Outstanding work by John Carter. He has a great writing style and does an excellent job of explaining the setups he uses for successful trading.
The time I have spent reading this book has been worth every moment, and I have read over 100 books on the subject. As a professional, I trade thousands of option contracts each month, and John's book have given me valuable insight. I, and my clients, owe a huge thank you to John.

This book provided some great insight into measures that help determine the strength of a market move. It is one thing to watch the market go up or down. It is another to know if there is conviction behind the move indicating that it will continue or whether it is out of steam. Additionally there is great insight to the psychology of trading which I found very helpful.
Overall a great book with a lot of useful insights and information.

Anyone new to trading will find this a great read to see how a professional trader views the market. Memorize the setups in this book and it will show you have the work ethics to eventually become a pro trader.

John Carter fully articulates the many pitfalls that traders experience. I've traded full-time for several years and I am a better, more profitable trader since reading this book. My account would certainly have benefited if I had applied (and stuck to) his basic trading discipline and principles from day one. I haven't fully proven out his many trade setups yet, but a few look very promising.

This is probably the best overall trading book I have read in years. It covers all the bases from necessary equipment, to trading plans, to specific strategies. A great overall presentation in a very understandable format. I'm not going to spoil it for others with too much detail....just buy it! Kudos to John.

I think this book was very helpful, it covered different plans, setups, it stresses good money and risk management techniques. I found there could be something of use either from a novice to an experienced person point of view. John Carter puts down some nice example views, and explains them very well, also includes web-sites to see or use. In all I would definitely recommend this book.

A serious book, usefull for trading Stocks, futures, FOREX, etc. Honest, realistic, applicable content written by a professional trader, based on his long experience.
AS Peter Borish - Chairman of One Chicago and Former Head of Research for Paul Tudor Jones - said, "...John Carter's new book is an outstanding place to start a realistic, grounded approach to mastering the trade."

Better than many books out there on trading. Mr. Carter clearly knows what he is doing. However one MAJOR flaw which to me invalidates the usefulness of this book: If Mr. Carter has his indicators in trade station then it should be trivial for him to back-test his strategies. Why are these not in the book? Is it possibly because the results show unprofitable or questionable systems? Impossible to say without the test results. Any reason you left those out Mr. Carter?

the main benefit is to get feeling of profesional trader about the trading , I read several times the sections about the psychology which looks to me the key problem ... I really improved my results after study of this book

Perfect for beginners and advanced. Devour this book. Psychology and detailed technical advice. I've read over 100 books on trading and numerous webinars. I've been trading for 20+ years. Although I've been successful through the years, Carter's approach took me to another level. If there were just one to choose from, this would be it. #2 would be "Trading in the Zone" by Mark Douglass.

This is great book! Highly recommended for beginning traders or anyone who has only traded stocks. This book really got me thinking. Increased my profits! More importantly got me into futures trading. This is an all inclusive guide to day trading. Great sections on trading psychology and how to handle taking trading losses.

Probably the best book out there for those looking to learn about the ins and outs, ups and downs, of day trading. Carter gives wonderful examples of all his strategies, how to work them to your style and also how some of them have changed with the times. His writing is conversational and keeps you entertained and well educated. It has been one of my best investments in helping me make money in the markets.

I really liked this book because it gave extremely clear entries, exits, and advice on trader mentality. The very specific examples were very helpful. I also appreciated Mr. Carter's dry humor--quite amusing. I especially liked his his focus on the power of price vs the chasing of indicators.

Okay.
Include: Swedroe, Bernstein, Bogle, Larimore, Buffet. Get them. Then get online to the "Bogleheads forum", or Morningstar forum.
They are a must for personal investment finance for retirees and those working toward a healthy retirement.

The parts on psychology and money management are okay but they are basically just a rehash of what has already been written by others. The trading methods section didn't keep my interest since I dont have time to watch the markets all day. If you have extra money laying around it might be worth getting but there are better books out there in my opinion, especially for the price.

John Carter has armed traders with the tools to succeed. It is up to each of us to take these tools and a trading plan and adhere to the rules while pushing emotion aside, not an easy challenge but one that is imperative for survival in this profession.

John has written a book that's understandable and has actionable ideas. I appreciate his sense of humor. Rather than explain all the technicalities of trading, he gives you methods you can use to have a chance of having success in trading.

The author gives excellent advice regarding personal trading habits to avoid and those to embrace.
There is also a great amount of detailed technical instructional material.
This book should probably be an essential volume in every traders library.

I bought this book due to the excellent reviews and I agree with all the 5 stars that everyone has given it.
It is so good that I worry too many people reading it, since it is going to be very difficult to take their money if they apply what they read. So please don't read it, I won't make money so easely.

Big book, yes. Some good ideas, yes (not necessarily new)
Skillful advertisement to the "indicator package" yes. Confusion? Of course. So how can we solve this problem? How can we make money using this five star book (as the crowd suggests) I guess he (the writer) expect either subscription to his service or buying the "new" indicators; or both: to increase the odds in your favor. I really disrespect the principle of writing something vague with clear contradiction to what he is preaching in his 8 minutes video about the "scalper indicator". In the book he stress the point of dealing with three consecutive higher closes or three consecutive lower closes "because this where the action settles or closes, because that is where the rubber meets the road" as he say. Now I have a small problem with the incomplete formula in the book (higher than what) but the problem got bigger when I watched his video while talking about three higher highs or three lower lows regarding the same indicator "the scalper" (which is basically a reverse bar) with additional filter that is not mentioned in the book. I do not need to understand what he is trying to do for the buyers of his book and indicators. He is selling short "his" stuff. This scalper is nothing more than going opposite to the pivot point with whatever filter you like to add. The rest of the book is somewhat good reading about trading in general, with very low value regarding new ideas of successful trading. Yes, there are Lots of examples saying the same thing over and over; to print more pages without adding any new ideas to the first example. I am not sure if the five star reviewers have read the book and liked it, the way it is. Or used it profitably I the market. I am not sure what they think about the contradictions (between the book and the website) or the poor ideas in the book. Be aware of visual and mental confusion before you buy. If it was a complex and hard good trading book, then there is no problem to spend more time to get it. But if it is based on confusion and selling gimmicks then it does not worth a penny . this book is empty of anything new, all what you will get is some old stuff with new names, so hopefully - as the writer wish - someone will try using those "new" indicators to sharpen his or her trading edge. some other authors are doing the same strategy to achieve some financial goals as an alternative to what they failed to do trading the markets. the best you can do is to use it as a tool to stimulate your thinking to fix and complete the confused thoughts and come up with your won methods and strategies. I am glad to find something positive in the book by the end of my review. Good luck to you all who believe in this book, you all badly need it

There is no excuse NOT to read this book. Especially if you are struggling to reach you goals. I trade in John's trading room and his insight and experience has helped me to grow my account by 15% in only a month. Many have seen at least a 5% growth by trading with these disciplines.

I have studied the art of trading for several years, but was always missing some key pieces in how to execute consistently with minimal risk. This book gives concrete and clear explanations for trade setups that can make immediate impact on trading. I look at the markets in a whole different way now.

Nicely Done, John!
I love your conversational style, your many trade ideas, and, many examples attached to each idea. I enjoy your humor, too. Your wife and my wife seem to be the same way! :)
A keeper!

While John Carter and I have different trading signals and strategy, what this book helped me to do was create a winning mind set. 95% of trading is all about your psychology and mental state when you're trading, and this book was incredibly helpful in developing that mind set for me.

Initially, I was a bit hesitant on buying this but the trading strategies are sound and the repeated emphasis on psychology really makes this book worth it.
