I really like this author and I was excited to start a new series of hers. Reagan is tough crazy woman who has had a hard life and it just gets worse. She has to teem up with vampires to solve a big mystery. It was a crazy ride and I look forward to the next one!

I was hooked on this book immediately. Magic, vampires, and humor.. what more can you ask for? I love K.F. Breene and her bad ass female leads! Reagans attitude and no nonsense speaking is fantastic! She is my inner badass I wish I could be, but alas I will have to stick with living it out thru these great books! A must read for sure!!

This book is a playful romp and exciting adventure all at once. The female lead is fierce and funny. The male lead is dark and mysterious. If you are a fan of the Darkness series, get in here! If you're not a fan, I'm not really sure why you're even still reading this. If you're on the fence about being a fan, read this book and be converted! You'll be dazzled by the magic and devoted to the characters. I cannot wait ro read more books in this series!

Woo hoo! A new and interesting series! I got hooked on this first book. Reagen...I absolutely loved her! She has a smart mouth, kicks ass and has a strange sense of humor. Darius has a bit of mystery surrounded him but they make a good team. Can't wait to see where this goes.

To tell the truth, this is the first book o have read of this type. It was good, liked the characters and the issues they have going between two realms. Yes imagination and battles are good. This was hard hitting and well developed. Will try the second just for fun.

I love this author and always look for new books from her. It started out really good and then I found myself getting bored about a third of the way in. I can't really put my finger on what it was but the story lacked something. Maybe it was the in depth, page long magic explanations. I might read the second if I run into when it comes out.

Of course it was awesome does Ms Breene ever write a story that isn't? It's a rhetorical question. Well I loved the Heroine she was a BA and snaky and vulnerable all at the same time canr get better than that and best of all she was smart! Not sure yet what to make of Darius time will tell...

I somewhat enjoyed reading about Reagan, showing an unusual lineage with equally unusual powers. And Darius and his faction weren't entirely trite for vampires. All in all this was an enjoyable book, although not a great one . Still, I will read the next in hopes it gets better. I give this one 3.5*s.

This is a story about a young woman who is a bounty hunter. She goes after magical criminals. She has a unique scent and hides her type of magic so no one knows what she is. This story is filled with humor and is a great read. I definitely recommend this book and this author. K.F. Breene always delivers excellent books!

This is my first KF Breene novel and I freaking loved it!could not out it down! I absolutely loved Regan's snarky badassery. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series to see her and Darious interact again.

Great start to the series. I fell in love with each of the characters, I think this can be a epic story with action and romance. Hopefully in the next book we'll see more between Reagan and Darius together, Breene can write some amazing sexy scenes, like in the Darkness Series, I can't wait to see what happens next.

One of the best books I've read in a long time (and I have read some books let me tell you) witty and hilarious beyond compare. I am so impressed, though I was truly heartbroken when I realized that I have to wait for the second! I'll be waiting here on pins and needles for the next in this series.

I loved every word of Reagan's narration. The funny moments had me laughing out laugh and getting stitches. The mystery was fun to unravel, and the ending a surprise. <SPOILER ALERT> I totally guessed the Mage was a girl when they were walking the path to the land of eternal light.

This is a series I could see going for quite a few books. The secretive nature of the heroine, intrigue between all the factions, different realms, lots of powers...plus good writing! I'm looking forward to more.

Hilarious! A female Deadpool essentially. I laughed so much. It was a refreshing change of pace. Fun and full of action and comedy and a slow build romance which are my favorite. Highly recommend. Can't wait to read the next one.

It had a little bit of everything, and moved along really quickly.
It was also really funny, which is rare for Urban Fantasy.
I really enjoyed the dialogue between Reagan, and Darius.
I think this going to be a great series!

I expected a sappy paranormal romance. Not my favorite genre. But instead got a book with a bit of romance and a badass female and really great character development. A delightful read. I recommend this author whose style and prose is interesting and engaging. I'm looking forward to reading more.

I wish my brain functioned that quickly to give such fun put-downs or even just fun questions at inappropriate times. The characters are well developed but still mysterious. Strong, strong, strong female lead who makes reading the book so much of a page turning fun fest. Waiting for the next book

I am a very picky reader- the more I skim a book the worse it is. I didnt skim ANY parts of this -this book was well written, interesting, had a cool story line with great hidden back-stories, and had a really kick-ass heroine who could hold her own. I can't wait for the next in the series.

I really liked this book. It had good character And plot development, building up this story and the rest of the trilogy. The story was moving and while I was able to pin down a few (& the correct one) choices of her father, but was not able to pin down the baddie until the end (good misdirection without being stupid or haphazard) was revealed. Look forward to the development of a relationship between Reagan and Darius, plus more info on Both her parents and her two dual mage friends and neighborhood crew/mage in training

As a keen follower of K.F. Breene, reading Born in Fire was high on my priority list. What a riveting story. You can translate that into I sure haven't gotten a lot done these last two days. The strong characters were a delight to discover along the way. More soon, please. (Note the please, Ms Breene.)

What a fantastic read. The story line was addictive. The characters were well written with enough oomph and tension to keep you wanting more. I very much look forward to the next instalment.

I meant to say so good but then I thought hey good and funny equal goofy so why not leave it?! Truly though this is a fast paced read with a smart aleck protagonist who says the funniest things. Ready for book two!

Born in Fire was kick ass and hilarious! The story line was entertaining and kept you glued in the whole time and the small hints of romance keep you excited to see what happens in the next book. Was great full the heroine could take care of her self and was confident but wasn't so arrogant she couldn't accept help which in other novels always leads to unnecessary mistakes. Great writing with only very few typos and super excited for the next installment. Will be looking into this authors other works for sure

I’m so excited to read the next book. Sometimes the details get complicated though and I’m not totally sure what’s going on but the overall idea is clear. Still a great story and don’t like putting it down.

I wasn't sure what I'd think about this book at first. I chose it to fill the gap while waiting on other books to come out and I ended up loving it. Reagan has definitely become a favorite character of mine!

The plot is fast paced and does mot really make sense until the story finishes. At the conclusion the main character's true nature is revealed. It makes for a shakey story and not very compelling.
I enjoy K.F. Breene, but this was not a book I found very compelling.

I can honestly say that not only was this a fun and funny read, but I am astonished by how well it was written in general. Editing was clearly spot on as well. Breene might be a new favorite of mine. I definitely intend on finishing this trilogy!

This book has tons of potential. The heroine should have been witty and sarcastic but misses the mark. The interplay between the two main characters doesn't flow and falls flat. Characters flit in and out of the story line with little set up or exit. It almost seems like I jumped in mid series and am missing a bunch of information. I read for free on KU and would definitely not have paid to read. I didn't even finish the book. I liked the author's other series Chosen but just couldn't make this one work for me.

This storyline seems very much like a Kate Daniels and Rachel Morgan knock-off to me on the surface. The world building was a little vague, but the characters were fun and there was some good romantic tension, so I'm definitely going to read the next one in the hopes that something a little deeper develops.

This novel was unlike anything else I've read! It was extremely heavy on the Paranormal, which I love, but still had fantastically written characters. I honestly love this novel to the point that I couldn't put it down. It's a must read.

Great story-line and character development. The interaction and chemistry between the two main characters definitely made me want to read on and on. A little mystery. A little magic. A little flirting. And a boat load of of humor. What more could you ask for?

Supernatural bounty hunter tracks down evil made with help of sexy vampire. I enjoyed the authors voice and humor. I'm not really into sexy undead so could have lived without that element. At times the world felt a bit like True Blood which I liked until I didn't. Don't expect to read the sequel.

Loved this book. I love an awesome, bad mouthed, kick ass heroine and this book had her. Reagan. Add in Darius the scowling vampire and along with Callie and Dizzy, you end up with an action packed somewhat romance read. I am looking forward to the next installment.

I enjoyed the mystery as to what Reagan really was and where her powers came from as well as the banter between her and her vampire partner Darius. This book was a great combination of supernatural, thriller, and mystery. To my surprise, I really enjoyed it.

I didn't think I'd find anyone who could write like Kim Harrison, but Breene succeeds and at the same time throws in a bit of Stephanie Plum with the bounty hunter and the humor. She gets added to my top ten authors.

I really enjoyed this book! While it had a Kate Daniels feel to it--daughter hiding from all powerful father, it was so funny and well written. I can't wait for the other books, and will be delving through books she has already published for more hidden gems.

I found this in kindle unlimited. Usually the books are ok, but nothing to write home about. I LOVED this book! Its funny witk the right amount of camp, a little sexy, a little romance and the characters are well fleshed out while leaving you wanting more. I'm excited to read the next books in the series, which I just bought, even though they are on unlimited!

This needs to be more than a trilogy. You've created a wonderful world and cast of characters but you left a lot unanswered. There's so much that could be expanded on, it just ended prematurely. Please, please expand beyond the three, and I don't mean the spinoff series, which is good

Wow just absolutely wow! I could not put the book down! I can not wait for the next one to come out......Reagan and Darius ended being some kickass partners and I'm excited to see what is in store for them next!! Dizzy and Callie were just delightful!!

LOVED this book !! Great storyline from beginning to end - a perfect 10 for me. Such fun and so much magic !! The characters were all exactly what the story needed - can't say enough good things about this book. I love K.F. Breene's writing.

I really enjoyed this story. It was a great twist on the supernatural. The in depth descriptions were just right and i read every word. I have a tendency to become bored with too much boring detail. Not boring.

This seems to be the start of another well written and intriguing series. The protagonist's otherness runs throughout the book (reminds me of Jane Yellowrock). There are intriguing characters in supporting roles; hopefully, we will learn more about them, in the next two books.

I saw this book as an ad on the store and I thought since it was free for Kindle Unlimited that I would give it a shot. All I can say is that I couldn't put it down! I love the storyline and character development throughout the book. When I completed the book I was sad that I had to wait 3-4 days for the next one to be released! I pre-ordered without hesitation and I am so excited to start reading it!

This book is a great find! I read it with the kindle unlimited service and I am so happy it is on there. It has an early Anita Blake feel to it, except Reagan has a way better personality than Anita has ever had. She is funny, a little crazy, and completely badass. I could not put this down.

Another great urban fantasy series! Rich characters. A story concept that kicks butt and no doubt will hold the test of time. Wish I'd discovered after there were already several in the series as I'll be watching and anticipating the next one!

I read this as part of Kindle Unlimited. I'm a prolific reader and normally don't review. This book demands a review. It's rare that a fantasy author can make a paranormal world so "real" by including those not-so-glamorous life details that keeps us humble. The heroine isnt sexy, superheroe perfect. Even so, I laughed, enjoyed, and couldn't put this book down.

It's in your face yet subtle at the same time. Snarky and engaging, with great fight scenes that kept the heroine humble while kicking butt. Best of all, the story has great timing and constantly surprises with truly unpredictable twists and turns.

I am so glad I only have to wait on 2 weeks for the next book.

I found KF Greene by accident with the Darkness books. They were very raw...but Sasha won me over and the style of writing just worked. This one however....

Straight up blew me away. All the bones and force of characters from the other world is fully present and kicking. And shiny. Very polished and enjoyable. And I loved the reveal.

I'm obsessed. I love bad ass female characters who are strong and powerful. The mystery surrounding our heroines heritage is both alluring and down right amazing, once revealed. Coupled with a sexy vampire, shifters and witches I'd like to curl up and live here please.

So there I was, trying to find something to read. This book popped up in my recommendations. Reading The description I worried that I was in for Twilight round two. But I took a flyer on it, I'm pleased, heavy action a relatively cohesive story, fun and funny. My only complaint being a few parts where it was hard to follow directly what was going on. This might have been my fault as I read the book on my phone, and that sometimes leaves me reading in thirty seconds spurts. Overall though this was thoroughly enjoyable and I highly recommend.

Wow I have not read a book like this one in a long time. Right away my interest was piqued. The characters were amazing and the storyline had zero hang ups. This author clearly knows her craft well and I am most anxiously awaiting Book 2.

Great read! Reagan is my new favorite KF Breene character. She's smart, funny, and a magical badass. This new series promises what I love from this author - transporting me to a crazy paranormal world with interesting characters, suspense, and romance. I also like how the story ends without cliffhangers, yet keeps enough loose ends that I will want to read the next book to find out more.

Good story line and not too much exposition about how the fae world works, like so many of these authors. I am not sure why people think it is hilarious. It is not, although there is a bit of humor, which is a good thing.

This is another good read. Funny witty and action packed. Full of magical creatures happening in a natural world. A big plus the heroin is a SHE, intelligent and bad ass! Love this book I can't wait for the next one.

This is called a paranormal romance but that doesn't do it justice. The main character is kick ass, whitty and interesting. The story is fast paced and edge of your seat. Do yourself a favor and read this!

A bounty hunter with no identity and a very old vampire work together, sort of, to take down a rogue mage bent on power. Secrets the vampires don't want out are at stake and so is the identity of Reagan's unique power.

I enjoyed this book. It wasn't amazing but it was interesting. The plot was well developed and the climax was definitely surprising. The characters were fun and I loved Reagan. All and all it was a good story.

Love the book and can't wait to read more. Love this author and all of the series I have read by Breene. It is well written, exciting and very often laugh out loud funny. Please hurry with the next segment

I love all of her books and will continue to read them in the future. This series is no exception. She is a very good writer, and I hope she has a successful career. Read the whole series and then read all of her others. Totally worth it.

Little bit of a spoiler alert: Book has no real nookie and no HEA however still an absolutely awesome book and I am super bummed second book isn't out yet. Do not let anything in my first sentence keep you from reading this book. It has vampires, werewolves, witches, demons, and best of all unicorns. Yes you heard me correctly... unicorns... awesome book.

Reagan is a bounty hunter with a secret to hide and is put in between a proverbal rock and hard place when she's forced to take a job that has her working in close proximity to a elder vampire, Darius. The book features a kick-butt heroine, unique world building, and a sexy vampire (and who doesn't love that!).
The plot moves quickly and I was enjoying the various twists and turns of the plot. However, I had some issues with this book. I had trouble liking Reagan, especially her sense of humor. Her quirkiness felt forced. Also, I found myself having to reread segments because there are so few dialogue tags that I couldn't keep track of who was saying what.

Gah....I'm kicking myself for starting this series before all the books were published. I loved this book!!! Seriously...loved it!! I've never read a book by this author before. But I'll be sure to check out other books by this author now.

Filled with action, fun , and a touch of romance, Born in Fire was an easy read. I enjoyed the levity which is quite different from my previous experience with Breene. Really excited to read the next book in the series.

Slow at first but picked up fast. Well developed story, but why do all supernatural stories take place in new orleans. Lots of humor thrown in along with serial innuendo but can't wait for the next one to come out.

I love this book and all the characters and you will too. This one is a must read if you are a fan of down right hilarious paranormal mystery. If you are looking for a new series this is it. Happy reading.

This was a very fun read. Reagan's narrative is hysterical and I love the dynamic between Reagan and Darius and the world that is developing between the Realm and the Brink. I'll be very interested to see where her story goes next with the foundation that has been laid out here.

Wow where do even begin with this book! It's another great story from Kf Breene! There are only a few authors who I automatically one click their books and she is one of them! I can not wait until part two! The characters are so entertaining and I could hardly put the book down! You won't regret this one or any of her books!

What a great start to a series! I love NOLO as a setting and once again magical beings are playing havoc with us humans and the heroine has amazing sizzle with her teamed up partner. Love the old couple of mages. Love the whole magical bounty hunter with secrets. Can hardly wait for book 2!

If you haven't picked up this book yet, I highly suggest you do. All the other reviews do not disappoint. This book has a great balance of action and snark with a tad bit of romance to round things out.

This book is very different than other paranormal stories. It is quirky and sometimes a little confusing but it intrigued me enough that I will read the next book in the series to see how it plays out.

This free online book was unexpectedly good. I was taken on a wild ride of magic, vamps, and demons. Though the demon thingy gave away the most important part of the plot, it was done well. Great writing too. I rarely give 5 star reviews.

Never had read this author before, I have been missing out!!!! Loved the story and that it moved fluently. Love Reagan! Interested to see how some of the side characters come into play in the future books! I'll be checking out her other titles while I wait!

A fun and well written urban fantasy with a kick-ass heroine forced to work with a hot vampire on a mysterious mission. Good choice for fans of Karen Chance, Patricia Briggs, and strong female protagonists.

Ms. Breene builds her characters with finesse. With a solid story line that unfolds through various twists she is able to reveal just enough to keep you reading well into the night...and sometimes early morning. The end is clean for this book, even though it is a series. I can't wait to see what happens next.

I normally only comment on books that I enjoy however I'm making an exception here. I heard a lot of great things about this book but for me it was a waste of time. In fact, I gave up about 1/2 way thru. I felt the story line had potential. Who doesn't love a good vampire story? I can't say it was anything specific, but just the general story line could not keep my attention. I wish I could have liked it more, but I just didn't.

This was the first book I read by this author. At first I was a little taken aback by the language and situations the main character found herself in, most authors just "won't go there". I came to love Reagan and Darius and all their interactions.

I was a fan of her Finding Paradise series, so I thought I'd give this one a try as well. Great fantasy/reality setting and a kick-ass female lead character. Love it so far, going to get the next one right now.

The plot started to differentiate itself at the end, but honestly, the main character and plot felt like a knock off of Ilona Andrews's Kate Daniels, in a slightly less developed world. If you liked the main character in this, I would recommend that series; book one is called Magic Bites.

This book has been a pleasure...with all the paranormal books being written this one takes the cake. New plot new twist GREAT characters. Hands down it is a must read!!! I can not wait to see what's next. Bravo

This book is not a romance. They have a few sentences of horny dialog and a couple kisses (under the influence). I did not feel a romantic connect between them. I kept waiting for it. Anyway the female lead has a lot of sarcastic humor which I do love. Good story. It kept you guessing but you have to pay attention. There's a lot of think out plots and going back and forth to figure out the mystery. It deals in mage, witch, warlock, vampire and shifter characters. It is a mystery story.

That's what I was looking for, something familiar but different enough to hold my attention. This book hit the nail squarely. Felt like the beginning was a little disjointed, like I was plopped into the action without any build up and I wasn't sure that would suit me but I loved it. Looking forward to getting to know these characters more.

This was a book I could read over and over again! I loved every minute of it. If you are looking for an independent women who can carry her own and look good kicking ass this is the series for you. (Without the waist pack) LOL The characters are so thought out they have their own personality and corks to go with it.

This book definitely surprised me. I really enjoyed it. I didn't particularly like the heroine as a character, which made how much I enjoyed this book a surprise. It's a great storyline and well written and the things I dislike about the heroine are what's makes the story more interesting.

I liked the humor mixed in with all the blood and gore. So you can giggle and get squeamish at the same time. The characters are described well and the plot had enough twists and turns that kept me guessing. Overall a good, fun read.

This book was smart, funny and I couldn't guess what the secret of her bloodline was until it was revealed. I really enjoyed the hint of passion without just automatically have the characters in love, sexing it up, and unable to live without each other from the get go. This book has me waiting for the next book.

K F Breene has become a favorite author of mine. I usually don't write reviews, but her books are really good. The female lead is strong without being totally egotistical, there is humor, action and some sex. Every book in her darkness series is good and this one is too. Thank you K F Breene for another great book, I look forward to the next in this series.
