I LOVE this series and Lorelei James. All the Rough Rider books are outstanding, inclusing Raising Kane! You can read this one on its own but you'll enjoy it more if you read them from the beginning. Start withLong Hard Ride (Rough Riders). You get to know Kane a bit in a few of the other books of the series so it was nice to see him "settle" down! Lorelei really makes you want to save a Horse!

I honestly was prepared to not like Kane "Buck" McKay. After all, look what happened to Kade when he got beat up because someone mistook him for Kane in "Tied up, Tied down" But from the first chapter you could see how much Kane was trying to leave behind the bad boy image that had him wrote up as "One of those wild McKay boys" You felt sorry for him with the Brandi incident, Everyone was surprised when he volunteered to help Ginger after her accident.
Honestly I wasn't because not matter how "wild" Those McKay boys were, they were still always gentlemen. But he had the hots for the ginger lawyer for over a year. It was great to see these two come together in such an explosive way, and how Kane fell into the family man role so easy. Like he had been waiting for that all his life. There was the bumps and bruises along the way just like with any relationship but this was a great hot read. Just kept confirming how much I love Lorelei James books.

If you’re interested in this book, chances are you have read other books in this series. That means you already know Kane and, to a lesser extent, Ginger. That may also mean that Kane is not your favorite person…yet. Just as Colt turned his life around before and during Branded as Trouble, Kane has stopped his wild ways. He’s just waiting for his family to see him as someone other than the wild, sex crazed guy he was before.

Not only did the story have tons of heat, as I’ve come to expect from this series; this story also had tons of heart. To watch Kane work through his insecurities and the natural way he reacted to Ginger’s son Hayden was so touching. I hurt for him and cheered for him throughout this whole book. Although his family still messed with him about his past exploits, they also believed in him and didn’t like when he underestimated himself.

Ginger is like Superwoman. She’s a successful lawyer, a single mom, and cares for her dad who is in a wheelchair. She’s used to doing everything for herself and by herself and never asks for help. Ginger is also one of the nicest and most compassionate people in town. Falling and hurting herself is probably the best thing to happen to her since it forced her to accept help. Since that help came in the form of Kane McKay, it also forced Ginger and Kane to face their chemistry.

I appreciated how the author showed Colt as still fallible. So often we see our heroes get their HEA and then they are almost put on a pedestal as all “fixed”. The issues between Kane and Colt showed that love, marriage, and children doesn’t totally change a person.

There’s a bit of a continuation of a story that was started in previous books between Brandt McKay and his brother’s widow, Jessie. I was intrigued when we got a glimpse of their story in Shoulda Been a Cowboy. Now I’m even more interested to see what is going to happen with those two.

One last thing – in the author’s note at the beginning of this one it’s revealed that, although this is listed as book #9, this story actually takes place between the stories of book #7 (Shoulda Been a Cowboy) and book #8 (All Jacked Up). This wasn’t a big deal and is not super noticeable, but if you happen to still need to read book #8 you can go ahead and read this one first if you’d like.

Raising Kane is yet another beautiful story about a misunderstood man and the woman he had silently craved.

There are so many things I enjoyed about this book. Kane is a man who owns up to his past reputation and focuses on forging a life that he could be proud of. Ginger is a woman who has a problem asking for help and focuses on taking care of others. Who knew that a rough and rowdy playboy cowboy-rancher could become the model mentor in the Little Buddies program? Who knew that the independent, responsible, and proper lawyer would fall in love with that cowboy-rancher?

The change in Kane from earlier books to this one is amazing. To be completely honest, I didn’t like him before. But in Raising Kane? I just adore him. The care he took in everything he did for Ginger and her family made me wish for a man like him. The changes in Ginger within the book were amazing as well. I understand her inability to ask for help as I do that as well. But her capitulation inspired me. Their individual insecurities reminded me that it's okay to have them, but I cannot let them rule my life or I will miss the wonderful things in front of me.

I cannot wait for more books from Lorelei James! The feels hit me so hard in this book! That one part that hit Kane? I will admit that I cried. I could swear I felt his pain and sorrow. I want to say more, but I don't want to ruin it for those that have not read it yet. But remember one thing from this review: this is one book that will be on my constant re-read list.

(I received a copy of this book as a gift from a friend at NO cost to the author.)

Lorelei James has been on my radar for several years but like many other authors she is one that kind of fell to the wayside when I started blogging so I was happy to borrow it from the library a week ago and was really excited to read it and ya know what I'm glad I did.

I liked my first dip into the Rough Rider's series, it was actually better than I expected and it surprised me. I don't know about you folks but sometimes erotica can be very much an endeavour of style over substance but this one, I'm happy to say proved me wrong.

I really liked the set up of this book. Single mom, adorable kid, curmudgeon of a father and a cowboy with a darkside who LOVES kids. It's not all that often that I can jump this far into a series and not really feel like I'm missing a hell of a lot and I appreciated the author doing this so while this one does have characters that I know have their own books before and after this one, it can totally be read on it's own.

While this one is billed as an erotic romance, there was a surprising amount of character development and I found that I really got a sense for the town and the people in it despite the heavy emphasis on the romance between tough as nails Ginger and Kane. I loved getting to know the other characters and their little quirks and as much as I loved Ginger and Kane, Ginger's son Hayden really made the story come together. He was adorable! I'm glad he played such a big role in the story and how he was written. I also loved how he was able to act as a bridge not just between Ginger and Kane but between Kane, and Ginger's elderly wheelchair bound dad, Dash.

Ginger and Kane made a great couple. She was really likable. I loved how strong and independent she was and how big of a heart she had but I do wish she'd given in to Kane a lot sooner than before her wee accident that lead to them getting together. She was smart and witty and was the perfect match for Kane who could be very dominant. I enjoyed seeing their relationship progress and how they clashed at times.Kane was a really good hero of the story, his sweetness helped balance out the darker side to his personality and I thought he had a great sense of humour plus he was a cowboy. Need I say more? The heat between these too was great and liked that the the author didn't over do the sex scenes and made them spicy but not completely raunchy. The way these two found each other at the end of the book was just right and I really liked how their romance wrapped up.

This is a series and author that I will absolutely be picking up again and can't wait to do so, I'd recommend this one to fans of romance with the heat factor off the charts with a penchant for cowboys and lots of laughs and my only regret is that I didn't give this author a try before now.

Spoiler Ahead This was book 9 in the "Rough Riders" series and I love the McKay's. When attorney Ginger Paulson falls down a flight of stairs she has no one to take care of her son or her father. That is until Kane "Buck" McKay volunteers. Kane had always been attracted to Ginger, but she was strictly off limits for him when he became Hayden's mentor in the Little Buddies program. I love reading this series and I was looking forward to reading about the hot sexy Kane. I loved both of these character's Ginger has always put everyone else first she has a lot of things going on so she lets Kane take over and she sees a different side of Kane when he is with her son and her plan to steer clear of him goes away. The sex scenes in this book were hot and Kane demands submission Ginger is not sure if she trust Kane. This was a really good book and I loved reading it. This book didn't have some really deep dark secret like some of the other books in this series and I loved how Kane has changed from the person he was in the other books. This book was well written like the other books in this series with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Continuing of the McKay families’ saga, L. James treats her readers to another over-the-top erotic tale. Kane finds himself attracted to his Little Buddy, Hayden’s mom, Ginger Paulson, but since this is against the rules of the Big Buddy, Little Buddy program Kane tries to ignore it. Ginger is a smart, sexy attorney that turns Kane inside out. Kane thinks she’s totally out of his reach, but that doesn’t stop him from volunteering to take care of her when she falls down a flight of stairs. Kane lights a sexual fire in Ginger, one she wasn’t aware was there, one she doesn’t think she wants to live without. Even with all the wild sex between Kane and Ginger it takes an intervention from his twin, Kade, and his McKay cousins for Kane to man up to the fact that he wants a life with Ginger and Hayden. Lots of raunchy sex with the perfect smattering of humor and ranch life for which the McKays’ are known!

Kane McKay was a man that almost single-handedly created the legendary bad boy image that the McKay men are known for. Yet throughout the Rough Riders series we've seen Kane transform himself into the man he decides he wants to be, which is more than a man known for his sexual exploits; a man who is ready for love and the responsibilities of having a family of his own....even if no one else believes that this leopard can change his spots.

Ginger Paulson is a strong and independent woman who is an attorney, a single mother, and caretaker for her disabled father. She's got a lot on her plate and through determination, and lots of hard work she manages to successfully juggle it all without much help from anyone else. That is until she is forced to accept help after an accident has left her barely able to care for herself let alone her young son and father. Like many people who are used to having to do it all, she has a hard time accepting help from anyone else. Even if it is the man she fantasizes about.

Kane and Ginger fought their attraction to each other, despite a knock your socks off kiss they shared months ago. But Kane jumps at the chance to get closer to Ginger and try to convince her that a relationship between the two of them could be more than a good thing when she is injured and needs help.

For me Raising Kane was different than many of the other Rough Riders stories. I felt that it was a more mature love story than many of the others. Kane and Ginger are both in their mid thirties. They've lived life. Ginger has a son. They've been there and done that. Unlike several of the other books in this series....where there are obstacles to overcome (drug addiction, disabilities, an unplanned pregnancy...) there are no big dark secrets, no overblown misunderstandings, no big emotional drama or growth. In this story the hero and the heroine are both at a point in their lives where they know who they are and what they want, which is why this story felt more subdued and less intense than many of the other McKay stories. When I say that I don't mean it in a way that means the story was boring or bad or less than the others, it just seemed.....natural. Like how you would expect a real relationship to evolve, and I think that is where the beauty lies in Raising Kane. It seemed like a "real" love story.

Even though I loved Kane as a hero, I did feel that much of his character growth happened outside of his own story (little snippets in the previous Rough Riders)...and I don't really know how I feel about that. In some respects I felt disappointed by this because the character who ended up dominating the story was Ginger, not Kane (at least IMO). Ginger is the character who had to learn to rely on others and accept love, but what about Kane? And since its supposedly Kane's story we can't pass over his infamously alluded to past sexual exploits. Anyone who has the pleasure of reading Lorelei James's Rough Riders series know she writes smokin' hot love scenes. In fact I think she is one of the best erotic romance writers out there, not just because of the loves scenes but because they are about so much more than just sex. Her love scenes are more than just numerous sex scenes inserted at certain parts in the story where it might make sense. Each and every intimate encounter has purpose and meaning to the hero and heroine's love story...and Raising Kane is certainly no different. But shouldn't Kane's story be just a little bit more sexually intense/adventurous?

Because of his past and what we've been led to believe about him in previous RR stories I expected Kane to be more intense and demanding in the bedroom...and I guess he kinda sorta was? But in the end he didn't really seem that much different than the other McKay men. I know he's changed, but has he changed that much? Once or twice within the story there are a few sex toys that are referenced that Kane says he'll use on Ginger at some point, but to my recollection he didn't make good on those promises/threats. Not that I wanted or needed more sex scenes between the two, nor could they have been any hotter than they were, but maybe I expected him to be just a tad kinkier.....maybe. I wanted Kane to push Ginger (not just tempt her) to give up control of at least this one aspect of her life and through these moments in the story to really learn to trust and accept his love. To realize that she's not alone and no longer has to do it all, that she has a partner who is willing to shoulder some of the burdens that she carries if she will only let him. That's what he offers her, but I felt that she still had a hard time believing that/him, even at the end of the story. When I read in the blurb that Kane demands Ginger's "full sexual submission" I expected him to be a more sexually demanding lover than what we've seen in some of the previous RR stories, and I don't think he was. However, I also I didn't expect him to be as passionate and compassionate a hero as he was in Raising Kane.

There are several sweet and cherishable moments that I didn't expect from this hero and I loved that about this story. Kane's bond with Ginger's son is what any woman would wish for when trusting someone to help raise your child, mentor them, and provide a strong male role model. Add to that how he helps a Ginger's father, a disabled man keep his pride, and dignity, as well as realize his importance in their newly formed family and you have one perfect sigh worthy hero.

In the end I think Raising Kane is another great addition to the McKay family and the Rough Riders series, and is definitely worth your time and money. I just wish a little more of the story would have been about Kane instead of Ginger, that Kane maybe was a little more dominant, and that the small diversions involving Brandt McKay and Jessie (which I didn't really go into in the review but will no doubt will be a future RR story) would have been even more brief and less distracting within Kane and Ginger's story.

Ratings:

Overall: 4.25
Sensuality level: 4.0 (this one is hot...after all it is a Lorelei James novel. Lots of sex, but nothing shocking)

p.s. while I do think Raising Kane could be read as a stand alone (more so than any of the other RR series), a reader who hasn't read the previous stories won't have the full benefit of experiencing the personal growth and discovery that Kane went through prior to his story in Raising Kane, at least to appreciate who he has become and his hero worthiness.

Ginger Paulson is an attorney, single mom, and caretaker to her father. Ginger has hard time asking for help usually leaves it until it's too late. Ginger has watched Kane McKay be Big Buddy to her son Hayden and wonders what it would be like to be kissed by Kane again. Kane McKay loves being a Big Buddy to Hayden Paulson. Kane would love to get better acquainted with Hayden's mom but it's the against the rules. When Ginger has an accident injuring herself that she can't do things for herself Kane steps up to help. Kane has put his partying ways aside becoming a lonely bachelor with nothing but ranching and Big Buddy/Little Buddy events to keep him occupied. Sparks fly between Ginger and Kane but he doesn't want it to affect Hayden in any way. Will either Ginger or Kane admit there is more to their budding relationship? Will Ginger admit that she could possibly love Kane? What will Kane do to prove himself to Ginger? Your answers await you in Raising Kane.

I've been wondering about Kane McKay since Tied Up, Tied Down. Kane being Kade McKay's twin brother isn't the same man from previous books. I've always like Ginger since her introduction. The pairing of Ginger and Kane is absolutely perfect. Kane is stand up guy that sorely needs a break from his lonely existence. Between the two of them, they're fire and ice chemistry. Ms. James is on my must buy and read list.

Kane McKay was trying to change his reputation of picking up women and drinking because he wanted to settle down and have a family. He worked from sun up to sun down on his family's ranch by doing every chore and became a mentor in the Little Buddy program. He is interested in his Little Buddy's mom but the program has a rule that he cannot have a relationship with her. When she is out of commission when she falls down the stairs, Kane agrees to help take care of her, her elderly father and her son while she heals. They are attracted to each other so, being careful of Ginger's injuries, they have sex. However, Kane lets her know that he is the boss in the bedroom and wants her full sexual submission.

This book has a lot of detailed sex scenes which I am not interesting in reading about. Also it had mild BDSM which I REALLY don't like so after reading about a third of it, I put it away. But I kept thinking about it for a few days and picked it up again. I skimmed over the sex scenes and found I liked the story line and the characters - when they weren't in bed.

If you like erotica and BDSM, you will like this one.

Ninth in the Rough Riders erotic western romance series revolving around the McKay family in Sundance, Wyoming. The couple focus is on Ginger Paulson and Kane McKay.

James states that while this is book 9, the action actually takes place between the epilogue of Shoulda Been A Cowboy (Rough Riders, #7), and All Jacked Up (Rough Riders, #9) .

IMO, you can still read them in publishing order as Keely only briefly shows up in this one.

My Take
This was so sweet! And who knew, that proper lawyer was so hot to go! I do love how out there Kane gets, telling Ginger just how he's been fantasizing about her from the start. Nor is she reluctant to participate. It's nice. Two people who want each other and don't hesitate, much, to let each other know.

Kane is such a sweetie and I think this is what really grabs Ginger's heart. We do discover why Kane isn't as enthusiastic about his attempted name change...ROFLMAO! Who'd'a thunk...

We never did find out why Hayden got so shy early on. I did like Ginger telling Kane's mama what was what! She was very nice about it, but quite direct.

Ooh, sidestory with Jessie and Brandt. Wake-up call.

The Story
It's Hayden and the Little Buddies program that brings Kane McKay into Ginger's orbit. Only, the program has this rule about "fraternization" and Kane is careful to keep his distance. Besides, with her education, Ginger Paulson wouldn't look at him twice.

It's that slippery sidewalk that changes everything and Ginger needs help. Help that turns so steamy in spite of the miscommunication between the three of them.

The Characters
Kane "Buck" McKay is just about the last hold-out of the two main McKay families we've been following. All the other bad boys have gotten married and are havin' kids. It's a state Kane would like to emulate, but at least he has Shep. For now. Kimi McKay is Kane's petite mama. Kade, Kane's identical twin, and Skylar have Eliza and the twins as well as the McKay Menagerie.

Ginger Paulson moved to Wyoming to take over her dad's law practice and she has her son, Hayden, with her. Hayden's particular friends are Kyler (Cord) and Anton McKay (Cam). Dash Paulson is her father and he's stuck in a wheelchair due to arthritis. He's surprisingly okay. Ava Dumond, a.k.a., Ava Cooper, the hot starlet, was Ginger's first real client after she was fired from the law firm.

Doctor Joely Monroe is Ginger's doctor. Lock Martin is Kane's other Little Buddy and his mother, Daphne, keeps trying to hook up with Kane.

The McKay Cousins include:
Colt and India are happy with Hudson and another on the way; Colt still needs to fight off some of the dark side, though. Chase McKay is a rather notorious bullrider, taking that McKay rep to a whole new level. Oh, yeah, and he's doing well on the rodeo circuit too. Libby and Quinn McKay have a son, Adam. Keely is irked about not getting invited to the McKay cousins' poker party. And about Dash ditching his physical therapy. Cord is still happy with AJ, Colby, and Cam and Domini have Leisl and the twins (this is probably the primary reason why James feels this is between 7 and 8 as, in book 8, Domini is talking about adopting more kids).

James has been slowly introducing us to yet another branch of McKays: Tell, Dalton, and Brandt. Yup, the Brandt who is so hot for his brother's widow, Jessie, the one their dad, Casper McKay, threw off the ranch when his son Lucas died in the car accident. Casper is pretty much feudin' with everybody including his sons and his brothers: Carson (all the other C bad boys), Charles (Quinn, Bennett, and Chase are his boys), and Calvin (Kane and Kade).

The Cover
It's the Rough Riders signature cover with its sepia-toned black and white and the "carved" leather border at the bottom with its floral spray. I like that the model actually makes me think of Ginger with her red hair and statuesque figure. She's all woman with his flannel shirt falling off her shoulders and Kane embracing her, nibbling her jaw. I like that detail of her beautiful French manicure!

Oh yeah, these two are definitely Raising Kane...in the old style sense of the phrase!

Ginger Paulson isn't used to asking for help. From anyone. But the choice is taken from her hands when she slips on a patch of ice outside work and lands in the hospital. Kane McKay steps in to take care of her, her wheelchair bound father and her young son. Kane's been a Little Buddies mentor to her son, so that means no fraternizing with her mother. He tells himself he's only offering platonic services to the feisty redhead, never mind the kiss they shared months ago.

But when she tells him she's interested in much more than his nursing duties, he demands her complete intimate submission. Then the stakes are raised infinitely higher when mutual sexual pleasure turns into a desire for a whole lot more.

Although Raising Kane is book nine in Lorelei James' Rough Riders series, it can be read easily as a standalone, which is what happened with me. Not usually into cowboy stories, I'd heard the series had BDSM elements and opted to give its latest story a try. I'm sure glad I did.

Ginger is a smart, funny, somewhat intimidating attorney that refuses to show her vulnerability to anyone. She is the epitome of self-sufficient women everywhere. That's what makes Kane so attractive to her. He not only isn't intimidated by her, he's willing to assert his own dominance to prove it. He does have his own insecurities, but by and large he's willing to overcome them to show Ginger his worth. Ginger, although incredibly intelligent, isn't put off by his lack of post-grad education, but instead is attracted by his fierce loyalty, his kind heart and his delicious, Alpha male sexuality.

Other characters from previous books make their appearances making me at once wish I'd discovered this series sooner, and have me rushing to purchase previous installments. I've eight other stories to read to catch up but if Raising Kane is any indication, this is a series worth delving into for great plot, in depth characters and some smokin' hot lovin'.

Former hell raiser Kane "Buck" McKay has been changing his life for a few years. He is no longer the hell raiser, but a hard working rancher, who is even in the "Little Buddy" program, though no one seems to be able to forget his hell-raising past. Further proof of his changed ways is that, while he thinks his "Little Buddy's" mom is one of the hottest women he has seen, he is not going to pursue her, no matter what. Even if he thinks she is one of the most caring and sexy women he has ever seen.

Single mother Ginger Paulson is in a pickle. When this independent attorney takes a head over heels tumble down a flight of stairs, who is going to care for her son and her invalid father? She never expects to see the sexy rancher that is her son's "Little Buddy" mentor. She bristles when he not only appears but takes charge and demands she let him help. But, she is in need of help and he is rather charming and certainly hot to look at. So she reluctantly gives in.

Will all their time together allow for them to act on their sexual tension? More importantly will the hell raiser be able to convince the attorney to give them a shot?

Finally Buck's book is out. I and a lot of fans were wondering how Lorelei James would be able to pull together a woman that was not only worthy of Kane, aka Buck, but who would be able to look beyond his past. I think the way Ms. James put together Raising Kane is just what we all needed to happen. He didn't get an easy relationship, and has to work for what he really wants. I feel that Raising Kane is a fantastic story about the bad boy who has grown up into a man that many haven't appreciated enough. Bravo, Ms. James, on a well-written story.

Ginger Paulson has a reputation for being tough as nails in her professional and personal life. She doesn't like having to keep such a tight reign over everything, but if she doesn't, her carefully constructed house of cards could topple. Ginger handles the legal matters for the small town she has grown to love while caring for her young son as well as her incapacitated father. She always puts everyone's welfare ahead of her own until a severe accident forces her to focus on her recovery. When she panics about having no one to care for her family, she is beyond surprised when Kane "Buck" McKay volunteers.

Kane had always been attracted to Ginger, but she was strictly off limits for him when he became Hayden's mentor in the Little Buddies program. That didn't stop how much he wanted her though, and he knew living under the same roof would be torture.

I have read and loved the entire Rough Riders collection! Kane and Ginger have made appearances in many of the other books, so I wasn't surprised that Kane's book was up next, and it was well worth the wait. Both Kane and Ginger are strong multi-layered characters that burn up the pages with passion. Ginger has so much to juggle in her life, and it takes a very strong man like Kane to get her to let go. In turn she gets to see a different side to Kane. He is so gentle and kind with her son that it melts her resolve to steer clear of him. This is another winner, but as close as the loud boisterous McKay/West families are, I am surprised they really didn't know the man Kane had become. One of the things that I love love with this series is the chance to catch up on all the other characters that we have known and loved. A recommended read, but not as a stand alone.

Love 'em and leave 'em Kane finally meets his unlikely match in Ginger, an attorney with an 8 year old son who happens to be Kane's Little Buddy in the Buddy Program. A dose of reality strikes Kane and Ginger in some steamy alone times and they find they both need to make some changes in their attitudes in order to find happiness. Loved this book and these amazing characters.

Lots to love here: terrific story, lots of feels, and plenty of dirty, sexy cowboy lovin. Ginger is smart, independent, and very busy. She's running the family law practice, raising a son, and taking care of her arthritic father. Kane's got a reputation as a good-time guy, but it's been a while since he's had a good time.

Kane "Buck" McKay has been trying for years to drop his bad boy reputation. He's cut down on the boozing, stopped skirt-chasing and even signed up to be a mentor to a Little Buddy named Hayden. Unfortunately for him, Hayden's mom, Ginger Paulson, attracts him like flame to a moth, and that's against the program's rules. When she's laid up after a ice-fueled slip down a set of stairs, Kane agrees to help take care of her, her elderly father and Hayden while she heals up.

And, well, that's it. That's what happens. From the get-go they admit their mutual attraction. They have lots of sex starting early in the book and continuing throughout. Neither is pushing the other away or avoiding commitment. They don't use condoms so it must be True Love.

In short - the book completely lacked conflict. There's nothing these two overcome that has them grow as characters. I mean, I guess Ginger learns to rely on someone other than herself, but that is not much of a character arc to speak of. The writing's technically sound, the dialog natural, but the book lacks purpose. The protagonists begin and end the book as the same people, only married and knocked up.

I liked it, I read it in one sitting, but the lack of urgency or growth really made the sex boring. I don't want to just be a voyeur. I need a good reason to watch people bone.

LOVED this story of rancher Kane McKay and attorney Ginger Paulson. They secretly had a thing for each other but kept it professional... until Ginger needed help after a fall down the stairs. Good guy Kane to the rescue! Hard-headed lawyer Ginger is no match for Kane's charms. I found myself cheering, "give in! give in!" while reading. You just want to root for them. Such a sweet, passionate story that tugged at my heartstrings!

I have been reading the Rough Riders series out of order and it has been wonderful - lots of adult heat !!! This is story of Ginger and Kane. Kane had a wild side but is now a volunteering to be big brother & responsible rancher. Ginger get hurt very earlier in the book and Kane jumps at the chance to take care of Ginger. Ginger and Kane start to heat up the pages -- love love this Rough Riders book !! Off to download some more books !!

If you enjoy this genre I would also suggest;Cowboy Casanova: Rough Riders, Book 12,Caine's Reckoning (Hell's Eight),Chasin' Eight: Rough Riders, Book 11.

Once again, another great book by James . Sparks fly when reformed bad boy Kane volunteers to help out curvy single mom , Ginger. An unlikely fling leads to a lot of hot raunchy lovin' and unexpected love. The cowboy is afraid he is not smart enough and single mom is afraid she's not enough woman, but they're both perfect for each other. I love this writer's dialogue; it's so cheesy and perfect for her characters.

When Kane decides to help his "little buddies" mother recover after she falls down the steps he decides to finally make his move.

Not every book is always knock your socks off good but each and every one in this series is a pleasure to read. This is one of those series that you just never want to end. I would be perfectly happy rolling over the story to the next generation of McKays when the time comes.

You would think that you would get tired reading about these cowboys and their women, but believe me you don't. This is another wonderful book by Ms. James. I absolutly love the way she bring in the couples and their families from the previous books, you also get to see how much the charactors grow. When you first meet Kane you think that there is no way this man can redeem himself but he does in spades. I just started reading the rough riders books in April and now I'm current, can't wait till the next book comes out.

The entire series is great. Kane's story will not diappoint and the story line is very real and the way the charcters deal with the situation and each other develops nicely. Start at the begining of this series really, don't cheat yourself out of the whole Mckay family, the brothers, the wifes, the cousins and ranch life.

I loved that there was no tragic split!! That their love evolved and didn't appear over night.
I was so sad when Shep died. :( how sad. When Kade offered to bury him for Kane I couldn't help but cry.
I loved the bonding with Hayden and Kane.

Who would of guessed the heat these two could make. Reformed bad boy and educated lawyer with a child and ill father.

Kane McKay was the ultimate bad boy. But under his bad boy persona, he is smart, sexy and has a heart of gold. Kane McKay is the man all women want. You can't help but fall in love with him. It is humbling to see his journey from a single, wild boy to a strong, supportive family man. It was an absolute joy to read his story.

I have been reading all the rough rider books, and this one is equally great as the others. Read them all you wont be disappointed. But I would read them in order as the characters revisit in each book. This book is about one of the twins whose changed his ways and is romancing a local attorney who cant believe a guy this gorgeous is interested in her.
