This is the first of the Mother/Daughter books that I read and I loved it. Came across it at Half Price Books while waiting for my son to pick something out of the YA books. Decided to buy it, read it and enjoyed it! I went on to purchase 2 more of the series on Kindle (will review them in a bit) and enjoyed them as well. The author builds a wonderful & interesting world for her readers.

The book the Mother-Daughter book club and the rest of the books in this seris are some of the most amazing books ever! Unlike many books these day for Middle School aged kids this book was very lighthearted and happy.
The mix of different personalitys in this book was perfect leaving the book with an A+ for characters. The characters in this book are as followed-

Emma-Loves to read, has little money, and very self-consious

Jess-A braniac, worried about her family, loves animals, and has many talents

Catherine-Sporty, tough, sad that her dad died, lonley

Megan-Girlie, fashionable, undisisive about who she should hang out with

I would deffinatly reccomend reading this and I promise......you will get hooked!!!

A fondness for Little Women is a definite requirement for enjoying this book. It takes place in Concord, Massachusetts and is replete with colonial and Transcendental history, as well as the more personal history of Louisa May Alcott and her family.

These historical factoids are sprinkled throughout the story of 4 sixth-graders whose mothers decide to form a mother-daughter book group. They read Little Women over the course of the school year, and as they progress through the book they draw parallels to their own lives. Unfortunately, these parallels sometimes feel forced, as though the author had said "Oh, this is a lovely quote, now let's write a scene to demonstrate it."

The four girls themselves are well-drawn characters. Unfortunately, other characters come across as flat, if not as caricatures of a type.

For all that, the device of rotating the perspective among the four girls works well to keep the story moving along, and one might get some nostalgic enjoyment from it, especially if you remember reading Little Women with your own mother...

This book is very sutible for preteens and teens alike. It has alot of suspense and surprises plus it also increses the vocabulary. As I said earlier this book is sutible for preteens and teens but I especially recommend this book for preteens. As this is when most of the changes happen. However most of the changes in this book are socially, prepearing preteens (and teens if they haven't gone through it yet) for the big stuff in life and showing that everything is not perfect but most things always sorts its self out out in the end. Further more, aside from this book being educational (as in the high vocabulary) it is also immensly funny!

I loved reading this book. My daughter bought it at her book fair in school and she wasn't interested. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and it kept my interest from start to finish. It's a feel good book; realistic view of the tween girls and how they work through their differences. Wish my 9 year old would read it. Maybe some day.

MOTHER - DAUGHTER BOOK CLUB
What a delightfully fun and charming book! And a perfect way to bring moms and daughters together to forge a lifelong love of reading. This is a fresh and funny story about four 6th grade girls (Megan, Jess, Emma & Cassidy) who find unexpected friendship through a book club formed by their mothers. The girls come from differing backgrounds and there are twists and turns and unexpected surprises that keep the pages turning quickly. The story is divided into chapters voiced by each of the girls, and the quirky characters that inhabit their town and the misadventures they experience in navigating their way through life help them learn valuable life-lessons about friendship, family and the importance of love and self-esteem. The book they are reading in their club is LITTLE WOMEN by Lousia May Alcott, a true treasure that girls (and moms) will be encouraged to discover or rediscover for themselves. THE MOTHER-DAUGHTER BOOK CLUB is a TERRIFIC book, and a wonderful way to encourage girls to read. It would also make a wonderful TV show or movie!

I honestly loved this book and series, there are four books in the series: 1. The Mother Daughter Book Club 2. Much Ado About Anne 3. Dear Pen Pal 4. Pies and Prejudice. I have read the whole series and I absolutely loved every single one of them. I think the titles are very clever, as are the books. Fredrick produced a wonderful children's book and will be shared for generations, as Harry Potter did. (By the way, HARRY POTTER ROCKS!)

even if nobody wants to participate in it,the mothers set up a mother daughter book club!Cassidy has hockey,Megan wants to go shopping,Emma wants to read and Jess has half moon farm to deal with. Will this book club find a way to deal with one another or will this book club turn out to be a flip flop disaster?

This is a marvelous book about the beginning of a friendship between four girls who are in no way similar. With bookworm Emma, smart Jess, fashionista Megan, and athletic Cassidy, this is a classic book of getting to know your own mother better, as well as make some new friends. It's funny, eventful, and just a perfect book to read. You absolutely must read the series in order, it could be confusing to read them out of order. READ IT!!! YOU'LL LOVE IT!!

This book is smart and adorable on so many levels. It promotes reading between mothers and daughers, features a fabulous finale, four characters the every girl can relate to, and best of all it makes daughters of all ages feel great about themselves. A feel-good of the highest order. I can't wait for the movie!
