Another Coben triumph. Fascinating characters, a plot that unravels at just the right pace to keep the reader hooked on the story, and a cliff hanger ending that demands the purchase of the next Mickey Bolitar novel.

Shelter is a great first entry for the Mickey Bolitar series. Everyone is giving it bad reviews because they are expecting it to be exactly like the Myron Bolitar series. That's ridiculous. The Mickey series is for a slightly younger audience, and if you go into it with that in mind, it is actually a good read with an interesting storyline. Also, Ema and Spoon are excellent and fun supporting characters for Mickey. I can't wait to read more from this series. Keep up the good work, Mr. Coben and ignore all the haters!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, the first in the Mickey Bolitar series (Nephew of Myron Bolitar) by Harlen Coben. Mickey has a similar, likeable personality to Myron & I'm looking forward to reading the next 'Mickey' book.

Since I enjoyed the Myron Bolitar series so much, I decided to give this new series a try. It is definitely noticeable that they are written for a younger audience. The characters are cute, but they are not as engaging as the Myron series characters are, and they are definitely not as "smart" or funny. The story was engaging, but i would say, overall, mediocre.

As with the second Mickey book, I found the teenagers' involvement in a human trafficking ring to be a bit far fetched. Nonetheless, the enjoyed the story, even if I'm not a young adult. I'm a big Harlan Coben/Myron Bolitar fan and I'm awaiting more developments on Mickey's basketball career.

Mickey Bolitar is also a basketball playing (like his uncle Myron) sleuth, sort of, but the book would be more appealing to someone who can really relate to his lifestyle and background ie, an American. I am in Australia and, to me, Mickey might be more appealing to American people, where Myron, is more mature (as I am) and his talk is more universal. It is a good story but I think more appealing to an audience under 30.

I like the Myron Bolitar novels so I was intrigued by a series featuring his nephew. Harlan Coben does not disappoint. The story is compelling and the character development is good. I am looking forward to reading more about Mickey and his uncomfortable relationship with Myron.

Harlan Coben can surely spin his yarn. Now with the spin-off of Myron's nephew as the lead character, anf wannabe detective, the edge has been dulled a little. I kept waiting for uncle Myron to steo in and save the day

It had a balanced amount of intrigue and humor. There were times when I had to stop and laugh. Made me feel young and adventurous (and I am neither). Really good character development and ties in nicely with Myron.

what we have here, my friends, is crimestoppers 101---- the only thing missing is Scooby doo....we have the tough smart handsome one, the sharp chubby girl, the beautiful cheerleader, and the nerdy sidekick--- where is the dog!!!

Could it get any worse?
Well, it does.
Ostensibly a teen novel, SHELTER will entertain Coben fans of all ages. It's full of very clearly drawn characters, lots of action and some seriously nice plot reversals.
Mickey is a credible narrator and a sympathetic hero. I look forward to more of this series.
The ending struck me as a bit of stretch, though Coben sets up it nicely.
