I love Myron Bolitar! He has integrity and intelligence. These are well written, entertaining and engrossing books. Coben has a sense of humor and writes with a creative flair. Easy to read and sets up the next book of the series. Read one or all for sheer joy and entertainment. Highly recommend it.

Having followed Reacher (although sadly let down by the 18th episode), Bosch, King & Maxwell, Fox and others, I have now embarked on my first Myron Bolitar - and was not disappointed.
It's my second Coben, and surpassed my expectations after the first. I look forward to following the series and looking into other stand alones.

I have really enjoyed some of Coben's novels, but this wasn't enjoyable. I generally don't like his Myron Bolitar books as well as his stand-alone novels, but I liked this the least. It seemed like a formula. For example, every time Myron got in a jam, Win was there to save him. Usually, I can't put Coben books down, but I found this one hard to finish.

My first trip into a Harlan Coben novel was enjoyable, albeit forgettable. Well paced with likeable characters. I wish I hadn't read the Dennis Lehane Mckenzie and Gennaro series before this. I would have been able to enjoy this more for its own merits instead of comparing it to the grittier, deeper, and more polished work of Lehane.

This guy is a keeper! He's very funny, charming, acerbic, sarcastic - just my kind of guy! I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The pace is great, the writing spectacular. I wish there was more about the beginning of the relationship between Myron and Win - I'll bet that's a good story! But I intend to keep reading - perhaps it's in the next one!

I enjoyed this book very much. Had a few 'hooks' and an ending that I didn't expect. Harlan Coben isn't known for his 'happily ever after' endings, and this one lived up to his reputation. I'd love to meet Myron's friend, Win. He just left dead or broken bodies all over the place! Also loved the narrative.

Coben ground out another one of his stories. He has a good sense of humor that translates into good dialogue, however, the stories are always somewhat contrived and formulaic. I will probably have to take a break from this fiction for a period of time - but recommend it to the usual "summer reader". It's a diversion.

Finally discovered the facts of Myron Bolitar's immediate family and the aftermath. Was a bit on too much killiing, but developed the book around each one. Was glad I read it and hope to read The Second Myron Bolitar Novel.

I'm always looking for new mysteries for myself and my husband. I gave this one (the first of a series) a try since the good guy is a sports agent/mystery solver and I knew that would appeal to my husband. It was a good book, a very easy read. Since it was written quite a while ago, I had to readapt my thinking since they still used typewriters and cell phones were called car phones because that's as far as it went then. Also, one of the characters had to 'find a phone' to make a call. Actually that made it a little more interesting to read. I will recommend it to my husband and I will read more of the series, if for no other reason than to find out how the character comes into the 21st century!

I have read all the other Myron Bolitar mysteries so really welcomed this retrospective. The characterizations were better developed as the series continued, which is to be expected. Here the "bones" of them were being laid out, so the story wasn't quite as "rich" as later ones. Still, well worthwhile to read if you like this series.

I enjoy Harlan Coben's writing style, twists and turns in the plot (although sometimes the last details clean up at the end a little too simplistically), and the humor in his dialogue. But he's always worth reading.

This is a different kind of detective and a different style of detecting. If you have a sarcastic streak, you'll enjoy this book. His way of speaking (and thinking) may take a few chapters to grow on you, but it becomes a good mystery and a good read.

I, personally, have read every Harlan Coben book and I loved the Myron Bolitar series. I am so sad that he has fazed out this character. I bought this book for my son who is in another state and after reading it he asked me to send more.

I bought the first book in the Bolitar saga because of Michael Connelly. I am a huge fan of Harry Bosh and I thought (as the writers are friends and also speak great things about each other) that I would enjoy this saga. I didn't. The second book is even worse. A sport agent who lives with his parents and solves crimes? The story is even worse, believe me. I don't know if the story gets better (because I know there are many books in the saga) but the first two are the worse.

Reasonable plot. Run of the mill characters. Ex FBI + ex pro footballer + martial arts expert + sports agent. Best friend is a cold blooded fighting machine and killer who is always available etc etc.Ex wife makes Miss World look average but they can't live together etc etc.

Really enjoyed this I had previously read Long Lost so decided I wanted to start at the beginning of the Myron Bolitar series. I have to say this novel started out a little slow but still had my interest but took off mid way thru. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that wants to read the Myron Bolitar books from the beginning

The story is interesting. The author's first published book, so it's dated 70's. But it's good. Funny. Dry wit and interesting. I laughed out loud more than once. Enjoying so far and I'm 3/4 done. Saw Harlan Coben on Murder by the Book on TV and thought his writing would be good. I was right. Will read more of his.

Well written and unpredictable. I like it when a book keeps me guessing about "who done it." This one really kept me guessing. I really liked the main character, Myron too. Looking forward to reading more on this series. Harlan coben writes great books.

As always, this book came in great condition and very fast!
Harlan Coben is one of the very best authors ever. I love all of his books, but, this one was for my son who is just starting the Myron Series.
(so far, he is really enjoying it...says "Mom, I can't put it down!")
So, definitely....Harlan rocks as well!!!

Love the Myron Bolitar character, and loved his blonde "enforcer" preppy, Win, even more. What smooth guys. Batman and Robin were never this cool. Hot babes in it, too. Read this book. I think you'll also enjoy it....

I usually like this author's stories but this one is too gimicky for me. The character's are unbelieveable and not endearing. I am not planning to read any more of the Bolitar series but will continue to look for Coben's mysteries.

interesting snapshot of the boston area in the 20's. its where i resided in the 60's so it was relevant to me. i would be interested in what part was fact-based, vs pure-spin. maybe an appendix or something. it would still be rated high even if it was almost all spin - it was very well written.

The cheezy escapades of the sports agent business offers a brilliant insight to some shady doings. Ready to delve into all all of Coben's amusing tales of Myron Bolitar. Where did he come up with that bizarre name? Cheers!

love the Myron bolitar character. Harlan coben creates believable characters and puts them into interesting stories - good plots but not so complicated that you get tired of trying to keep up. especially like win

The author is quite witty and I enjoyed the writing. The story didn't flow very well, however. It seems that it could have been told in much fewer pages. I will have to try other Coben books as I have been told that Myron Bolitar books are not as good as otherd Coben has written.
