Lauren Layne is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors, right up there with Kristan Higgins, Rachel Gibson and Candis Terry. Her writing is fun, sassy and full of emotion, but has me laughing and smiling throughout each one of her romances I read.
ONLY WITH YOU was no different! I have to say, I stinkin' LOVED Sophie. Probably one of my favorite heroines of all time, and I am usually not a big 'heroine' fan, as I love my heroes, but Sophie was very much an Annabelle Granger (S.E.P. Catch Me If You Can) for me...Just awesome! The family member who is "Off the Beaten Path"of what the family expects, kind of a goofball, but has a HUGE heart and liked by ALL, except for the hero, or so we think!
and Gray...oh Gray, who wears Gray...haha!! For as much as I loved Sophie, I felt for Gray. And every time we find him alone on a weekend, my heart just went out to him. I swear by the last few pages I was simply holding my breath wondering how he was going to come back from "That"...but OMG....was that one of my FAVORITE ending in a romance that I have read. I cried...I was so happy I cried!! Thanks A LOT Lauren!!
Simply....Wonderful!!

**** I Received this ARC for my honest review ****
This is the 1st book in the series and also the first book that I have read from Lauren Layne. Let me start by saying, I love this book and hope the series is just the same. I thought it was light, fun and had a great flow, I couldn't wait to finish it. I love how the characters were like vinegar and water but still had that attraction. It's true, opposites do attract. The sarcasm throughout this book had me bending over laughing.
Sophie Dalton's dad is a retired DR. , her sister is an Orthodontist. Sophie has no direction and lives her life to the fullest by being the favorite party girl. Up till she gets a wake up call in an elevator in Las Vegas, she doesn't feel like partying anymore.
Grayson Wyatt bumps into a less than pleasant women in Las Vegas. Why is it that weeks later, even after he moves to Seattle to open a new office he can't get that girl out of his mind.
I can't wait for book 2 to come out. I think its coming out in October.

Sophie Dalton’s content to have fun and coast along with life, until she meets Gray Wyatt in a Las Vegas elevator and he mistakes Sophie for a prostitute. Sophie starts to think she needs to change things. She goes home with every intention of doing that - and then Gray walks into her parents’ house - with her sister...as her new boyfriend. One thing leads to another and Gray hires Sophie as his assistant. This seems like the worst idea ever - or the best mistake they ever made.
The Bottom Line
Loved it - loved Sophie and Gray’s first meeting, their snarky exchanges, their chemistry, all of it. Gray is a very repressed type of hero who pairs perfectly with the charming Sophie. There’s something about a stuffed shirt when they finally let go that can be so sexy and Gray definitely fits that bill. He struggles with his words but he stepped up at the end. I’d happily recommend it - Lauren Layne is moving up the list of my favorite authors and I can’t wait to see Brynn and Will’s story play out.

I loved Sophia… She was always being compared to her sister, always feeling like she wasn’t good enough for her family and then she is mistaken for a prostitute while in Las Vegas for a bachelorette party. She thinks that she will never see the man from the elevator again BUT her sister shows up one Sunday for dinner with a date and it’s HIM…
Gray has been burned in the past and his EX strangely looks a lot like Sophie. Gray don’t want to have anything to do with Sophie and just wants to be left alone BUT when his hand is forced at Sunday dinner she ends up being his new assistant. He doesn’t want to want Sophie but he does and he ends up making a mess out of everything and almost losing her in the process.
The only problem that I had with this book was that Sophie and Gray spent most of the book hating each other and we didn’t really get to see them together as a couple a lot. When we did, I thought they made a good couple. I just wish that the book had been a little longer and that we would have got to see more of them as a couple.

Sophie is such a cute bubbly character, I just fell in love with her, she is trying to figure out what to do and has no clue what type of career she wants so when she got back from Las Vegas where she met Gray she quits her dead waitressing job. Now Gray is a standoffish type of guy who is quiet and closed off to others, total opposite of Sophie, but the heat is there between them and they just keep butting heads. Sophie meets Gray again back home when her sister Brynn brings him to family dinner with her. Then Gray ends up giving Sophie a job as his assistant. Boy do the fireworks fly between them. We see them be at each other necks and fighting and trying to not let the sexual attraction explode. This book had me laughing and feeling sad so many times. Great read and cannot wait to read Brynn's story.

I really enjoyed this!! Only with You is a funny, sweet, and sexy story. Sophie and Gray make quite the first impression on each other and that first meeting leaves a lasting impression! Neither are prepared for their next awkward meeting. Sophie is highly educated, intelligent, and great with people but she's struggling to find a job that she's passionate about. Gray is an introverted CEO, gourmet chef, and he's stinging from a previous betrayal. Sophie and Gray are reluctant to pursue their obvious and palpable attraction. But their differences make them complimentary as a couple and provide a balance. They are exactly what the other needs but never thought they wanted. I loved the anticipation! I could very easily identify with Gray as a fellow introvert.
There were some interesting secondary characters. I loved Jack, Jenna, and Will!! I'm really looking forward to Will's book.

I don't typically read romance novels, but occasionally I like to pick one up because they are normally quick, easy reads. When it comes to contemporary romance novels, I tend to go for ones that are more realistic. However, I will admit I was intrigued by the synopsis when opening the promotional email.
I can't even imagine how awkward it would be to have an encounter with a stranger in a Vegas hotel elevator, barely dressed, and then have to come face to face with him at a family dinner. And, find out his is dating your sister. But wait, there's more! To top it off, how would you feel if said sister's beau offered you a job as his assistant? Not awkward at all...
The tension throughout the book was great. You could tell Sophie and Gray had a mutually strong attraction to one another from the moment they met. However, my irritation and frustration came from A) how harshly Gray judged Sophie based on her looks and B) how often Sophie kept putting herself down. I felt like the author spent way too much time on their first embarrassing encounter. Yes, you shared an intimate moment with someone you thought would be a stranger forever, but now you work together, so let's move on and be professionals. I guess I was put off by this as Sophie was set up to be a spunky, strong and carefree character, but then why have her keep dwelling on the negatives?
With all that said, I sped through ONLY WITH YOU in a matter of days. If you are looking for a unique meet-cute in a contemporary romance, then this is the novel for you.

This book was amazing for sure the chemistry between the characters was amazing. From the very beginning the book draws you in and hooks you. There are a lot of hot and steamy parts and you won't be disappointed. The book deals with self worth a lot and the way the author does the storyline is completely well written. I love Sophie's bubbly personality, it keeps you laughing and you just want to get to know her and be friends with her. I love how even though Gray is stand offish he's still human. I love the start of Will and Brynn's story I can not wait to read it. Will is seriously the boy next store and you so want to know that he is going to come out ahead!!! If you are looking for a hot steamy love story that has twist and keeps you reading this is your book a quick read but a fun read.

REVIEWED BY KINDLE GAL & EMILY
KINDLE GAL: Hey, Em. You and I have read Lauren Layne's Sex, Love & Stiletto series, and while I know we both thought it was good (some books more than others), I feel like this new series is going to be more my style. Whereas I struggled a bit with the heroines in all of the Stiletto stories, I immediately found the heroine in Only with You (The Best Mistake), Sophie Dalton, extremely likable. She's funny, sassy, loyal, and ... well, a bit of a mess. But that actually made me love her even more! Sophie felt real to me. She's someone who has been pigeonholed most of her life as being a bit flighty and never one to take too seriously, unlike her older sister, Brynn. And even though there is a lot more to Sophie than meets the eye, she tends to play the part because it's easier than trying to prove everyone wrong. That is, until she meets Grayson Wyatt. Yes, I realize you're probably doing a double take right now, since I'm notoriously hard on heroines. But you are too, so I'm curious to know what you thought of Sophie.
EMILY: What? YOU actually liked a heroine?? If I wasn't totally in girl-love with Sophie myself, I'm sure my jaw would be on the floor! It really is quite creepy how aligned we are sometimes.
Sophie is hilarious and awesome and I completely related to her (though I was also able to relate to serious sister Brynn too - must be the brilliance of Lauren Layne!). Sophie IS a hot mess, but she knows it and wants to change. She just isn't entirely sure how to do it. Sophie reaches a personal low point at the beginning of Only with You (The Best Mistake), which has a lot to do with meeting the hero - über-sexy, yet stilted and robotic Gray Wyatt. {Insert sigh} Why is it I totally want to nurse these brooding bad boys back to health and happiness? Gray is so NOT your typical hero. While he is the requisite tall, dark, and handsome, he is also cold and super cranky - the complete polar opposite from the fun-loving, warm Sophie. Which, of course, made their interactions all the more intense and, well, just plain hot. Am I right, or am I right?
KG: You are SO right! Gray was a total Mr. Darcy in my mind. He was annoyed and yet completely taken by Sophie. Which just annoyed him even more, and the vicious cycle of it all was awesome! I'll be honest, when written well, I love this type of unconventional hero. Yes, there were several times I wanted to grab his stilted self and shake some sense into him, but Gray and his wounded heart SLAYED me. My heart squeezed a gazillion times reading this story, all because of Gray.
EM: {interrupting} YES!!!! I too had the "stomach drop, heart speed up" feeling whenever he unfroze enough to become human. Sorry ... please, carry on. :)
KG: I completely agree that the chemistry between Sophie and Gray was super hot! And as I'm saying that, we should probably point out that the heat level in this story is actually quite low. But for me, this is enemies-to-lovers at its best.
I also loved that because Gray is so difficult to "crack," ANY connection to him is huge. I mean, something as simple as him holding hands with Sophie was ridiculously sexy! (Just trust me.) And to solidify my love for Sophie, she eventually understood Gray like no one else.
I will say, as much as I loved the slow burn between them, it did make the ending feel a bit rushed. Or, maybe that was just because I could've read about these two forever. Which reminds me, as much as I enjoyed the scenes with Sophie's sister, Brynn, and her BFF, Will, it annoyed me to no end when the story shifted away from Sophie and Gray. And that is SO UNLIKE ME, because normally, I am all about secondary characters and stories!
Em: OK, so HERE is where we kind of disagree. (It really does happen sometimes. Crazy, huh?) As much as I loved the chemistry between Gray and Sophie (yes, admittedly rather PG-rated, but still intense and smoking all the same), I was happy to digress into tangential story lines. When I got a smidge tired of Gray's "issues" (only a smidge, Gray, baby ... I still love ya!), the change up to Will and Brynn was kind of refreshing. I was actually hoping to see more of them, especially Will. I loved the friendship between Will and Sophie. They are the way back types of besties, and their friendship is funny and touching. I loved their interactions and how Will fit in with her family.
Oh, and it looks like my wishes might come true. Without giving too much away about Book 2, it looks like I get to see Will again! YES!! I cannot wait for it!
KG: See, that's the thing ... I loved Will's character too! But I was just too in love with Sophie and Gray. THE BANTER! I honestly couldn't get enough of it.
I feel like all I've done is gush, which is starting to become my norm with Lauren Layne. I think anyone who enjoys the enemies-to-lovers trope, snarky dialogue, and a white-collar, unconventional hero will fall in love with Only with You (The Best Mistake). This one is hands-down my favorite book by Layne, and I can't wait to see what she's got in store next.
KG's RATING: A- (4½ stars)
EM: Yes, I too totally loved Only with You (The Best Mistake)! I must say, I completely loved Sophie - she made the book for me. Her snark, sass, and inner dialogue made her my favorite heroine of 2014. Yes, that is right, I went there. I cannot wait to see what is next from Layne too!

adorable fluffiness. I really really enjoyed this book. It was a rather quick read and I found my self finishing it in one sitting without realizing how long I was sitting.
This story is unique is the way it's written. It's all on third person, which was something to get used too since I've been reading a lot of first person books. Along with the third person writing, the point of view was also different. I was expecting to stay biased toward Sophie, one of the main characters, through the book but was quite surprised when we'd read different perspectives. And honestly., it was quite fun. You'd switch from Sophie's thoughts into another and BAM it'd all make sense.
If you're looking for something fun and quirky, pick this one up.

"Only With You" by Lauren Layne. What a fun book! I was smiling throughout. Sophie is so full of life and, even though she's down on herself at times, she tries to always see the bright side. People tend to love her. Gray, a serious, no-nonsense businessman, is driven quickly insane by Sophie! This type of romance is my cup of tea! I love when the girl drives the guy crazy and he does all he can to fight his feelings. My heart broke for Sophie at times but she's a fighter and I loved her all the more. For a light read that will bring a smile or a chuckle, don't miss this one! I look forward to reading Brynn and Will's story next! Thank you, Ms. Layne for an truly enjoyable read. This is the first book in The Best Mistake series by Lauren Layne. Sophia loves to party but on her way to a bachelorette party a guy mistakes her for a hooker while in the elevator. She determines that it might be time to stop partying and reevaluate her priorities. While working at her new job, she meets her new boss Grayson Wyatt, who is also the guy who thought she was a hooker. Once Grayson sees Lauren again he is determined to make her his. This book kept me reading all night because I didn’t want to put it down. This book is funny, sweet and a great romance. I am looking forward to reading the next books in this series.

Lauren Layne has become a new favorite author, and is now on my auto 1-click buy list. I love that this wasn't a romance where the hot wealthy CEO was also the dominate Alpha. Sometimes you just want a woman to lead the way. I like romances that are more fun than serious, and Layne kept me smiling through the entire book with the witty, snarky comments from Sophia. I really liked how Gray grew more sure of himself as the book went on and he came out of his broken closed shell as he realized that he loved Sophia. And of course the bit of steaminess kept me up late reading just one more chapter... hoping to get to the really good parts! I enjoy a little bit of a struggle to make the relationship work. It's more true to life. Not like some many other books in the genre that the women just fall into the billionaires lap. Layne has an easy flowing writing style, and Only with You is a fun quick read. I'm already looking forward to the second book in the series Made for You. This book was provided to me free for my honest, unbiased review.

A romance between two adults acting like middle schoolers. Hysterically funny, awkward, sexy and smart. I haven't enjoyed such sarcasm in ages, and from the woman no less. Sophie is basically the class clown, breaking down other people's awkward situations or always laughing at herself. Totally opposite her is Grayson Wyatt, ice man business tycoon. Obviously he has reasons for his emotional detachment and social dysfunction, it's Sophie's mission to irritate him and figure him out. Truly enjoyed this story, plenty of secondary characters for a lovely series. I received a copy from Netgalley for review.

Lauren Layne books always have such compelling characters. I kept telling myself I'd only stay up for a few minutes reading, but each session ended up being over an hour. Gray and Sophie were likable and vulnerable. Gray was socially inept while Sophie seemed to have nothing but social niceties - for a while, Gray didn't think she had anything deeper than that.
I felt so many things for these two. Sophie's sense of inadequacy really drove the book forward. We see all the things she's really good at, but no one (including herself) truly valued her contribution. Her family criticized her all the time, she was always in go-nowhere sorts of jobs, even her boyfriend dumped her for being too flighty.
When Sophie met Gray, he was exactly the opposite of her: quiet and stoic, very serious, totally grounded. I loved how he saw value in her and always called her on the way she'd belittle herself. I felt like we missed out on a bunch of his story. He seemed to have a lot of pain and motivations that didn't get hashed out in the book.
Most of the plot revolves around the misunderstandings and anger between Sophie and Gray. There were a couple times I wanted to smack them and tell them to stop being so petty and childish. But I also saw the realism behind it. It wasn't an over-the-top drama-fest. It was just people being stuck in their own heads. It kept me invested in the story and I had my fingers crossed that they could work things out.
But...the ending. Gosh, it bothered me. It felt like they had this big explosion; such a huge, nasty argument with both of them saying terrible things. Gray said and did some things that made Sophie feel so small again. It was pretty blatant and it felt really outside his personality. With all of the ways he built her up, he tore her down in seconds and I didn't feel like we saw what the cause was.
It's possible that there was introspection we didn't see. From the time of the argument until the make up, we didn't see anything in Gray's POV, so I honestly had no idea what was going through his head.
It just reminded me of some of the older contemporaries I used to read where the hero would be all "I can't possibly say 'I love you', unless I already know she loves me first". Seriously. He didn't even say "I love you" during their make up scene. It was just sort-of assumed and he got off really easily because "he was damaged".
So yes, Sophie grew and found her footing. Yay for her. She was a true and vulnerable character and I liked that she didn't rely on Gray to solve her problems. She fixed them on her own, started on a path that would make her happy, and even stood up for herself. I was glad for her. But I had a sour taste when she just accepted Gray back without him TOTALLY groveling, because he really needed to after the things he said.
Would I recommend this book? Yes, I love the writing and I love the characterizations. But you might end up feeling dejected from the ending, like I was. It was one of those books that I felt I needed to make up my own ending to resolve my issues. I would have given it five stars if the ending was better. I still liked it enough to give it four stars.
I received a complementary ARC of this book from netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

Lauren writes the best storylines in her books. She can write some of the darnedest dysfunctional families and friends. Sophie is in Vegas for a bachelor party and is dressed Vegas style. She gets stuck in an elevator with a guy when it stops and the lights go out. She flips out and when it goes down again he thinks she is a hooker. She meets Gray again when he dates her sister and somehow after moving to her Seattle she takes a job from him when her sister talked Gray into it. The snipes and disagreements spark up the story. Gray is uptight and close lipped. The total opposite of Sophie. Please read this book to find out how it ends. Enjoy the read! I have this book for an honest review for NetGalley.

Once again Lauren Layne has another winner with Only with You, the first book in her new series entitled The Best Mistake. I love Ms. Layne's writing style because it is polished, evenly paced and fresh. Secondly, the chemistry between main characters Sophie Dalton and Grayson Wyatt is simmering and their developing feelings are tangible. Lastly, the combination of humor, longing and wittiness is wonderfully executed.
Sophie is a college educated woman in her late twenties still trying to decide what to do with her life. When she hits rock bottom, she decides to regroup and make some changes. She ends up working as an assistant for the CEO of Brayburn Luxuries. After being on the job for a few months, she falls in love and realizes that her true calling, working with people, is what she needs to build a future upon. Sophie is outgoing, playful and charming.
Grayson is an interesting character. He is nice enough but devoid of emotion most of the time. Grayson has a hard time expressing himself when it comes to his personal relationships and he comes across as standoffish with those he interacts with. He takes his job as CEO very seriously and his company thrives because of it. Grayson's relationship with Sophie is exactly what he needs to forget the past and trust once again.
I loved this book. As a result of the laugh-out-loud moments, sexual tension and unique characters, I could not put this book down. This is a slightly sweeter read than Ms. Layne's earlier works, yet just as exciting. I am truly looking forward to the next book in the series.

Grey and Sophie were adorable. I liked the slow build up from annoying one another to love. The was enough comedy and hot moments to keep he story going nicely. Sophie was a fun female lead and Grey despite his rather frigid exterior proved pretty sweet. I was actually more intrigued by Will and Brynn than this books leads, and as a result very excited for the next book. If you are in the mood for a light hearted romance with some laughs this will fit that bill nicely. I loved this book! Grayson is not your typical CEO. The guy is not charming. He's...well, he's Gray...as Sophie puts it: like his suit, his eyes and his personality. The snark and humor come through, as does the realization that these two are total opposites. Opposites to the point a reader begins to wonder (genuinely) if these two lost souls have a prayer of making it together. Sometimes, though (always in the safe and capable hands of a romance author) love conquers all. Gray's and Sophie's path is not an easy one, but it makes the moment in "The Castle" and the ending all the sweeter and worth the wait.

This was a cute, fun romance. People say opposites attract. Sophie is a fun loving, no stress cocktail waitress. type of girl. Grayson is a stiff, reserved corporate CEO. The meet accidently in a stalled elevator, and Gray mistakes Sophie for a prostitute. Imagine her embarrament when the next time they meet, he is dating her sister. Sophie enjoys pushing Gray's buttons. Their dialogue at times made you laugh. This book was full of sarcasm and smiles. I look forward to the next book with the best friend and sister.

Meet Cute is what kicks off this book from Lauren Layne. It's sweet, easy and rather predictable. I found the story good, the characters engaging and the pacing a bit uneven. I think the feeling of uneven pacing comes because there is a secondary love story that is a bit distracting at times. All in all, it was an enjoyable, if typical read. If you like a cute meeting and a lot of witty but sharp dialogue, try this one.

I loved Sophie...smart, sarcastic, quirky from page one! Her chemistry with Gray was funny, hot and sometimes frustrating because I felt like he stifled her sometimes. He frankly wasn't always very nice to Sophie, and that bothered me. I felt she deserved better. He came to grow on me, but not one of my favorite male characters, to be honest. I'm looking forward to Will's story, although I can't say I like his possible mate, either

Loved loved loved this book! Written with all the humor I have come to love in Lauren Layne's books, this is a very entertaining read. Grayson and Sophie are a very unlikely pair and the hilarious banter between the two just made me smile. I could just picture Gray shaking his head at Sophie every time. Polar opposites that simply would never work. But the attraction is strong and will not be denied. Put this one on the must read list. I highly recommend it.

I love Lauren Layne’s books. Her stories are full of humor. Her characters are human – not perfect, but likable. I want to know what happens next, so I usually finish them in one day.
“Only With You” is my favorite so far. I got the book, read it the same day – and a few weeks later I read it again and enjoyed it just as much. I rarely read books a second time, but this story was so delicious I couldn’t resist.

What a nice change of pace. So often romance novels can be so serious, yet this book had a lot of sarcasm and for me that equates to humor. I'm one that loves sarcasm, so this book literally had me laughing out loud. When a book can have you doing that, it's a winner. Be warned at the beginning you won't like Gray, he'll grow on you the same way that he grows on Sophie, slowly and without you expecting it. If some could make this into a movie without messing it up I am certain it would be a hit. Would I recommend this book, Yes, Yes, Yes... I thoroughly loved this book.

Only With You is an accidental, mistaken identity meeting kind of story. Though that makes it uncomfortable for the main characters, I found it very entertaining. Even during that hotel meeting along with the family dinner, I found both of them likable in different ways. In fact, Gray and Sophie are opposites in personality, which added spark to their story. Gray is the serious introverted and Sophie is the sassy extrovert. Together they find the perfect balance in their lives.
I loved how Gray helps Sophie to find the confidence that she needs. Nevertheless, near the end, he almost takes it away from her. That I didn't like so much. However, it is very realistic. We must stand on our own before we can stand with anyone else. This is a lesson that Sophie learned, along with Gray who needed to learn to stand with someone is better than trying to stand alone through life.
The other supporting characters are interesting and original. My favorites are Will and Brynn. Yeah, I think there is a story there, no wonder Will and Sophie stayed best friends only.
Only With You is the kind of read that you want on a lazy summer afternoon. It’s funny, humorous and a feel good kind of story. Sometimes a lighthearted, not out to save the world just find my place in the world story is just what I need. Only With You fits the bill perfectly.

A very romantic book without the sizzling graphics found in many romances. Sophie finds herself, as well as a vocation that suits her. Gray finally opens his heart to love & what he wants in life

Smart, fun, sexy, laugh out loud! Sophie is easy to fall in love with, although it takes her a long time to stand up to herself to her family. The story opens with a case of mistaken identity, Gray thinks Sophie is a prostitute. Its game on for Sophie. Gray tries to keep Sophie at a distance, but when she accepts a job to extract her revenge for aforemention mistaken identity he cannot help but be taken by her charm, wit and fresh attitude. Sophie is just what Gray needs! A fun road to HEA!

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas… Right? Well, not always. At least not when it comes to Sophie Dalton. Always the fun party girl, Sophie is humiliated when the good-looking but socially inept Gray Wyatt falsely assumes that she is a Las Vegas prostitute. Imagine Sophie’s surprise when she returns to Seattle only to discover that her worst nightmare—Gray Wyatt--has followed her home. Worst yet, he’s dating her sister!
Things go from bad to worse, when Gray is pressured into offering an out-of-work Sophie a job as his new assistant. Sophie is fun, outgoing, and talkative. Gray… is NOT! He prefers silence to idle chatter and is emotionally shut-off from people. Their personalities more than clash. They butt heads constantly, both in AND out of the workplace.
Sophie is beautiful and smart with a wicked sense of sarcasm. I love her interactions with Gray, which are often filled with witty banter and snarky comments. When it comes to Sophie, Gray is simply at a loss. His emotions switch between “unaffected” to absolute confusion. I delighted in their love/hate relationship, eagerly anticipating the moment when Sophie and Gray would finally cave, admitting (to both themselves and each other) their true feelings.
“Only With You” is the first book of Lauren Layne’s that I have read and was quite the surprise for me. Based on the synopsis that I read, I was expecting “fluff” but what I got was a story with “substance.” The characters are interesting, intelligent and multi-faceted. Not only did I fall in love with Sophie and Gray, but the secondary characters of Brynn & Will have me anxious to read the next book in the series, “Made For You.”
“Only With You” is a fun, witty, sexy read—one that I highly recommend!
