The characters in this book are awesome. The story left me grinding my teeth and holding my breath to see it through the rough stuff so worried more immortals would perish...did they?...read and find out.

This series is fantastic and I'm loving each book more than the previous one. Ethan and Heather's story did not disappoint. Lots of action, intrigue and love. You need to add this one to your TBR pile.

This is one of my favorite series, but found this latest book sadly lacking in luster. It follows the formula, but I could feel Duvall going through the motions on this one. Past immortal guardians have each had an individual wow factor that distinguishes one from another, but Ethan doesn't. The other characters are all there, too, doing just as you'd expect if you've read the other books, but there're no surprises.

Keeping a series going must be the greatest challenge faced by authors. How to continue to give readers the excitement they've come to love, expect, and crave? It seems a series' decline comes when writers do one of two things: Having become bored with the theme, they follow the formula they've established, checking off all the requisite elements; or worse, they escalate those elements (sex, violence, the villain's behavior, etc.) to ridiculous levels. In Shadows Strike, Duvall does the former.

Where to begin??? First off, Dianne Duvall is one of those authors whose books I will immediately purchase no questions asked. I know that she will deliver everything I love in a book: likeable characters, action, romance, a continuing storyline where the previous characters still play a role, etc. Shadows Strike was no exception.

This book is about Immortal Guardian, Ethan, whom we met in Night Unbound. Ethan was such a likeable character in that book and I really couldn't wait for his book. Ethan is fairly young in Immortal Guardian standards and I feel that this fact allows him to have more of a sense of humor and a playfulness that hasn't been seen as much in the other Immortal Guardians.

Heather is a gifted one who has been dreaming about Ethan every night for over a year. She doesn't understand what her dream means but knows that she is drawn to the handsome Immortal Guardian. You immediately love Heather from the start. She has a playful side to her that matches really well with Ethan's character. The connection between the two of them is so believable and you never doubt why they're perfect for each other. That's one thing I love about Dianne's book, she knows how to write a great female character.

Shadows Strike book had me on edge so many times! I really love how the storyline in this series has progressed and I honestly can't wait to read the next book in this series. If you have not read any of the Immortal Guardians books, I highly recommend that you do. You will not be disappointed!

Let me start off by saying: This series is amazing! I have truly enjoyed it though I do wonder about these poor Immortal Guardians. Just when you think they've won...they haven't.

Ethan and Heather's relationship really was a whirlwind. I'm all for love at first sight, but this was borderline ridiculous.

Don't get me started about these damned novellas either. When you search for these books you find the Immortal Guardian series and the store lists the 6 books. Duvall tends to write her novels, tell you about things that happened during the time between (like Richart and Jenna getting married, Jenna turning, having a son, and being a descendant of Roland) which comes out of nowhere and makes you question your sanity. It happened again between book 5 and 6. Now I see the novella is being released in June 2016.

I'm all for making stories more robust, but at least give us the story before you spoil it.

But I digress. Because this WAS a good story. I liked the new players coming into the fold. I like hearing about the "Others" though I worry that while Zach got his own story we'll never get to Seth or David...or this new guy Jared. These guys are interesting. I bet we see Aiden next. Which is fine. Enjoyable story. Annoyed with the author. That's the short version. Happy reading.

I love this series. I like that the author incorporates some of the past characters in to the storyline. You read a book series and become attached to them. Can't wait for the next book in the series comes to life.

This is my favorite one in the series! These books just keep getting better and better with each installment as Dianne Duvalls characters continue to evolve. I've lost count on how many times I've re read this series. Can't wait for the next one!!

This series is all types of awesome. The characters are funny and fierce all at the same time. They also keep you updated on the happenings of the immortals and your favorite characters from previous books.

I was looking forward to this next installment, but found it lacking in new material. Same old immortal meets love of life, has lots of sex, fights vampires, puts on protective rubber suit to attack another bad guy compound in the daytime, mate become immortal and lives HEA, the end. Sadly I had to make myself finish this one.

This is a very cute Christmas story involving characters from all the previous books by Ms Smith. There are the usual number of clumsy sentences and typographical errors but the basic goodness and hopefulness of the season is clear throughout. The story is based on the presumption that the reader knows the backstories of all the characters mentioned, so if one hasn't readm, aty least, a few of the previous books, this one won't make much sense.
