I thoroughly enjoyed this book. There is a large amount of action and great character development in these books. This is the second book in the series and it kept me on the edge of my seat through most of the reading. What I like about these stories is that I care so much about the main character his friends and his cat that I spend the majority of the story worrying if they will survive. So if you have read and enjoyed the first book in the series then consider buying this one as it is a great read.

If the first book was an ok novel (nothing compared to World War Z, if you want to stay in the same area), this one is extremely bad. The narrative is repetitive (it's exactly the same pattern as the previous one), there is no explanation whatsoever of why things go the way they do, and it's basically readable only if you are morbidly interested in the Spanish royal family or any Spanish Civil War going on during a zombie apocalypse. Just don't waste your money on this.

I like this book. A little disappointed that it wasn't written like the first one as a blog. When I got into the story line it was hard to put down. Can't wait for the third book, there are a lot of questions that have to be answered....

Great follow-up to the very entertaining Apocalypse Z. This is my favorite zombie series and Ive read several. This one was entertaining, suspenseful and gave us more insight to the zombies and the disease. It wasn't as good as the first one, as it had less exciting and thrilling scenes, but it was still very good. I cant wait for the third one to come out! I highly recommend this series!

This book was most entertaining and captivating. To date have read 3 of the books Manel Loureiro has written and totally enjoyed all. The novel is about a potential apocalyptic time when the world succumbs to an infection causing dead people to come back as zombies. The description of main characters' trying to escape both the zombies as well as normal individuals who want to dominate the existing world is great. It is an interesting little journey.

While not as good as apocalypse stories from Molles or Cook, I enjoyed the first Apocalypse Z. But Dark Days... really? The story was OK but not as good as I had hoped for. Then came the ending. I know there is a third installment coming but the was awful. I don't mind a good cliffhanger but I was left flat. I'll read book three but with low expectations. Hope Mr. Molles gets Capt. Harden back to us before then.

The first book was well thought out, filled with details that drew the reader in. This follow up was less well-crafted and the ending so abrupt that it didn't make sense. What a waste! I agree with the other reviewers that it seems the author threw it together to get it out there sooner rather than better!

While still worth the read, especially for my OCD, you have to get ready for the third and final book. I loved the characters and suspense the author created in book 1 but this book fell flat on both accounts. I felt myself skimming through meaningless sentences just to get to something good. The initial suspense of the first book that I fell in love with sadly does not exist in this book.

Loureiro continues his story of an almost-hapless former-lawyer and his friends- a helicopter pilot, a nun, and a teenaged girl. The zombies quickly become the least of their problems once they actually find a zombie-free zone and find that humans scratching out survival in a highly regimented system can be even worse than undead people who just want to eat you.

The book follows the original Apocolypse Z admirably, pick up right where it left off. Continuing the story of the main characters as they find refuge in the Canary Islands among other survivors, they find their skills in demand and are tabbed to return to Spain with a team to retrieve much needed supplies. The author's style of storytelling is well suited to the split story he weaves of the crew out getting the supplies and what happens back on the island during their mission. I found it a satisfying continuation of the series with plenty of action and a good plotline.

This novel has more twists and turns then a teenagers explanation of why they were late for curfew. It is not a book you can easily at every level the hero's are on the verge of death, destruction, and mayhem. I love the first two and can't wait for the third. I guess Machiavellian is the word I am looking for.

Dark Days is the second installment in the Apocalypse Z series, and it's sure to polarize some fans of the series, mainly because it's slightly different in tone than it's predecessor. The best way I could describe it is saying it's the "Aliens" of the series, with the first being more akin to "Alien." The first book featured some truly desolate and hold your breath moments as one man struggle to survive in a zombie filled world. This book is just as tense and nerve racking, but not for the same reasons. I don't want to spoil anything so I'll just assuage any fears that this book is so tonally different from the first by saying that by the time I got 70% through the book it had me and I had to finish it. I still hold this series up as being the second best indie zombie series out behind "The Remaining," even though this book was a bit more action-adventure in nature as opposed to the tense hold your breath moments that made up the first book. If you're a fan, you shouldn't even be reading this if you haven't purchased this yet. If you didn't enjoy book one then I doubt you'll find anything about this interesting as most of this book is spent tugging on the reader's heartstrings and fondness for certain characters.
Worst part now is waiting for book three to get translated.

What I loved about his first Apocalypse Z novel is the journal format, I was greatly sad to see that not utilized in this second book. This second novel also lacked the incredible detail, I will clearly remember scenes from the first novel and am left with a feeling like this book is missing the great moments that made the first one SO incredibly captivating.

The author is brilliant. I fell in love with these characters. I konw them so well after reading both books. I couldn't put them down. I felt a little disappointed when the first book ended, and the second book picked up just like the next chapter in one book that was cut in half to make sure you bought the second book. But....I guess u gotta make $ being a new name and with the endless undead series that are so popular these days. I'm still trying to make terms with the ending....I don't want to give anything away....it was as I'm realizing, not a bad ending. I'd just grown so attached to those 2 men I really hope there is a third book in the near future......I guess sometimes it's not a bad thing to be left hanging. I can imagine all sorts of endings...good n bad. But I was defiantly left with the strong feeling of hope, even if I never really know what happened to the heroes of these amazing books.....It gave me a lot to think about. I especially liked how they never lost their humanity, despite all the carnage. And were true friends, when one started to slip and lose hope, the other was right there to bring him back from dispare. I only hope the boys and island are never found kinda like a new eden......

Unlike many reviewers, I thought that the story throughout the book was pretty decent. It wasn't nearly as gripping or quite as compelling as the first, but it was a good story about characters that I'd grown to like.
I would have quickly given this story a 5 star rating if it weren't for the last couple pages. It was a lazy and unfulfilling epilogue. I'll probably be skipping the next book because of it.

Bought this one with the Audible edition and wispersync. Ended up listening to it rather than reading it and the Audible version is awesome. I enjoyed it but I didn't get the ending. Is he setting us up for a sequel or is this the last book in the series?

I really liked the first book, unfortunately this one is not near as good. I put this book down a few times to read other things. The only reason I finished it was because of OCD, Lol. What a shame. I was so exited for this book to come out in English.

This book has everything. Lots of action, which made me read faster and faster, a little romance, with a bit of comedy. I also loved the caracters. I gave it 5 stars because it held my attention like glue. I would recommend it to everyone.

After reading book one in this series, I was excited about Dark Days. The novel didn't disappoint. The ending left me wanting more. I pray there is another book in this series. Mr. Loureiro kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I couldn't put the book down.

It was and enjoyable and quick read, but I missed the journal entry style of the great first book... and as far as eventfulness this book seems to cover about half as much as the first. Will still read the third (in a year or two when they get around to translating it, undoubtedly at a snails pace as with this one), but my expectations are lowered.

I enjoyed reading the next installment in the Apocalypse Z tale.
Picking up from where the first book left off, the reader is taken on a roller coaster ride of highs and lows, hope and despair, as the heroes of the drama find other humans left -- only to find out that they cannot relax. Not only must they fight the undead, they must also fight humans that are consumed with destroying the remaining few places with civilization left.
Like other reviewers, I sure hope the author is going to explain the surprise ending! And I keep worrying about the cat.
This book was as well written as the first, but I found it too short and the ending very abrupt. I expected a bit more... thus, the 4/5 stars instead of 5/5. That being said, I typically am NOT a zombie reader, but this series has me creating a special exception.
Kudos!

I really enjoyed it but I preferred only hearing it from the main character's view only, introducing things as he found out. I wouldn't have minded adding another character's view if it had been written in the same journal style but it was still a great book!

As many other reviewers have pointed out, this sequel is not as great as the first one, but is still a good read. We pick up where right we left our lawyer at the end of the first book. This book is more about our lawyer's struggle with humanity rather than the undead.
The writing is similar and you will still root for our underdog hero and his cat. If you enjoyed the first one, you will enjoy this one as well.

Just when you think everything will be okay, the danger is back. The world is still ending and there are now more dangers. This was an exciting sequel that played off the first book and is suspenseful and thrilling. Wonderful read and can't wait for book 3!

This book is much more entertaining than the first book. The character development is superb, the storyline gripping, and the overall plot well-written and thought out. There is a brief chapter giving the perspective of a zombie, which is brilliant.
Some reviewers here did not like the ending...but, knowing that there is another, 3rd sequel coming in 2014, makes the ending understandable and well written.

The first book in this series was outstanding. Tons of action and the pace was perfect. I was anxious to read this sequel and was so disappointed to find 1/10th the action. It's hard to find sequels as good as book #1 in a series but Dark Days was a waste of my time.

This book is the second in the series. It builds upon the story of a young lawyer's drive to survive in a post apocalyptic zombie filled world. He finds himself in all kinds of predicaments but he never loses hope and the will to survive. While the book is very descriptive and many times violent I imagine it is representative of what things really would be like- from other humans base, self serving motivations, to the breakdown of buildings, roads, etc as nature reclaims the environment. But mostly the book is a fast paced entertaining story. I can't wait for book three to be translated into English and released in the US.

As with all the science fiction that I have read, this author has made many twists and turns. He has a great sense of story telling which makes for a great read. I could never second guess where he would take me next.
