- for a week, access to all his files, with the opportunity to ask him questions, all but one. She's unsure if he's a hero or villian, but when she sees him in a compromising position, her heart is broken. Can Nathan convince her of his real purpose and show her who he really is? A fabulous new story in a brand new series by Terry Bolryder!

Nathan is a creature created to be forever alone in darkness. A philanthropist, with a deep dark secret. He rids the world of the evil that resides in mankind, even as he deems himself the monster he was created as. Until a sassy, fierce journalist named Lillian enters his world. Lillian has shut her feelings away due to pain from her past. Finding out what Nathan is scares her but doesn't stop the love and strength they find in each other. Together they will fight that darkness and heal each other. Another fantastic story thought darker from what this author has written before but still has me craving more of this series. I love that other characters from previous books will make an appearance makes this series that much more awesome. Can't get enough of this author and biting my nails for the next book.

Lillian and Nathan
This book is a bit different than what you are used to with this author. Nathan is a dragon, of sorts, but he feeds on darkness. The darkness that lives inside bad people. Lillian is a reporter who is determined to figure out what Nathan is hiding. This story sort of plays out as a fight of darkness and light. Both within Nathan and in general.
This story is very intriguing and I'm excited to read the next in the series to figure out more about these creatures, assuming the remainder of the series will be about Nathan's brothers.
Although this is a different spin on the shifter stories you are used to from this author, if you enjoyed previous books, you will also enjoy this one.

WOW! I’ve read all of Terry Bolryder’s dragon series and this is totally different than her other dragons. Fitting its title, this story is a little darker and seems a little more sinister than her previous books, but it was such a good read! It is also longer than her previous books, although I didn’t really notice it. The story flows seamlessly and the strong, deep characters carry the story effortlessly. The story is filled with mysteries some too big to be answered now and I can’t wait to see where the unanswered questions lead. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a love story that isn’t always easy, complex characters, the idea of redemption, light and darkness, and paranormal things that go bump in the night.
I received an Advanced Readers copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book did not flow. There were parts (quite a few) that felt forced. Things that were said that were not in context of the situation....it read alot like it was written by a high schooler for an English assignment. Not polished like several of her other series (rent a dragon has some great snarky stuff in it)..almost like it was the first draft of the story and hadn't been edited yet. I like the concept of the story and Terry's world building skills...i just don't see them at their best in this book..i am going to read the next book, in hopes that it is a little more "finished".

Wow, oh wow. This book is totally not your typical Terry Bolryder shifter romance. It was really, really good just as all her books are but it was a lot different than what I've become accustomed to. The characters are well developed as usual but the storyline is so engrossing, I did not stop reading until I finished. Lillian is a reporter chasing what she imagines will be her big break. Nathan is a rich billionaire with secret that Lillian wants to figure out. She is about to find out about things that go THUMP in the night! Truly an awesome read and I can't wait until the next book is released.

I was wondering where the next series would take us and I am not disappointed. A whole new dragonish series is upon us. Nathan doesn't no what he is, where he comes from, or why he does what he does. The only thing he knows is that he's alone and must stay secret from everyone. Lillian is a journalist and knows how to get a scoop. She knows theirs more to meet the eye with the rich and handsome Nathan. When she finally manages to sneak into his building for pester him for an interview she gets more than she bargained for. The first of a new series. Three brothers. Not quite human or dragon but something else. Are they evil? Who created them and should humans be afraid? Lillian knows something isn't as it seems with Nathan Lancaster. He's just to good to be true. Plus he shows up at disasters to frequently to be coincidence. She's a journalist and out to find the truth. Nathan isn't really certain what he is and he's spent one hundred years dealing with it. And he's not the only one. He's got two brothers. Are they monsters? Can a human love him knowing what he becomes after midnight?

One of three books (just grab the other two books now, most likely you won't want to wait to continue reading the story). It's hard not to fall in love with Theo he is so charitable and kind. Most can not understand the billionaire and he private and everyone wants to know more. Journalist Lillian wants to reveal all his secrets. What will she do when she does? Shock, hurt and forgiveness all play major roles. Violence2,sex2

Nightmare Dragons is definitely different from the other dragon books written by Terry Bolryder. This book is more serious, it has a great story line and I can't wait to read the others, I do sort of miss the humor that has been in the other dragon books and the closeness they all had, also I felt like even though they got together they never actually mated as in the other dragon books, so that was a little disappointing but all in all still have to say loved this book could not put it down so please hurry with the other brothers...can't wait!!

Lillian is a journalist and thinks she has a great story with Nathan Lancaster. All the pictures of fires and arsonist is Nathan in the pictures walking away. She wants to know his secrets, so when he tells her she can work with him for a week she takes it. Lillian isn't finding anything bad about him, all is good. Except when he stops bad things before they happen. She's falling in love with Nathan, but will she still love him mowing his true secret? Great read.

This book was fun and intriguing. I enjoyed hope the characters are different them most of Terry Bolryders with just a little more dark side and not wanting loved but needed it. The book has an amazing plot that pulled me in from the beginning and made it impossible to put down. I can't wait to see what happens next with some of the characters I came across in the book.

I received an ARC copy of this book with the option to leave a review.

This is a really sweet love story of a persistent young reporter and a mysterious uber rich philanthropist. Forgot to mention drop dead gorgeous.
She's suspicious and he's cautious.
Drawn to him because of his goodness. He is full of secrets and disappears at midnight. What is he. Who is he and
why does she make his heart sing.
As usual Terry gives you characters with real problems who solve them humanly.
It's a good read.

Terry's dragon world just took a new mysterious twist! I'm very interested to see where this series goes. The leading lady is still strong and sassy as usual and the leading man little more vulnerable than usual. His brother's stories will be interesting indeed. Im absolutely intrigued by this story with everything I know from reading her past books and this one I know I wont be disappointed.

I recieved this title for my honest opinion.

This new series of Terry's is extraordinary! Very different than the more light hearted, with an edge, stories she usually writes for us. Definitely darker, but intriguing in a manner which will draw you in and hold you tight until the end! I can't wait for the rest to be published!

This author writes beautifully: The inner turmoil of the main character, the ledger idea, the good vocabulary all contribute to an excellent read. There are a few grammar hitches such as using the correct pronouns after the conjunctions " as" and " than". It should read, "as he was" or "than she was".

I really enjoyed this book. Not knowing what the creatures are was a mystery. I didn't know if they were dragons or some other creature. The suspense is intense as you get to know each character. I think book two will be even better. Ready to read!!!!

I love Terry's stories about dragons. She always has a real heroine, not perfect, but not afraid to confront the unknown. This time she has a edgier hero and a take charge woman who does run from danger. Enjoy this book especially since it is in Kindle unlimited!

Well this is a different turn for Terry Bolryder. I enjoyed this book very much because Terry is a fantastic author but i really wish there was more of a back story. I felt like I was as lost as the nightmare dragons were.. but maybe that was the point.

I love stories by Terry! Will be reading the whole series. The next move for me is to order Book 2. Have it a9 because it is the first and there is no 9.75 guess a 10 would do but I'm ordering the next so a good story with romance

The character in this book were wonderful! I love when a shifter falls for a BBW??. The guys give off the dangerous but lovable feeling and can't wait until the next brother. When Nathan mentioned Chromium, I was glad for the little tie in. Thank you! Terry keep them coming. ❤

Lillian doesn't trust men and Nathan is strong, rich, handsome and all man, or is he? This book was so good I couldn't put it down, which is a bummer because I didn't want it to end. Impatiently waiting for the next book in the series!
