This book has become a valuable resource for our homeschool. I love that I can pick this up and no matter which book we choose to read my children are gaining knowledge and able to experience the diversity of our world. A must have for any home library.

This is an invaluable resource for any home library. We homeschool and will be using this as a read-aloud guide and we're using it as a summer reading guide. There are so many great books listed - both well-known books and hidden gems. I would recommend this to Christian and non-Christian homes. Love that it's recommended by LeVar Burton.

My children loved finding the books in the library! For each area of study I gave them each a list and when they got home they took turns reading out loud. As a family we enjoyed this time together and prepared meals from each region we read about. The on-line Community was fantastic as well! This was a fun and engaging project that I fully plan on expanding into our homeschool curriculum.

This is a great resource for anyone that is piecing together their own curriculum! I spent so much time researching and looking through booklists online... "Give Your Child the World" has been such a relief. It has books categorized by region, gives the recommended reading ages, plus a brief description of the content. My kids have also really enjoyed most of the books we've read so far.

We have really enjoyed this book. 1 month after having our 6th child, we decided to homeschool our kids 9 and under....and coming up with what to study is stressful I've loved using this along side a little passports subscription. Having all the books broken down into geographic area and age range is perfect! It has made studying the world so easy, and very enjoyable!

This book is wonderfully thorough. It's so well organized. You can easily plan for upcoming units or activities using the multiple indexes (subject, age group, etc.). So, so good. This is a great fit for anyone with kids or anyone who works with kids. Plus it's just fun to look through!

We have been using some of the suggestions from this book for summer reading. There are a number of options and I like that it includes fiction and non-fiction and categorizes by age. It's SO HELPFUL to have a resource with a family-friendly list ready to go so I don't have to try to find the all best books for my kids using trial and error. Glad we have this one on our shelf!

We are really enjoying this reading challenge. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I ordered Give Your Child the World on the store, and the lists and accompanying text have been a most excellent starting point for introducing our boys to the different cultures and historical events of the world. I’ve loved seeing them practice mapping out our neighborhood, and talking to them about how important it is to do the right thing (Wangari really inspired our two oldest!). The books you selected are books I probably wouldn’t have found on my own, so thank you for this invaluable resource.

Because our family is using a missions-based geography curriculum, we needed a reference for finding additional books for exploring other countries and cultures. This reference provides a booklist organized by geographical region, along with a short description of each book and recommended ages. Exactly what we needed!

Amazing! What inspiring books that are bringing the world alive to my boys! Every book we've read has been beautiful and moving. Our goal was one per week out of one section of the world, but now it's hard not to try to read all of them!! We will be adding quite a few of her recommended titles to our shelves permanently. All of our eyes have been opened to the ways so many people live and work and go to school.

As a homeschooling mom and the mom of an internationally-adopted child, this book has been an invaluable resource. For our homeschooling journey, it has been a blessing to have a go-to resource as I select books for our school year. It has also proved so helpful in allowing me to find good books that we can use as we discuss and learn about our son’s culture. It is a great resource!

I immediately got lost in its first 4 chapters. When I ordered it, my expectations were that it was going to be a compilation list of books to read to your children. But it was more that that. The first four chapters were about the beautiful woman who wrote it and her children. I immediately fell in love with her real life story and related to her on many levels.
Then came the lists. Oh! IF YOU ARE A PARENT::: you must buy this book!
We are firm believers in reading here in our home and can never seem to have enough books to keep up. The lists of recommended books are ever so organized my age and by theme.
Love love love this book.

Wonderful book! It's a great resource in exposing children to customs and people from around the world! Jamie suggests several books (broken down into categories by age and region of the world) that can often be found at the library. Each book has a description. My boys have loved every book we have read and they are learning so much!

My husband and I both traveled extensively around the world before we were married. So as we input into our children's lives, exposure to the diversity around our globe is very important to us. This was just the book I was looking for as I prepare to homeschool my children with a literature-based approach. Jamie has taken years of research and condensed it down into a format that is both organized and fascinating. I also really appreciate that she points out topics in any books that parents might have concerns with (i.e. "this book contains religious references.").

Terrific book at giving a guideline on cultural books. It’s a great resource and the books on the lists have been top notch. It is also very motivating on giving a case for teaching children about our world and motivates pagents on how to best approach this and inciting into their lives.

I love this resource. We have some avid (but young) readers in our house and this book helped us identify which books to read to open their eyes to the world a bit more. I'm so thankful for the work Jamie Martin put into reviewing the books to help us make informed decisions about what our kids are reading! I'd highly recommend it!

I really like that it has the age suggestions and descriptions helping me to pick out the best options for my young kids. I "read around the world" with my kids this summer, and we all had a wonderful time. They loved it so much we're planning on doing it every summer. Give Your Child the World was a great place to start in my search for books. Highly recommended!

This is not just a book but a treasured resource. Its obvious a lot of work went into this book because I know how much time I spend trying to build the perfect book list. This book is certainly a keeper and I will be referring to it a lot. It goes beyond giving my children the world because I am using this to give my self the world since I love children's books anyway

We homeschool, and I used this book to participate in the summer book club by the author. It was great because I could take it to the library and check out several of the books for the next few weeks. I really enjoyed sharing the beautiful picture books about children from other cultures with my kids.

I found this book to not only give amazing resources for what we needed, but I also enjoyed that the author wrote of their life and the adventures that had brought them to the point of writing this book. A MUST HAVE in your home library.

I am so thrilled I came across this amazing author and book! It is a labor of love I can tell, well written, divided by ages perfectly. Jaime has a gift and it would be wise to make sure this book is on your shelf. I'm just starting out with homeschooling, kindergarten, but it's been an awesome reference even at this age. AND I'm excited that it will be my go to for many years to come! I really enjoy how it is divided up and how to cross reference material for specific studies. It is SO EASY TO USE.

This is a wonderful resource for our Homeschooling and I absolutely love it! Jamie has spent a considerable amount of time researching and putting this book together and it is fantastic. I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in educating their children about countries and cultures of the world and would like book recommendations to help that process. As we homeschool and are studying world geography it has helped me in so many ways as I trust Jamie's wisdom and personal experience to create this wonderful book.

This book is an invaluable resource for me both as a mom and homeschooler to 4 children. It provides a great booklist to help me choose solid reading material for a range of ages. It also helps me offer my children more material including cultural diversity than I would find on my own.

Love this book recommended it to other homeschooling friends. Fantastic book lists. We have decided to extend it from just the summer to year long and fit in much more. My kids are still not reading on their own yet, but we have used this and the list to really spark their learning and interest.

I love this book!! Its such a great resource! Its nice to have a reference book like this on our shelves. When I got it I went through with 3 highlighters and marked the books that we've read already, if we loved it, liked it, or disliked it. As time goes on, it will be nice to be able to go back and revisit our favorites with my kids now, or grandkids in the future.

I absolutely loved this book. It has been a wonderful resource as we strive to expose our child to different cultures around the world. As a busy mom, I'd love to have time to compile a list myself, but Jamie has done such a wonderful job with this book, that I don't have to do that!

We went on quite an adventure with this book. Many of the books I read from the book list gave me goosebumps and are now classics in out family. We were trying to do a continent a week, but to be honest we got lost in Africa for a month including doing simple service projects and connecting our hearts to the people and their culture.

A big portion of the book is a mini-autobiography in which she talks about how she acquired her children. It's the same story she tells over and over and over again, in her other book and on her blog and in every single interview I've read. It does use up a lot of pages though.
The actual book list (which really is just a book list w/o summaries) is quite mediocre. I bought it thinking there would at least be some gems, nope, just wasted $7. There are so many other books that are much better that don't have all the social media hype. An example? 'Around the World with Historic Fiction and Folktales' by Beth Zarian. Or 'Reading the World with Picture Books' by Nancy Pollette. Or if you're online, just google "children's book for ___ country."
