Grace Craven can do no wrong. Her writing is lyrical and original. Her characters are fully formed. She could make a grocery list entertaining. Why she doesn't have hard cover books on the bestseller list is beyond me. Yes, she's that good. While Master of Crows and Radiance are my favorites, Entreat Me is very good too. Highly recommended.

One of the better versions written on the back of a classic Beauty and the Beast framework...two sisters, a scarred father and a valiant son, a twisted curse, a vicious and terrible rose, love and hate and regret and betrayal...endurance, wisdom, and the agony of despair and desperation...but Grace Draven writes excellent fantasy, tortured characters, with words soft and ragged and memorable...

Good immersive light Fantasy read. I enjoyed this enough to look for more books by Grace Draven. It is similar to Sharon Shin's works, but with simpler plots that focus primarily on the main characters. Don't get me wrong. I enjoy more complex Fantasy reads on occasion. But, sometimes, a book like this is just the thing.
A Sorceress of His Own (The Gifted Ones Book 1) :: The Undying King :: The Witch Hunter: The Witch Hunter Saga #1 :: A Demons of Fire and Night Novel (The Vampire's Mage Series Book 2) :: A Beauty and the Beast Retelling (The Otherworld Book 1)

This fresh take on a treasured fairytale is tons of fun. I loved every second of it. A must read for fans of the author. The characters are well developed and the story is well written. I cheered them on the whole way.

This is literally the best beauty and the beast adaptation I have ever read! I can't say enough about the way it was written to the originality of this age old story! And very steamy! But the right amount... Not overly done. Definitely worthy of being read not just once but over and over again!

A curse from a wretched woman holds onto Ballard and his son, Gavin. Two sisters enter into their world and so the story begins. Loved this tale and the endearing sacrifice and love that holds it together. Perfect matches in my eyes. Secondary cast is very much part of the main. Excellent story telling.

I highly recommend you read this book. Entreat Me is an extremely well written dark fantasy novel, a new take on Beauty and The Beast. I haven't written a book review in a long time, but I wanted to after finishing this book. It was such a pleasure to read every night. Fantastic characters and plot. I also loved her other book, Master Of Crows. Great author, love her books!

This book was wonderful. The characters are well-written, real, with flaws & strengths. The main female character is shrewish, tall, & thin, with a prominent nose, a spine of steel, & a generous heart. In other words, she's not perfect. I can't identify with perfect, so that works for me. The story is magical & lyrical, but also full of grit & courage.

This is a classic in my collection - one of repeat reads! Engaging, creative, wonderfully entertaining, difficult to put down... I can't say enough about this story. It is everything a great tale ought to be.

This was a really entertaining book. At first I thought it was going to be an alternate version of a fairy tale, but it's much more. Part of the fun of reading it was finding the various references to fairy tale tropes.

Entreat Me was a pleasant surprise. As my first introduction to author, Grace Draven, I had this on my to-read shelf for a bit. I purchased the novel on a whim due to the gorgeous cover art. I was pleased and intrigued to discover smaller sketches spread throughout the book to accompany the story. As you might have guessed, Entreat Me is an adult re-telling of Beauty and the Beast, with some "Taming of the Shrew" mixed in, and a refreshing change in perspective. Not only are there two heroines, sisters, one a true beauty, the other a shrewish widow; but there are two beasts as well. I was curious to see how Draven intended to pull that off, and was surprised and delighted with the result.
While the ebook copy I purchased had several small errors here and there, otherwise this novel flows effortlessly. Description is a richly woven tapestry, filled with both savage and beautiful imagery alike. The characters, including a surly housekeeper and her lover, a persnikity magician, enrich and enlarge an otherwise predictable tale. Of course, the obvious Beauty and her Beast are delightful, revealing their imperfections over time. However the greatest delight in this moving, albeit humorous affair, is the "shrew" Louvaen and battle-worn Lord of the Manse, Ballard. Their constant back-and-forth dance and equal steel wits kept me on edge most of the novel.
Perhaps the best thing about Entreat Me, besides the prose, was the occasionally larger-than-life cast of characters. Grace Draven has a true gift for casting her spell and pulling us deep into the world she has created. Often I forgot I was supposed to be reading a Beauty and the Beast re-telling because I was too caught up in the relationships and swooning over Ballard along with Louvaen.
A must-read for a true fan of fantasy and not-so-perfect fairy tales.

I read the sample, and immediately purchased the novel. A well written adaptation of the Beauty and the Beast, with a strong heroine. I thought the novel had a great blend of fantasy (sorcery and magic) and a beautiful romance (or two). It is a book that would be worthy of re-reading.

Seriously... This book is just so well written! Super steamy but in such a natural way it did not feel like reading porn (cough, Laurel K Hamilton, cough) and with plenty of great non sex plot line. I could hardly put it down.

Fantastic retelling of Beauty and the Beast with a whole new cast of characters to fall in love with. I'm a sucker for fractured Fairy Tales and stories told from both the hero's and heroine's perspectives!

I skipped over the prologue and the flashbacks as I wasn't really interested in Isabaus story. Well written, well planned and well edited. With the exception of the mention of a street battle I was transported to another realm where magic exists. Loves the unique names as well, and not a single Dante to be found.

Awesome beauty & the beast story. The world building sucks you in immediately. I would have loved to see more of Louvaen's magic and note of her background, but this didn't take anything away from my enjoyment. Definitely a rare 5 star read

Definitely more slowly paced than Master of Crows, but this is just another magical book. The scenery is so excellently constructed, so easy to visualize. The characters are intriguing, funny, and relatable. You want to hug Ballard and have Louvaen as a friend

I loved this story. I started reading and could not put it down. The characters were delightful , intelligent , humorous, and full of interesting quirks. It had everything including a great story line, fascinating looks at medieval life, a black curse, and true love in all of its complicated manifestations. The humorous and tenderness between our main characters was balanced by danger and a bit of heartache. Thankfully, there were some great sex scenes that were well written and leavened with snappy conversations. I highly recommend this book.

Grace Draven is a superb storyteller. I've read everything she's written since I discovered The King of Hel almost 10 years ago. One of the things I love best about her writing is the heroines. They are strong women who remain strong women even after they fall in love. I don't mean they're all warriors looking to kick butt. No, they are strong in personality and do what they believe is needed without whining or expecting a man to rescue them. Entreat Me was full of characters that were so well written I felt like I knew them, and Lou was absolutely one of her best heroines yet. This isn't light reading. There is hatred and evil and an old curse that seems impossible to break. There is also love and determination and courage.

I'm terrible at writing reviews because I tend to gush without saying much of substance. I don't want to give away plot points so I tend to babble. Let me just say that I started this book last night an hour before bed, intending to read a chapter or two then lights out. But did I do that? Noooooo. I stayed up reading feverishly until 4am, got up late for church, and sat through the service with gritty eyes and my mind still full of Ballard and Lou, and Gavin and Cinnia. As soon as I reasonably could, I rushed home to finish the book.

I can't wait to see what Grace Draven comes up with next!

Grace Draven has once again created a delicious cast of enchanted characters. I tried to restrain myself from gobbling down this delectable tale in one sitting, but found myself unable to resist. As with Master of Crows, I was carried into an enchanted land, peopled with complex, charming and passionate characters. I savored every page of this reimagined tale of Beauty and the Beast.

This is a heartfelt, entertaining and deeply imaginative page turner. I adore the well rounded characters. Many times I found myself grinning like an idiot. If you read this book, make sure you have nothing important to do...because you will not be able to put it down. Can't wait to read more from this author!

An interesting twist on the classic Beauty and Beast tale. The characters are well developed and endearing, and the story pulled me in pretty quickly. Grace Draven has not disappointed in this re-telling of the classic.

This book has it all!! Magic, romance, laughter and tears. The characters are full fleshed and the storyline flows wonderfully from one situation to the next. Draven's love of the word is obvious and very well crafted. I would recommend Entreat Me to anyone who still believes.

Liked the twist in this fairy tale. The heroine was no missish young girl, but rather a woman who knew her mind and desires. I love a battle-weary knight so Ballard pushed all my buttons, he matured during his own challenges and I liked the interaction between the two.
Just as enjoyable as Master of Crows.

Most people have read some type of Beauty and the Beast storyline (afterall, tale as old as time, right?). This particular story of Beauty and the Beast was one that I had not even thought about. The story was well written with twists and turns in the traditional storyline while it stayed true to its origins.

Would I read this book again? Yes, in a heartbeat.

I bought this book on a recommendation and fell in love! A great twist on the Beauty and the Beast theme. The author wrote great dialogue within the story and a couple twists that I didn't see coming (except for the happy ending!). I would highly recommend this book.

I love retellings of fairy tales, especially Beauty and the Beast, and this one is definitely one of the better ones I've come across. I'll be posting a full review about it on my blog, but basically I loved this book and thought the romance was believable given the circumstances the hero and heroine are under. I can't wait to see what Grace Draven writes next!
