Although Mr. Shaara writes only fictional stories, they are based on actual historical events. It is very difficult to put down one of his books. He has the. Uncanny ability to write, giving a reader the feeling he is part of the action.

First hand accounts of key battles along the Ardennes, then a hard look at the smaller battles as the 106 fights to gain a bridgehead at the Rhine. Patton delivers his usual tenacity and Ike continues to be stalwart and strong. Good read from cover to cover.

Jeffrey Shaara has written another outstanding historical novel. This book, the third in a trilogy about WWII takes the reader through the exciting events of WWII in the European theater following the successful Normandy landings and the capture of Paris. Shaara focuses attention on the major players in this final phase of the war - Eisenhower, Patton. Montgomery, Kesselring, Churchill, FDR, Speer, and Hitler to provide a variety of insights into victory and defeat. His scholarship is impeccable and his writing is taut and well-formulated. A great read.

An amazing story of the hardships and heroism of our soldiers in one of the many significant battles of WW2. What pride we should have in these men and why this history is not taught in our schools is an outrage to deeds of these men. Why do our liberals fear history and truth?

A great portrayal of the sacrifices made by so many heroes. Mr. Shaara uses historically accurate events to depict the true emotions of all the main players involved during this monumental period in history. His books are great reads. Can't wait to read the next book.

The measure of an extremely good historical fiction novel is the ability to take accurate historical fact and seamlessly weave in fictional and non-fictional characters' conversations and actions. Jeff Shaara has accomplished this in this novel. It is a "hard to put down" novel!

This is an amazing historical novel about the 2nd World War. It centers on The Battle of the Bulge and the eventual German defeat. The insight into the personalities of the commanders lets us know far more about them than we would ordinarily know.
FDR's relationship with Joseph Stalin was particularly unsettling. But Eisenhower came across as the best of the best.

I started by reading The Final Storm. I was captivated by the author's ability to put me on the battlefield. I had to read Jeff's trilogy of the War in Europe. His writing style gives the reader the view from many angles. For anyone with an interest in World War II, these books are a must read.

Jeff Shaara has, again, written a very entertaning novel on WW2. The end of the trilogy. I would have given this book 5 stars, but in comparison to the previous two books, it isn't quite as good. My one minor gripe in this novel is that Shaaara, dwells a little too much on the grunt story (Benson). I thought the Benson chapters were a little boring and repetitive (entertaining but drawn out); but overall a great read. Keep 'em coming

This is a good narrative of the last significant German counter attack of WWII. It then follows the end of the war, primarily from an American standpoint. As is true of any novel, much of the important events and pressures from both the allies and the opponents is glossed over. Some of the individuals, whose stories are told, seem rather wooden. All in all, it's a good read and is relevant to anyone interested in how the European campaign was waged.

I love this trilogy from Jeff Shaara. I read them at night just before bed and find that it's getting so late, I have to put it down! This book is the 3rd of 3. It came in perfect, brand new condition even though, I believe it was supposed to have some minor signs of usage. I don't recall the vendor, but it wasn't from the store directly. I'll definitely buy from this dealer again.

As usual, Shaara provides history in a way so personal I was sure I was in the cold mud in the Battle of Bulge. His handling of the freeing of the labor camps by young soldiers seeing horrors they could not have imagined is superb.

This is vintage Jeff Shaara - interesting insights into and different perspectives on the war (WWII). Got too long-winded about the troops' winter hardships in the Ardennes. Otherwise would have given it 5 stars.
