If you haven't started reading the Cages series, then I suggest reading the previous book 1-3 prior to even touching book 4. Trust me, you will appreciate this book more when you have read books 1-3.
I rarely, do any book reviews but when I do it is because the book is THAT GOOD.
The author shows great character development with the main character Ruby. There is some moments where I just want to "slap some sense" into her but then I have to remember, she led most of her life sheltered. The experiences with trusting men was damaged as shown in Book 1- Caged. Without giving out too much, this book definetly has a more adult tones so I would not call this a YA novel. It is far from it. There is enough "romance" and "action" to keep you entertained and interested throughout the whole book.
I sent a note to the author with a description of my reactions of while I reading.

In this order I can imagine was my reactions/expressions -
*Lip biting
*Throat clearing
*Heavy frowning
*Heavy exhaling
*Eyes bulging
*Head shaking
*Unshed tears
*Jaw dropping--catching flies (at the end)

If you haven't discovered this author yet, I strongly suggest you take the time purchase the box set. It is worth your time to read this independent author.

Becoming attached to the characters is virtually impossible to avoid. The struggle between love, a battle for life and protecting those the heroine love weaves a beautiful web for her readers to try to unravel.
Into the Storm (Force of Nature Book 2) :: So Fair a Lady (Daughters of His Kingdom Book 1) :: 40 Unmistakable Behaviors of Men Who Avoid Commitment and Play Games with Women :: F*CK Him!: Nice Girls Always Finish Single :: CAGED (The Caged Series Book 1)

Introduced to the series by a friend and couldn't have enjoyed it more. A nice break from modern heroines who have no brains and are consumed by the "man of their dreams". Only downfall is the author can't write fast enough!

This series started out so well. But this book is just a no from start to finish, just no. I am tired of abusive relationships masquerading as true love. I am tired of this author's idea of what is ok. The whole book is just a little too rapey for me. And as for the surprise twist ending, no. Just no.

sorry...this book missed the mark..i will not read book the next book. The book started slow..explaining details of the other books...waste of time. There were 3 other books that came out first..right? The action was all at the end and at this point..I dont care what happens to Ruby or Scarlet..its starting to be a long...story that will never end. So I am officially done...

The first 3 books were excellent, everyone painted Scarlett as a very bad wolf but in the first 3 books all I saw her do was try to protect her friends and the people she loved as well as Ruby. This 4th book I have to say I disliked her very much. She was always accusing Ruby of not thinking and then what does she go and do? Well you will have to read that for yourself. Mwahaaa! I was actually proud of Ruby in this book because she really was trying to make strides to face her issues instead of running and making bad decisions (she still does that a time or three in this book though) but she is making progress. We see Sean in a bit of a different light in this book too. I very much am looking forward to the next book.

SCARRED is filled with declarations of love, abrupt loss, hostile takeovers and plenty else in between. The books in the Caged series have all been engaging, fast paced, and easy to read in one sitting.

The men in this series are just plain nuts. I'm not saying that that is a bad thing but they have all lost their ever loving minds. Ruby just can't catch a break, every-time one situation is solved another pops up. The ending I kind of expected to be absolutely insane so it didn't leave me too incredibly surprised, definitely a killer cliffhanger though.

SCARRED was packed full of action, suspense, and ended up being one of my favorite books of the series. Although this did not happen to me here's a final warning I heard many times before I started reading, the ending might leave you wanting to punch something.

I gave it 5/5 stars

If you have not read the three previous books...you need to (Caged, Haunted, and Framed), and why are you still reading this? LOL!! This book was the best in the series so far. I read it non-stop, and couldn't sleep for hours after I finished. My emotions were all over the place, happy, sad, frightened, lustful, frustrated, mournful, excited, etc. The end will leave you panting and wanting more.

This whole series takes you on a journey through Ruby's eyes (the covers of all of the stories). :) By far, in this book she has grown the most. Ruby used to always run from her problems and not face the consequences, but she learned that solves nothing. Ruby is becoming a heroine without even realizing.

Ruby is in a love square, she has three guys after her (Matty, Sean, and Cooper). In the last book, you learn to love Cooper. Cooper to Ruby is her Grounded, down to earth type of guy, her best friend but more, she cannot live without him. Matty is her normal to her not so normal life. Lastly, Sean is her piece of heaven. In this book she chooses and makes it much simpler. Question is...will she change her mind?

The conflicts in the story are from the previous ones, "The Rev." who is a rouge werewolf that Ruby is somehow connected to. She blacks out and sees when he is killing another. Also Scarlet in the story (her werewolf self) poses a threat, and completely takes over Ruby at the end. Ruby must learn to control her other self, they disagree on everything. Even their taste in men. That will be her hardest task to overcome I believe.

You see a different side of Sean in this story. In the previous books he is always bi-polar and really is never around. But his softer side shows and you learn to like him. Giving Cooper a run for his money. Cooper in this book is not around a lot, giving Sean and Ruby lots of
"alone time". At times it gets pretty hot (finally), but what is a great romance novel without hotness? :)

Lots of questions are still in the air that need to be answered. Like...who is Gavin and what does he know? And what was Sean saying about Cooper and her before she blacked out?

I cannot wait for the next book. The author just keeps getting better and better! I am excited to read her other books beside this one that she has coming out! Thanks Amber for the great read and I look forward to the next one, and next one, etc.

(Contains Spoilers) This is a highly recommended series with unusual twists and turns. Not your typical Paranormal plot. Realistic characters (even if they aren't fully human) with depth and feeling. I enjoy that I want to cheer the starring woman on far more often than I want to slap her (as I tend to get highly irritated by the whiny leads). I also like that there's a solid explanation for her "less than virtuous" behavior. Sick to death of other books with love triangles that make the leading woman out to be a royal slut. Can't wait to read more from this author! **FIVE STARS***

Must. Read. Book. Five. Now. Loved this book. Each book in this series only gets better. I will be counting down the days to the release of book five to I can find out what will happen. I am sure Ruby will not disappoint. She has a talent for finding herself in crazy situations. I could not recommend these books more.

Wow, what a ride! "Scarred" is a great addition to the "Caged" series, wrapping up some key plot lines while taking the story in a wild new direction. It may sound like a cliche, but I laughed, I cried, and I swooned, and the ending left me begging for more. If you love this series, you definitely won't be disappointed!

I agree with previous posts that book was definitely worth the wait. It also sets up nicely for several story lines in the future books. However, I found the explanations of characters and events from the earlier books to be distracting and slowed the pace. Perhaps a definition/explanation page prior to the prologue would alleviate putting this information in the story itself.
Am looking forward to the next book in the series.

This book was definitely fast-paced and action-packed. I definitely was not expecting half of what happened. The ending totally blew my mind and I hope it doesn't stay true. Poor Ruby, she just can't catch a break. Everything seems to be going right and then does a complete 180. Definitely worth reading.
