This novel was one of my favorites because of the dark, sexual love story mixed with the lion "curse" and fictionally character added to the intensity of the book. I for one could not put this down due to its' intensity and explicit and thoroughly detailed passages throughout the novel. Again, this is a MUST READ!!!

This is an awesome read. I started reading it and could not put it down. If you like paranormal books I would definitely suggest any of her books. These stories to me talks about what love should be like between families and couples.

Having read all of her Dark series (more than once), I found this an interesting change from her Dark and Wild series. Didn't care as much for the Wild series but have read 3 of those and enjoyed. This books had some elements of the Dark series and I can definitely see how her storytelling has progressed since the Lair of the Lion. Would recommend this for anyone who loved the Dark series. It was a fairly quick read and had a satisfying end.
Dark Slayer (Carpathian Novel, A) :: A Novella (The 'Dark' Carpathian Book 7) - Dark Dream :: Mind Game (GhostWalkers, Book 2) :: Murder Game (Ghostwalker Novel Book 7) :: Sacrifice of Love: Grey Wolves Series, Book 7

Enjoyed the story and characters. Kept me reading long past bedtime and wondering if she is going to write stories about the other characters in the book like she has with her Leapard People and Ghostwalkers series.

Everything I have read written by Christine Feehan is incredible, including Lair of the Lion! The female lead character's courage and determination was inspiring. The male lead character's need for love, acceptance, and companionship was heart wrenching! The romance delicious. Full of intriguing twists and turns, this is a must read!

Disclaimer: I got this book from the public library and have received no compensation from the author or publisher for this honest review.
My paranormal romance reads so far this last half of the year have not been disappointing. See, browsing a library can bring good things your way.
This is not one of her more recent works (Lair of the Lion was published in 2010) but it still has all the hallmarks of Feehan's style that I enjoy.
The heroine in this story is not shrinking violet which was fun to watch as she pitted her will against the hero/antihero, Don Nicolai DeMarco's "cursed" existence. The characters were complex and pretty well developed so that I didn't feel like I was reading about "token fodder" for the sake of the plot.
There were a few twists that I honestly didn't see coming and can't list because they would spoil the book.
Would I recommend this? Yes, especially for those who love saucy heroines.

The DeMarco family lives with an ancient deadly curse in a secluded valley high in the mountains, in a land filled with magic. Damned by their very own ancestor to never be seen as a man by others and to repeat the history of betrayal and brutally murdering the one they love.
Isabella Vernaducci, determined to save her brother's life, has overcome every obstacle set before her to beg the elusive Don Nicolai DeMarco to save Lucca from the twisted Don Revellio. Vowing to trade her life for his and to serve the dangerous Don in whatever way he sees fit.
An evil entity awakens as soon as Isabella enters the DeMarco valley, determined to destroy her. Can Isabella and Nicolai break the centuries old curse or will she be slain, her soul trapped in the valley for eternity, never finding peace, along with all of the others?
I really enjoyed this book. It is a beauty and the beast type scenario with enemies turning up around every corner. Danger and romance fill this page turner.

This was an enjoyable paranormal story. Instead of the usual vampires and demons, we have a hero who is cursed to live as half man/ half lion.
Don Nicolai DeMarco communicates with and controls the wild lions on his land. He has been cursed to become one of them any time he feels rage. Few people try to visit his castle, and most who do try are never seen again.
Isabella Vernaducci's brother has been taken prisoner by a greedy neighbor. She knows that the only man powerful enough to demand her brother's release is the Don who is rumored to be half beast. She risks her life traveling alone to the castle of Don DeMarco. She will do anything in return for his help.
Don DeMarco believes that this woman is the chosen one who can break the curse that has haunted his family for generations. In return for freeing her brother from his captor, DeMarco demands marriage with Isabella. She agrees. Although his people seem to treat him as a monster, Isabella only sees him as a beautiful man. However, Isabella's powerful gift of intuition allows her to sense a presence of evil within the Don's domain. Through suffering attempts upon her life, Isabella begins to unfold the mystery of the Don's curse.
After years of being disdained and unaccepted by mankind, Nicolai is quickly enamored with this woman who treats him like a human being. He will kill anyone who threatens her safety. After several attempts have been made to harm her, Nicolai feels he must let her go back to the safety of her home town. However, the wild lions under his command refuse to let her leave. Nicolai is determined to destroy anyone who threatens his beloved Isabella. However, the rage of the beast inside him may become her greatest threat of all.
