I love this authors books and she again has amazed me with her talent for telling a story. I have read her Guardian series and will now read The Gifted Ones series. Her books tell a story of how two people and even the family grow to love one another. This book has tons of love, action and suspense. You will love it!

After reading the immortal guardians series, I thought this would be a good follow up. Wow! I didn't want it t end. I felt so immersed in their "gifted" world and could hardly put the book down. I was pleased to see some familiar characters and my mind was spinning trying to anticipate the next plot turn in the story. I look forward to reading the next book to be released! Thank you Diane Duvall :-)

Doing my laundry, cleaning out closets for winter and scrubbing my stove have never been so fun! It was fun because I listen to this book the whole time. Enough said. I'm off to snatch up the next one.

This book/series really deserves 5 stars...its an amazing book that give you excitment - romance - humor - medieval all in one book!

I was a bit nervous about reading it, because normally medieval stories dont interest me...but i can litterally say that i am glad that i read this book and wil keep reading future books that may come in this series

A prequel, if you will, of this author's previous books. I like the author's work. The story was interesting and the characters flawed enough to be liked. Worth buying. I liked the "cameo" appearance of characters from previous books

I enjoyed this book overall. It had good pacing and interesting characters. There was a bit of insta-love but the story was still good. The chemistry between Allysa and Dillon was entertaining. I enjoyed their banter. The old English was and an interesting choice on the writers part and added to the ambiance of the story. All and all I would recommend this story.

I loved this story from beginning to end! So much action, intrigue, and hot romance! Just the right recipe for a great read. I've read Ms. Duvall's Immortal Guardians series & I'm excited for this series, but also to continue reading the other! Keep writing & I promise to keep reading!

Enjoyed this story! There were a couple of places where transitions need to be stronger- slight confusion caused.
Time, self sacrifice, and love always make for a great story; Diane Duvall brought a concealed love to life with a dying healer and her now healed charge. A broken man finds his heart peace in the last person anyone would expect. A bad guy, a magical healer, and the kings own hero build the suspense of an action packed ending and a love that brings peace to a suspicious people. Loved it!

I have just recently returned to reading romantic novels and I have to say I enjoyed this one. I wouldn't say it was the best I have read but the story was well told. It was interesting and had an ok mix of action and romance.
If you like knights and romance with a little magic this would be a great book for you.

Loved it. I love Dianne Duvall and have read all her books. Based on this book this is going to be a great new series about the "Gifted Ones". I love that it takes you back in time to when the first "Gifted Ones" are found. Seth makes an appearance as well as Roland and Marcus. Great book and I highly recommend you read it. You won't be disappointed.

I loved this book. Dillion and Alyssa's story was absolutely a true love story with just enough magic. I liked where Dianne brought Seth and Roland into this story and I hope she will do that in future stories for this series. This is a must read.

This was a very enjoyable read. Alyssa and Dillon had much to get through to reach their HEA. The author did a great job of telling their story and bringing the characters to life. This was a great start to the series. Highly recommend.

This was a great book! i really enjoyed reading it. It felt different than other series I have read following the same genera. People actually get hurt, meaningful things happen, and the author wrote the characters well.

Dillon and Alyssa have a really hard road to travel. She heals him by taking on the wounds and when they are too much the family has to step in to help. They fall in love and the impossible happens and they find a way to marry.

I love Dianne Duvall's Imortal Guardians series, and now we get to see what started them with The Gifted Ones!

Omg! How can you not fall in love with Dillon and Alyssa! They are so meant for each other, and you see how they have a connection even before Alyssa reveal. The story clicked on all cylinders and kept me turning the pages to see what happens next. Alyssa, and Dillon so selfless.

So fun to see some fab Gurdians before they came to be. I love the commraderie between Dillon and his brother Robert, and that they trust each other, even when the enemy tries to cause problems.

The setting, the characters the villains, the Hottie Hero, the beautiful heroin, the story.....well you get the idea. You are missing out if you don't snap this one up, you won't be disappointed! While your at it, check out her Immortal Guardians , Hot special alpha happiness!

In the meantime, I'm going to be patiently waiting for Robert's book...well maybe not too patiently. :sigh:

Great story! I am surprised I liked this so well. I have read all the books Duvall has written and recommend the guardian series to anyone who hasn't read them . I am looking forward to the next book in this new series.

A fantasy and historical romance in one! Not the same cookie cutter medieval romances that are churned out without any semblance of originality. I thoroughly enjoyed this fresh tale minus the usual hero/heroine misunderstanding mush that so many seem to write about.

I have enjoyed many romances ,but this was different and engaging. The plot had just enough twists and turns to to keep you wonderingly if this'd be one where nobody lived happily ever after. The character development was both brief and precise leaving the reader feeling like they quite know the principals and Begin to predict their reactions.

Absolutely LOVE this book!!! I am a complete romantic and felt that the author did an awesome job in conveying Dillion and Alyssa's love and affection for each other. There are no words to express how much I love this book. I've read A LOT of books and this is up there with my top 10, even top 3.

Loved this story! I blame Diane Duvall for a few very late nights/mornings because it was difficult to put this book down. My only complaint is having to wait until 2016 for the next book in the series.

I thought the character development was lacking, and the prose managed to be both trite and pretentious - all those twill, mayhap, aught, naught, nay, perchance - it's as if she tried to use antiquated verbiage to establish time / place / setting instead of, you know, showing it through writing....It wasnt immersive or detailed enough to be interesting from a historically-accurate angle (being nominally set in the time of King Richard) and the paranormal aspect was lacking if perchance (ha ha) that's what you're looking for. There are vastly superior examples of this genre, that's for sure.
