World of WarCraft is a nearly 25 year old franchise that was originally created to be an extension of the WarHammer universe. When GamesWorkshop decided that they wanted to go another direction, Blizzard said 'Okay, sure, we will make our own game franchise'. The rest, as they say, is history.

Which is why they need these books. Lets be honest. Things have changed in 25 years. Things that the development team wrote way back then probably seemed super cool and awesome to include. But now, looking back on it, they see gaps, holes in the stories that they had decided would work awesome as a straight RTS story but simply does not work or service the story that they are trying to tell today. The Chronicle Books attempt to fill in some of those holes and make the rest of the WarCraft universe better.

WarCraft Chronicle Volume 2 continues down the same lane that the first began, with one major exception. This book handles a lot more of what happened on the Orc's homeworld, Draenor, and how that world came to be and how the orc race came to be. It describes how the orcs came to Azeroth, what pushed them to do that, and more importantly, WHY they ultimately chose to come to Azeroth. The book completes itself by going in depth into both the First and Second Wars on Azeroth, filling in many more of the gaps that people have been wondering about for many years. I won't 'spoil' any of the revelations, but just know that they are some of the most welcome additions and clarifications to that timeline that Blizzard has put in since the games themselves were created.

I would like to note that there is very little, if any, retconning going on in this book. What we mostly get is clarifications and stories to help make the world better and more developed. It is especially a boon for Roleplayers because it gives them more knowledge and more story with which to play. It also does not answer every single question that we have about the WarCraft universe. Rather than doing that, the clarifications actually offer more chances for individual interpretation and wacky theories to emerge.

For any kind of fan of the lore of WarCraft, this book is amazing, well worth the five stars. The book is laid out beautifully, flowing very well from the first opening page all of the way to the last. The artwork scattered throughout this 200 page tome is some of the most beautiful artwork I have ever seen. I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend reading it if you are a fan of the lore that has a great knowledge of the lore of the WarCraft universe or simply getting started. It is well worth your purchase, time, and effort.

For Azeroth!!!!!

Great book. My daughter loves it. Tons of fun detail on Draenor, etc., etc. But the binding fell apart a month after purchase. We bought vol. I, too. It's binding fell apart 2 days after it arrived. Vol. I we got replaced, but vol. II, we are too late. The pages are separated from the spine and falling out. Really shoddy binding job on a book that's going to be read again and again. Disappointing.

Really enjoyed the first part of this book, concerning the beginnings of Draenor. But everything that came after was nothing more than a very summarized re-telling of the books: Rise of the Horde, The Last Guardian, Tides of Darkness, and Beyond the Dark Portal; with a few retcons thrown in the mix. Was really hoping for a lot more new information: like, what happened to the Draenei after the events of Rise of the Horde, but there was just the same story retold with a few retcons. Still worth the read for the origins of Draenor though.

Initially, I was confused by the timeline of this second installment, but eventually it did make sense in the larger historical context. It seems to delve farther back than book one, but eventually provides a simultaneous trajectory with book one.

Bought this item specifically for a sibling as a Christmas gift. Received the item on time as expected (next day prime shipment) TODAY. Although this item was CHECKED as a "gift order"; neither the gift receipt and/or gift message were no where to be found inside the box when opened. It IS on their Christmas list, so I'm not extremely concern about the receipt nor the message. The item was nicely wrapped in plastic for protection with no damage or any corner dents at all. There weren't any bubble wrap or any sort for support or extra protection INSIDE the box.. not that it needed it though. Such a thick, exactly AS SHOWN & AS IS on the store, and perfectly brand new (hard cover) book. Thank you so much!

BEWARE! Blizzard comes up with great games due to their excellent team of developers and creators but the company itself is only after its consumers money. If you have any problems with billing and wanna buy the games or anything with handing them money they will be on top of the situation but when it comes down to your accounts being hacked or having issues with your account they will either stall you and take forever to resolve it or dont even do anything and mark your ticket as resolved. I've tried to deal with their live chat service only to get really rude people back i still have the conversations in case if anyone tries to say it was only cause i was being rude to them which i wasnt at all. Overall if you guys want to just kill time u can try out Blizzard games but if you guys actually want to have all your work saved and secured dont invest any money or time into blizzard games cause if you have an issue they WILL NOT help. BBB has almost 50 reviews on blizzard with only 2 positive ones and if you look at blizzard customer service forums only a few has actually been good when a majority are left with negative reviews. If it wasnt for how much effort and good their game developers which provides the awesome games we love... this company wouldve been trashed for the way they treat their consumers
