This book was very insightful on sales and understanding What the customer REALLY wants. This book is really good for people that is not the true sales man but, maybe more effective in the technical side of the sales.

I always heard of Zig Ziglar and finally purchased a book by him... and never will again. I do not like to put books down but this book really did not have anything for me. It states the obvious and is not enticing at all

"Selling 101" is a scaled down version of Ziglar's more robust sales book "Ziglar on Selling." With that said, Ziglar provides a basic summary of required sales skills and processes that are perfect for the beginner. The book is also very short and you can probably burn through it in a couple of hours. It is best used as a primer to determine where your weaknesses are so that you can find other material to shore them up. In my case, closing the sale would be an area to further explore. It's a little dated as the whole "getting to yes" approach has been so overused that it's pretty ineffective. My only serious complaint about the book is that it's written from the perspective of a sales organization...and can be difficult to apply for an individual entrepreneur who doesn't have a sales manager to consult. He also doesn't provide much depth in the most important skills - especially in closing the sale - without pointing you to his other works. A great primer, but a little lean.

Great Book! I read this book because I was getting ready to self publish my children's picture book, "Pray Today!". I wrote and illustrated this book and wanted to sale this book door to door. Zig Ziglar's book "Selling 101" helped me to sale most of my entire stock of books! I met people and was able to connect with them and to build a relationship with them. As a result they would buy my book "Pray Today!" for there children to read and enjoy. In a way it helped me to win soul's for Christ. Selling and soul winning have a lot in common.

Developing your own sales style takes time and practice. One of the most effective ways to learn is through the stories of others. Nobody does a better job of telling inspirational stories than Zig. The central premise behind Zig's philosophy is that "you can get everything you want if you help others get what they want." Sure it sounds a bit folksy, but it's very true. The underlying motivation we have when approaching prospects is the key to how they will react to us. When I was writing Unique Sales Stories: How To Get More Referrals, Differentiate Yourself From The Competition & Close More Sales Through The Power Of Stories I recognized that Zig's style of conversational storytelling was a model that most of us would benefit from emulating. This is a timeless classic that all of us who sell for a living are well advised to add to our permanent library.

'Selling 101' is an easy to read and understand introduction to sales technique for those new to selling, or a quick review for experienced sales people who need a refresher. The book can be read quickly, but to get the most out of it return to each section and determine how you can apply the principles there to improve your skills.
There are chapters on overcoming call reluctance, need analysis, closing, dealing with angry clients, making the most of your time and more. You are sure to pick up at least a few good ideas. Part motivation, part how-to, 'Selling 101' may be just what you need to improve your sales results a little or a lot.

Zig Ziglar has done it again. As an author myself of sales books, I realize sales is about so much more than just having the 'gift of gab,' and fast talking. It's about asking the right questions and listening to the right answers. It's about not just being a consultant to others, but being a consultant to yourself. It's recognizing you are in the most honorable profession there is. Zig's theories exemplify this.

This is just a great book for sales professionals - be reminded of the basics, get some inspiration and re-focus your efforts. This is not just about making more sales, it's mostly about being and giving the best you can.
Ziglar has a way to touch the reader's most inner thoughts. I like this book a lot.

For a person that's just getting started in Sales this is a great book. It's not very long, it gets to the point and makes you use it in your daily life. I recommend it to all and advise to get what you can out of it and use it in your practical life.

Selling 101 is exactly what it sounds like - a great book full of everything anyone aspiring to be a professional sales person needs to know. The best thing about the book is the way it forms a checklist to help you find out if you really do have what it takes.
