The plot moved along well and the characters were quite well-developed for being such a short story. I would have liked a more climatic ending, but wasn't too disappointed. I really enjoyed that this was a relatively clean novel.

Gillian's story is beautifully written, and the characters are well-defined. For a short story, there is a great deal of loving detail and delineation of all the major characters. Quite a lovely read, and I'm looking up her other stories ritght now!

I enjoyed the way in which the author wrote, drawing the reader into the time period, using language of th time and traditions shared. I enjoy b looks inspired by the regency period. Geogette Heyer is a favorite author of mine.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this story.

Christmases, a funny heroine and a sweet (deep down) hero -- who could ask for more? Oh, wait, I could have! I was really torn between wanting to get to the next kiss and wanting more of this story! I absolutely loved the characters, the premise, everything about it.
When I finished reading this story, I heaved a huge sigh and my daughter (who's well aware of what a hopeFUL romantic her mom is) looked at me and said, "Love story work out okay, Mom?" My reply was another sigh and an "Oh, yeah!"
I'll be looking for more of Ms. Darcy's work!

I ordered this novella from the store and was astounded after reading the first page because I have read this story before. I own a Christmas anthology (1991) that includes this same story (titled The Kissing Bough) written by Martha Powers. So now I am curious about the authorship. Is there a pseudonym here or what?

Unlike many romance novels, this one didn't need sex to sell it. It wasn't an adventure or a romp.It was just a sweet and engaging tale of childhood sweethearts. This one was free, but I am happy to pay for the next one. I just hope it is a little longer because I didn't want to put this one down!

I've enjoyed many Christian books from this era, this is the first to use the actual figures of speech that would have been used. I was challenged and entertained by The Five Kisses. A good story line and a quick read.

This charming story is well written. It follows our young heroine from childhood through maturing into adulthood. I love a story where I would like to be friends with the characters in a book. I thoroughly enjoyed this story.

WARNING - Spoilers!
Maybe I should have checked before I bought it, but this is really a short story, not the novel I thought it was. Great premise and good start, but the ending felt like a 'cop-out.' It was too hastily wrapped up and kind of felt like it came out of left field. The love interest just shows up after years of building a womanizing reputation to proclaim his love and marriage for his childhood sweetheart? I would have liked to see the connection between the main character and her love fleshed out much more. Now that would be a story I'd want to read!
