A very informative book. The real life instances mentioned in the book compares well with what my Dad is suffering. The book gives great insights about the disease, the sufferings of the patients, how to cope with the disease and continue on.....

I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease 9 years ago and this book introduced me to the concept of deep brain stimulation (DBS). I have been researching the pros and cons of DBS and hope that I will be a good candidate for the DBS surgery.

This book clarified Parkinson's in such a human way as it relates to the now and how you can help yourself. Very good for a care giver to reduce the pressures of making right decisions. I feel more empowered and less disappointed as a caregiver. My husband is beginning to have a better understanding of his situation at last. We are involved with Emory University Hospital in Atlanta and our neurologist is very supportable, however my husband has severe anxiety and this book helped us understand how difficult this condition makes the disease.

Excellent information, I have read many books about Parkinson's in my six years struggle. This book gave me more insight on how and who and why of the treatments used today. It answered many questions I had. I recommend this book to a Parkinson's patient, care partner, as well as anyone dealing with Parkinson's. Thank you Dr. Okun.

Clear, actionable, helpful. Dr. Okun's book is a fantastic way to look at Parkinson's disease and the world. He adroitly dispenses knowledge, reassurance, and hope from a vast store of scientific and historical perspectives. This is a must read for Parkinson's patients, caregivers, and family.

I have only recently been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. While I spent 20 years as a health care worker, I just didn't know much about Parkinson's Disease. This is my first book on the subject. . Doctor Okun writes with such clarity that I expect most people will have no trouble understanding all of it. While I did not know some of the technical terms, Dr. Okun explains each so that all readers should get the jest of each. .

The doctor who wrote this book is a world authority on Parkinson's Disease. I love his hopeful approach, which is one of involved doctors teaching and mentoring patients. This is a quick read. My only complaint is that I do wish that there was more practical information and tips. It’s a bit lacking in that area.

There is nothing wrong with this book, and in the case of Parkinson's if you get one or two ideas from such a publication it will help. I found it unremarkable and redundant, butthat could be because I now have read most of what is out there.

I would not buy it again. You may find a gem in it, can't say.
