I loved Roscoe & Simone. They were both awesome characters and I couldn't wait to see what their HEA looked like. Penny Reid is an auto buy author for me and I look forward to reading and loving whatever she writes next!

Dr. Strange Beard does not disappoint. We get scenes with all our favorite Winston’s, but finally get to know more about Roscoe and his relationship- past and present- with Simone. This book gave me all the feels. I sat on my bed and cried actual tears once I finished every word of this roller coaster. You think it is going to end earlier than it does, then *surprise* there’s a few more chapters of roller coaster.

I loved this! The characters were so different (as is usual for Penny Reid!), and so interesting. The world and character building was amazing, the story interesting and I loved the chemistry! 5 stars all around!!
Elements of Chemistry (Hypothesis Series Book 3) :: A Philosophical Romance (Knitting in the City Book 4) :: An Origin Story (Knitting in the City) - Ninja At First Sight :: Beard Science (Winston Brothers Book 3) :: A reluctant romance (Knitting in the City Book 3)

The Winston brothers are my favorite bunch of guys to read about, hands down. They are all very different, yet all totally wonderful in their own quirky ways. I pre-ordered this book so long ago that it surprised me when it showed up on my Kindle - and then I devoured it in a day. I love Penny Reid's writing style and quirky smart characters.

A more involved review will be on my blog soon, but had to gush (always a good thing to do when procrastinating at work) I absolutely loved this story and these characters and totally recommend this story to anyone who likes smart romance.

Yes, Roscoe returns home to find his former best friend is there, too, much to his consternation. Full of reminders of how we guard our hearts sometimes to our detriment. This novel is full of surprises! Who is really an undercover agent? Who is dying? Who tries to kill two lovers? Read and enjoy finding out! I was so sorry it reached a conclusion. Looking forward to next year’s new novels.

I love Penny Reid...and Dr. Strange Beard made me love her even more! It's another wonderful addition to the Winston Brothers series! Simone and Roscoe are such beautifully complex characters and I loved every step of their journey.

On another note, I really respect Penny Reid for tackling issues of race, police brutality, allyship, and navigating these issues as a community. As a POC (and long-time reader of Reid's), I just wanted to give her credit for taking on this topic with such nuance and grace. Just one of the million reasons why she's such an amazing storyteller.

Once again Penny Reid has written characters to love! Roscoe was so unexpected in a wonderful way, he is truly an unforgettable man. Simone is a force of nature, so much feels for them both. Exceptional story to an exceptional series, and I cannot wait to be lost in Green Valley again soon.

Roscoe might be my favourite Winston hero yet! He was so sweet the entire book, and I already want to reread this book. Simone was so badass, I absolutely loved her and I definitely would love to read more point of view. The whole book had me on the edge of my seat, whether it was to find out details about the other Winston’s, Roscoe and Simone’s past, or the action and shocking revealations throughout the book. I would absolutely recommend this book to everyone, it made me so happy!

I really enjoyed this book. Simone was a great character, and I loved Roscoe for a number of spoiler-y reasons, also simply because he embodies the Winston clan. I devoured the book in one sitting. Well done!

I have enjoyed every single book in the Winston brothers series but this is by far my favourite! There are so many issues that Penny discussed in this book that are important right now in this space and time. She handles them with such Grace and finesse. Incorporating these socially uncomfortable issues into a romance can be tricky but Penny Reid does an awesome job of making the reader stop and think without beating you over the head with point of view. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!!!! I'm sorry my first read is over but I know I will be reading DSB again and again.

I struggled to complete this book - unusual with a Winston brothers book. First, it was a second chance romance, my least favorite. Second, I didn’t care for the couple together. For me, they lacked the chemistry I have enjoyed from Reid’s other characters. I think, considering she normally writes rather unusual heroines, this heroine was a bit dull. Plus, Roscoe wasn’t quite as interesting as his brothers even with his memory thing.

All around, it was okay. Not the worst I’ve read and not the best.

Ms. Reid outdid herself. Not only did this book have all the romance, humor, and action that comes with this series, she added real world issues. Thank you for doing it so seamlessly and not in a preachy way. The dialogue between the interracial couple and the citizens of different classes and races was on point. I forgot that the author is not a person of color. This is hands down my favorite.
PS I would love to continue the series with some of the other characters mentioned in the story....

Not only are Penny Reid’s books always well written, thoughtful, sad, laugh out loud funny, well written stories that make me want to have her characters as real life friends, but I always learn something new or am exposed to a point of view I’d never had. I absolutely loved this story as well as all the other Winston books.

Sooooooooo good! I really loved Simone and roscoe’s story. As always the story was well developed and each character was realistic. Glad we got updates on the other Winstons. Can’t wait for Claire and Billy’s stories!

I have been waiting for this book since I finished Beau & Shelley's book. It was so satisfying to dive into Roscoe's story! I've missed this wonderfully odd and loving family. He may be the baby of the family but he is definitely all grown up. Friends to lovers romances are tasty but with Roscoe and Simone's oddities and the additional drama of the ever evil Darrel Winston, this book was fantastic! I can't say enough good about it. So many facets to appreciate.

I tried really hard to like Roscoe and Simone, and just enjoy a Penny Reid book, but I found it hard to finish. I ended up skimming chapters, stopping to enjoy the Winston family pages. It was just dull, and I'm sorry to write that about an author I truly enjoy to read.

I love this series. This book was worth the wait. It has everything: sexual tension, family values, intriguing mystery, motorcycle gangs, good cops/bad cops, strange neurological functions, delayed gratification, and true love. Just like the previous 4 books - but this one has Roscoe and Simone. A very good read.

I loved this book, which suprised me because I was NOT happy that this book came out before Billy's... but Roscoe and Simone won me over. I happened to especially appreciate that Roscoe wasn't the perfect, quintessential, mind reading lover and I enjoyed the slow-burning feel of this book :) Would recommend!!

I love Penny Reid and her Winston Brothers series. I was super excited about this new release. For me, Dr Strange Beard ended up being too strange. I couldn’t identify with either of the main characters. I felt that the ending left me wanting. I still have it 3 stars because any this is still a pleasant read. Some parts are still funny especially the family dynamics. I am just a little underwhelmed when I expected more.

I have always loved how Ms. Reid writes; the flow and rhythm struck me from the very first book. This book follows that path. But this book departs and the direction it went was a surprise. I could say it speaks from current events happening around the country. I can't wait for the next book, Billy is a mystery to me and I expect to his family as well. Roscoe and his memory was fantastic to read about. Thank you!

I enjoyed the story of Roscoe and Simone. There seemed to be so much of an issue with communication. His memory versus her pragmatic and logical thinking and neither wants to be vulnerable. It was well written and is definitely one to recommend.

If you have not read anything from Penny Reid you are missing out a long lasting relationship with fictional characters that can be your friend, colleagues or neighbors. I love ❤️ this book so much because the feelings are so real and the fact that you have mixed racial couples even more. No spoilers from me, just get the book and feel it ?

Just, so very good. Wonderful even, probably fantastic! I will have to reread it a dozen times to decide.
Just kidding! Penny Reid did it again, she has written a wonderful story. I love these characters so much, and while I cannot wait to read each book, I curse them as they end! I just want more right away! I cannot wait for the next story in these series!

Absolutely adored Simone and Roscoe. Loved their history and their deep knowledge of each others strengths and weaknesses.
I loved the fact that the reality of them being a mixed race couple was mentioned but not the center of their story. They loved each other truly regardless of skin color & it was believable.

Thank you so much Penny Reid for honestly identifying and highlighting the best and worst my community experiences on a daily basis. Thank you for letting Simone have understanding interracial love while still being true to herself and her culture. I loved every moment of this book. I cried happy tears. My favorite book of all time.
