Used this textbook for an introductory Sociology class. The author did a wonderful job explaining complex concepts and using relevant and up to date examples. I read the entire book, and had no desire to skip any chapters!

The book I received is in good condition; however the book cover is a bit ripped, some pages were bent, and there is some writing in the book even though they claimed that it is a "clean copy". Other than that, it looks good and it is acceptable; delivery was on time, that is a plus.

I am glad my teacher chose this particular book for our sociology class. This made the sociology concepts easy to understand, and I dare I say, actually interesting! It was not dry and difficult to read like other sociology books I have had to read in the past.

This book is one-tenth information and nine-tenths blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

Chapters are 20-30 pages. My notes on each chapter? Two pages. Three, tops.

Conley may be an expert on the topic, and what he’s talking about may be absolutely correct; but an introductory text on a subject should GET TO THE POINT, not wander meanderingly down ever anecdotal rabbit hole and conceptual woodland trail it happens across.

Reading this and parsing the endless anecdotes and long-winded allegories and metaphors was a P-A-I-N PAIN.

While reading this text book, I asked myself why I was so excited when reading about sociology. Turns out it's the style of this text and my love for the subject matters. The text is very personable and makes me feel like aan active participant.

I was looking for the Third Edition, not the Core Third Edition. When I put in the correct ISBN the Third Edition came up, when I clicked to buy the e-text the Core Third Edition came up and said "replica of the book." I assumed it was the same. It's not. Make sure you double check before purchasing. I ended up spending another $30 to rent the correct version to finish my course. My mistake, but not sure why when you click on the e-text it takes you to a different version (Core Third Edition), when there is an e-text version of the Third Edition too.

This textbook was required for my introduction class for sociology and I must say it made studying a breeze! It truly engages the reader and included modern and up to date references and humor to keep us reading. I wish all my other textbooks could be this easy to read.

I needed this book for my Sociology class and the one they sold at my school was around $100, so when I found this for only $15 I felt like I achieved something. Besides the price the book itself is really helpful so ya.
