Review:Contrarian investment guru Doug Casey used to say, "You know the time to dump an investment is when it makes the cover of Time Magazine." I don't rememeber if it was 2004 or 2005 when Time's cover story was "Will Your House Make You Rich?" Casey was right, the time had come to get out of real estate, although profiting from that move was as treacherous as playing a game of high stakes craps in a casino used to fleecing its players.
In a story revealing one man's prescience about the hou... Read more
Review:An interesting tale of life inside a big brokerage house, where the strangest behaviors are normal… if you’re a big swinging dick. It’s a weird dip into a very different life, as the author acknowledges.
It’s half a memoir; the classes and story are told from his perspective, but he takes long asides to explain the politics and organization charts that drive the activity. It sounds like the whole organization underwent a tremendous transformation shortly before he arrived, changing from a... Read more
Review:I think this book has the most information on how to earn money from stocks, combining both fundamental and technical analysis. Although i am from the other side of the world and do not know IBD, this book has helped me identify the right buy points and just recently learning when to sell both to profit and/ or to prevent additional loss. Review:Excellent book. Andrew keeps it concise and packed with discussion and examples of core concepts necessary to learning the trade. I first listened to it on Audible and immediately knew I'd want the Kindle version for highlighting and note taking. My second read through on Kindle reinforced those key concepts, and because it wasn't 8,000 pages of theory or self-promotion (like many other similar books) I really got a lot out of it. I felt it was certainly worth the time and investment, and I ... Read more

Review:My daughter bought this for school as required. Likes the class and learning how to plan her financial future at 21. So proud of her for looking ahead and taking necessary steps to save her money and invest it for a home. She is working two jobs and is financially responsible. Making necessary short term sacrifices as this book teaches. Applying techniques and principles she learned from this book and her class. Listening to mom didn't seem to work as well for her!! Haha! Review:This book is your guide to financial independence, bar none. It's wonderfully written, approachable and demystifies many of the "complexities" of financial machinery. I feel, this book should be mandatory reading for all high school and college kids- imagine if tomorrow's economy drivers were armed with the knowledge and practice of fiscal responsibility! It'd be an incredible thing.
Thanks for sharing your expertise, Jim, I truly am the richer for it. Read more
Review:While reading the book I entered more than 20 sticky notes to remind me to re-read the page again. Incredible amount of useful advice and models. I recommend this book to beginners like me (7 rentals and counting). Easy to read and understand, provides aha moments if you're in the learning curve of a real estate career. I found it useful in learning new ways to think as a problem solver involved in real estate. Read more
Review:While this book should be required reading for the beginning mutual fund investor, those searching for superior returns will not be satisfied.
Mr. Bogle makes a host of important points about mutual funds:
1. There is no reason to buy mutual funds with front-loaded sales charges; they only hurt short and long term performance.
2. At least half of all mutual funds fail to beat the market even before expenses and other charges.
3. Mutual fund investors who do not have a tax-deferred ve... Read more
Review:I enjoy this book, reread it recently after having been given it 10+ years ago by my grandfather. The second time around I found it boring and oversimplified. But still recommend for anyone who is young or new to investing. Read more
