We return to the Dark Protectors universe for book 8 in my favorite ever Rebecca Zanetti series. I have to admit I wondered how she would manage to glean more full length books from a series that had already been pretty much been fully explored, but with a unique twist, a little artistic license and a having previously spent a few hundred years spent locked away in a sphere in another realm we are now introduced to Ronan Kayrs.

The guy was sexy on a sexy stick of pure melted sexiness…

I don’t think I have ever made a secret of the fact that this series is my all-time favorite. The read the original books whilst going through a pretty dark time, and they were one of the few highlights of it. Who knew a war between Vampires and Demons could turn into someone’s happy place! But for me, you just have to say the surname Kayrs and it will produce a smile.

"I spent four hundred years seeing your face and feeling your soft touch in my dreams…"

For me this series is also the most consistent from the author when it comes to the quality of writing, characters, and story-lines, and for that reason I did start Vampires Faith with a little trepidation, we all know the phrase; 'flogging a dead horse' and I have to admit I did wonder if this return to the series was based more on keeping milk flowing from a well proven 'cash cow' rather than having anything more relevant to add to what has already been a series that will be hard to top.

He needed to know her better before he could woo her.

I with the premise of this book, the new characters introduced (as well as a few we already know) and the bigger story arc the author has opened there is a high chance that the forthcoming books will offer enjoyable additions, Vampires Faith itself was enjoyable, you get the usual character traits from Rebecca in that Ronan, is deliciously alpha, a little old fashioned, and a lot growly, and as usual Faith is no shy, retiring violet. The secondary characters were developed enough to make you eager for their own personal stores in future books and the introduction of the little known Kurgan-cyst and the plot surrounding their leader is likely to be the mainstay of the backstory for the entirety of the series.

"The foreplay was nice and all that, but you have no claim on me."

There were however some glaring similarities from the original series, in a way that felt like the author is essentially recycling a few tropes that were popular from it, and I have to say that one of my gripes that seems to flare up every couple of books is the characterization of the leading heroine. I find there is a fine line between confidence and independence in a woman, before its steps into dumb-big-headed-arrogance territory, and we were bordering on that a couple of times with Faith’s behaviour in this book. That-said it wouldn’t have been the story it was if she hadn’t done a few of the things she did, but it’s the reluctance to take responsibility for your mess-ups that is what mainly grates on this readers nerves.

"You beat here and always will. Everything I am or will ever be is yours…"

All-in-all a really good start. I’m glad to be back in this world, and I am pretty sure that the more this story arc develops the more of the original Kays clan will be included in its telling. I look forward to seeing how things play out in future books.

5 RIP-ROARING FANTASTIC LOVING DARK PROTECTORS STARS!!!! I have been waiting, and waiting and waiting to get my hands on this book. I was beyond curious to find out how this book would fit into the Dark Protectors series and you can bet your Vampire-Demon loving behind, I was not disappointed. Zanetti, is a go-to author for me. Her word building is spectacular and I just want to live in the Realm world with these males!!! Ronan Kayrs is special and one of the Seven. He meets Dr. Faith Cooper a renowned Neurologist, over 400 hundred years ago. Crazy, right? Hmmmm...maybe not so crazy in the Dark Protectors world, Lol. I am absolutely NOT going to give anything away. If you have read any of her books in this series, then this is a MUST, AN ABSOLUTE MUST READ, to further understand all that is going on. You can expect action, killing of the the bad guys and some new bad guys, suspense, heart-wrenching moments, scorching between the sheets sex, surprises, so many surprises, and a HEA! I just love the way this series is going and I cannot express the happiness I am feeling that Ms. Zanetti is continuing this series.
Another job well done! 5 stars*****

I have been trying to post a review since reading the ARC, but it wouldn't let me until it released...copied over from Goodreads (who DID let me review before the official release)...hope it helps convince you to buy and read this:-)

Full disclosure: I won a copy of the book in a Goodreads giveaway, hence my ability to read and review before the official publication date.

New to the Dark Protectors? Stop now...go back to book 1 and start from there. There will be issues, characters, situations that you will need the background to really comprehend. Not to worry, though, you won't regret the investment into this marvelous series!

Long-time fan and desperate for this book to hit your mailbox/kindle/etc.? It is worth the wait, as always! With the "war" resolved by Janie, Vampire's Faith introduces "new" characters and issues that will keep you wondering if you should have known, if there were clues to what is introduced here. Faith is, as most of the mates are, an intelligent, head strong, independent woman with no idea she is enhanced or that other species even exist. Her struggle to comprehend and accept are similar to the others, but the situations she and Ronan are faced with are all new. Ronan...ah, Ronan...elder relative of the Kayrs family we know and love from prior books, he is a Kayrs through and through...stronger than imaginable, dedicated to his family, mate, and cause, and with few weaknesses...another male to occupy our dreams:-)

New characters and players on both sides, as well as revelations about issues that, as mentioned above, leave you feeling like you should have known from clues in earlier books, if you are a fan, this is a MUST READ! Trying not to spoil things, but suffice it to say I cannot wait to see how the new issues resolve and how the new characters are integrated into the larger Vampire/Kurjan population. And if you are new to Ms. Zanetti or the Dark Protectors, I urge you to get them all….NOW…go…One-Click them all and lose yourself in this perfect fantasy world.

One small spoiler (although, I hope not too much of one), but I did groan at the end...the last line is seriously corny, but absolutely necessary..."...always had Faith." Love it, Ms. Zanetti!!!

The Dark Protector series by Rebecca Zanetti was my first paranormal romance way back when. I must disclose it quickly became my very favorite series ever!!!! It sent me on a wonderful fast ride to find all things paranormal romance. However, I kept coming back the to Kayrs men. I have re-read and re-listened to the audibles at least ten times. You must understand my excitement and sadness when we awaited the "last" book in the series Marked. I needed to know how it ended and was sad because I truly loved this world full of amazing characters who grew throughout the series. Then to my surprise we got a spin off series The Realm Enforcers, Which made me happy because a few of our characters would make an appearance here and there. Then it was time to say goodbye again.. Then some time later an announcement of Vampire's Faith.. Insert Happy Dance right here!!!!! You can say I had a countdown.

I pre-ordered asap. There was no doubt I would be reading this immediately. So I did get an early copy and read it then listened to the audible the day it came out. Can I tell you I re-read it and then re-listened in case I missed something.

It was wonderful being back in that world and very well written from this side of things. I was wondering how she would continue the story when we had an ending in Marked. But, in usual Rebecca fashion she did it and kept you enthralled where you couldn't put it down. I loved Ronan and Faith together. The story makes those of us who are DP fans nostalgic and new readers can easily follow along without missing a beat

.“I know your name because I spent four hundred years seeing your face and feeling your touch in my dreams.”

How amazing is that? Ronan fits right in to what we have become to love and be irritated with a Kayrs male.

I can't wait for the next installment. I will be honest this is going to be hard for me. I have never had to wait for the entire series. I came into the game toward the end so I had read like four of the books in a row. This is going to take all my book patience in the world :) Read Vampire's Faith you won't be disappointed.

Keep me intrigued from the beginning to the end. Can't wait for the next books. Want to find out what's the secret about Logan's brother, what happens to Hope and Garrett.
This book introduced a lot of new characters and had some of the newer old ones too.
Ronan wakes to find the woman of his dreams standing over him. Faith thinks it's all a joke. That is until they are running for their lives. Now Faith must decide does she believe everything Ronan is telling her, and can she trust him with her and her sisters lives.
So starts a new chapter to the story.

Rebecca Zanetti continues her sizzling hot Dark Protectors series with the story of vampire Ronan Kayrs and Dr. Faith Cooper.

Imagine Faith’s surprise at learning that vampires exist when she was asked to help a patient in a coma who wakes up the moment she enters the room. She’s a woman of knowledge and science but the irrefutable fact that the sexiest male she’s ever come across has fangs and she’s absolutely attracted to him. His existence has skewed her worldview and now she’s not just struggling with this overbearing male but she’s also running for her life.

When Ronan sacrificed himself to protect the world from evil hundreds of years ago he thought his life was forfeit, never thinking he could one day be able to touch the woman who was intended to be his mate. Centuries later when he wakes up, she’s right there next to him. She’s everything he dreamed of. Beautiful, smart, and caring. She’s also challenging and skeptic of him and the new world he’s introduced her to. Can he convince her to trust him before she puts her trust in the wrong species? Can he win over her heart a midst the threats surrounding them?

Vampire’s Faith is full of Rebecca Zanetti’s signature traits – stubborn independent heroine, strong familial bonds, page turning action, appealing characters, a determined alpha male and delicious sexy times.

Ronan and Faith square off more often than not due to Faith’s, well, lack of faith in Ronan. Yet he’s exceedingly patient and shrewd. He didn’t miss a beat and with Siri’s help he conquered modern civilization. Capturing Faith’s heart and keeping her safe was a completely different story but I loved every single time his alpha showed throwing caution to the wind whenever Faith’s safety was danger. Another swoon worthy book boyfriend thanks to RZ.

The new world building is fabulous. Built upon the existing Dark Protectors framework, the story crackles when unknown bad guys are put into play and new characters are introduced expertly joining favorite individuals from previous books making this an exciting and sexy read with a splash a humor that will hook you from start to finish and leave you wanting more.

Vampire’s Faith is book #8 of the Dark Protectors series by Rebecca Zanetti. It is an exciting standalone paranormal romance, told from various points of view with a happy ending.

Rebecca Zanetti tortures me again. I don’t think I am going to be able to rest until I get all the books in this series. Please type faster. I must have them now!

In this continuation of the Dark Protector series, the DP world expands as we learn about the secret brotherhood of The Seven and the ultra militant Kurjan religious cult known as the Cyst and Ulric their leader who the Brotherhood has kept imprisoned in an alternate dimensional bubble. The outer bubble which Ronan Kayrs was protecting has shattered after a thousand years, putting him into a coma for a few months until he is found by the humans under some rubble. Dr. Faith Cooper, is Enhanced, and has the ability to connect with coma patients and help lead them back to consciousness. Ronan doesn’t need her help, but Faith’s sister, Grace, is still locked in her own mind after a brutal home invasion attack.

Faith is very confused. She has Ronan explaining to her about her being an Enhanced human and mating and vampires and the dangers that the Kurjans and the Cyst present. Faith also has the Kurjan leader, Dayne, showing up after giving Faith’s comatose sister a jolt of Kurjan blood, and making her responsive. Dayne is promising that the Kurjans have more advanced medical technology than the vampires and can help her if only she turns Ronan “The Butcher” Kayrs over to the Kurjans. Since Ronan has been out of touch for the last thousand years, she isn’t sure if what Dayne is telling her is true and maybe things have changed since Ronan was last involved in vampire/Kurjan politics. Faith isn’t sure who to believe, but she wants a cure for her sister badly.

I will have to admit that I was as confused as Faith since we know from the prior stories that the Kurjans have been playing around with science and DNA. They have been trying to cure their aversion to the sun as well as creating that little virus to reverse the vampires’s mating bond. There were moments when I was with Faith on the maybe the Kurjans can help question. In the end of Marked, Dage and Dayne, the Vampire and Kurjan leaders, sort of put the war aside in a you stay on your side and I’ll stay on my side way, so maybe Faith isn’t wrong that life has changed in 1,000 years and maybe we can work together.

All that remains of The Seven is Ronan, Ivar, Benny, Adare and Quade, who is still in the inner bubble containing Ulric. They need two more members to complete their circle of seven and they approach Logan Kyllwood and Garrett Kayrs, but the blood initiation/trial kills more members than it welcomes and since it is secret group, they can’t even tell their families that they are risking their lives just trying to join.

We also learn that little Hope Kayrs-Kyllwood has even more pressure on her than Janie. Hope is the first female vampire born. She is has the mark of a prophet. And now we learn that there was a prophesy of the first female vampire and she would be important to the destruction of Ulric. Pressure, pressure, pressure. That’s a lot of pressure for a seven year old. There is also the question that in the end (if they become part of The Seven) will Logan and Garrett allow Hope to risk herself or will her uncles risk everything, even their membership in the Seven, to protect her.

Overall, I feel like I am back to that moment when I first read Fated (Book 1 of the Dark Protectors series) where little Janie created a dream world and met young Zane there. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on each next book but more importantly, I couldn’t wait to see what happened when Jaine and Zane grew up.

Now it is Janie and Zane’s daughter, Hope, meeting the young Kurjan leader’s son, Drake, and I am even more excited because nobody is going to be happy about Hope bringing home her Kurjan boyfriend.

In the prior story arc, Zane wasn’t the only one who stepped into Janie’s dream world. A Kurjan named Kalin also visited Janie. Kalin felt as strongly about Janie as Zane did and I would have wondered who she would end up with if somewhere along the storyline Kalin didn’t become a serial killer murdering human women. That kind of takes him out of the running for paranormal romance hunk. Hopefully, young Drake won’t get that same desire for slaughter as he hits puberty that Kalin did.

So once again I will sit impatiently waiting for the next book, which is Logan’s, to see what happens and how long it will be before we get to the other characters and until we can finally get to Hope’s story. And I am certain that Rebecca will drop that one sentence in each story that makes you stop cold and go “Wait! WHAT??? When is the next book?”

Received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Dark Protectors #8, They're back baby! With all new characters and bad guys along with some familiar faces. This is the start to a new story arc and can be the starting point, but honestly there are introductions to some characters that would make more sense if you have read the previous books. First and foremost I hated Faith. Her character just royally pissed me off she bordered on TSTL, and I hate that term so I don't use it lightly. I can go on and on about how and why I hate Faith but instead I'm going to talk about how much I loved everything else about this book. I love the idea of The Seven, a secret group that was created to protect everything from this great big bad. A big bad so evil they were barely able to contain it the first time. Ronan and one of his brother's volunteered to be the guardians of his prison in another realm, but seven years ago something happened and it knocked Ronan out of his bubble he's been in a coma ever since...until she walks in the room. Dr. Faith Cooper is a neurologist who has a special connection to people who are in a coma. She got called in to consult with a John Doe when she first sees him she assumes it's joke, no way that perfect specimen of a man could have been in a coma for seven years, and then he wakes up and starts talking crazy and then kidnaps her. Faith's life has spiraled out of control and she doesn't know who to trust, Ronan and his overbearing alpha maleness who keeps saying she's his mate or Dayne who says the exact opposite of whatever Ronan says but may have a way to bring her sister out of her coma either way her life will never be the same again.

Overall, aside from my hatred of Faith I really did enjoy this book, Zanetti is great with action and romance and this one got pretty hot. I can't wait for Logan's book or Adare's book. Zanetti has created book crack with this series she gets you hooked and there's no turning back. I can't wait to find out more about The Seven and the evil Kurjans and what's going to happen with Hope. Honestly and Voluntarily given

The Dark Protectors are Back!

Vampire King Ronan Kayrs wasn’t supposed to survive the savage sacrifice he willingly endured to rid the world of the ultimate evil. He wasn’t supposed to emerge in this time and place, and he sure as hell wasn’t supposed to finally touch the woman who’s haunted his dreams for centuries. Yet here he is, in an era where vampires are hidden, the enemy has grown stronger, and his mate has no idea of the power she holds.

Dr. Faith Cooper is flummoxed by irrefutable proof that not only do vampires exist . . . they’re hot blooded, able to walk in sunlight, and shockingly sexy. Faith has always depended on science, but the restlessness she feels around this predatory male defies reason. Especially when it grows into a hunger only he can satisfy—that is if they can survive the evil hunting them both.

Review:

This is the eighth book in the series and i have missed some books between the last one I read and this one. I think I really missed some great back story/references by having not read the other books in between. It is great paranormal romance and fully intend to read the rest of the books to catch up on what I missed.

I love when opposites attract and that is definitely the case in this. I love Faith she is strong, smart, caring, and willing to do what she needs to to help those she cares for. Now Ronan, the hero, is the strong warrior alpha type, but has been locked away for hundreds of years. From the moment Ronan wakes from his coma and finds Faith, they really have the instant chemistry but it is the love/hate kind. She has had a hard life and is having a hard time coming to terms with everything thrown at her and wants to concentrate on saving her sister. She wants Ronan and the intimate scenes between them are hot, but Ronan wants her to mate with him (which for them is for life) to help secure her power. Of course, Faith says no...smart girl with a proposition like that who would say yes...lol Poor Ronan though really does fall hard for the girl and they do work out their insecurities ,misunderstandings and stubbornness. These are two very likable characters that I think anyone could relate to.

There is lot of action and machinations going on in this book, all are not answered in this continuing story line. I cannot wait to see what happens in future books, especially Grace and Adare.

4.25 stars--VAMPIRE’S FAITH is the eighth instalment in Rebecca Zanetti’s contemporary, adult DARK PROTECTORS paranormal/fantasy romance series. This is Vampire King Ronan Kayrs aka The Butcher, and Dr. Faith Cooper’s story line. VAMPIRE’S FAITH can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. VAMPIRE’S FAITH is the introductory story line to the author’s new arc in the Dark Protectors series.

SOME BACKGROUND: A thousand years earlier, a number of immortal warriors went through a ritual that, if they survived, hardened their bodies against attack, a ritual meant to create a group of Seven known as The Shield. The Shield was created to protect the world from an evil race of vampires known as the Kurjans, their sect group known as the Cysts, and ultimately a rogue warrior once considered a friend- Ulric-a male of immense power. To protect the human race, Ulric was captured, and along with two of the Seven, was encapsulated in one of three spheres for all eternity.

Told from several third person perspectives including Ronan and Faith VAMPIRE’S FAITH follows Ronan Kayrs, half-vampire, half-demon, as he struggles to make sense of the new world order. Four hundred years earlier, Ronan Kayrs volunteered to guard one of the spheres but Ronan’s sphere shattered seven years ago, and ever since, has remained in a coma until the arrival of the woman with whom he would fall in love. With one sphere shattered, and no apparent way to connect with the other, Ronan wakes in a present day hospital only to be tended by the woman he believes to be his mate. Enter Dr. Faith Cooper, a strong-willed, independent feisty physician who specializes in comas and head injuries, and a woman determined to protect her younger sister Grace, whose own comatose status is quickly deteriorating. What ensues is the slow building and acrimonious relationship and romance between Faith and Ronan, as Ronan and the surviving members of the Seven come face to face with an enemy from the past. A search for the legendary Lock (the first female vampire in existence), and the three Keys (marked human females with enhanced blood) is a search that has some interesting results.

VAMPIRE’S FAITH is a complex, detailed and energetic story line with an alpha hero, and stubborn heroine whose choices and actions threaten everyone involved. At times, Dr. Faith Cooper is a little TSTL (too stupid to live) in that she refuses to accept that their safety is threatened, yet constantly going against orders continues to prove otherwise. Faith is determined to save the life, at all costs, of the sister she loves but in doing so continues brings the enemy to the front door. Ronan Kayrs knows that he and his fellow surviving Seven have been targeted by the Kurjans and Cysts; protecting his mate is paramount but his ability to protect goes only as far as his mate’s obedience as it pertains to her own life.

There is a very large ensemble cast of colorful and dynamic secondary and supporting characters including the cross-over from the previous series arc of Logan Kyllwood, Garrett Kayrs, and seven year old Hope Kayrs-Kyllwood. We are introduced to Ronan’s fellow Shield brothers: Benjamin Reese, Ivar Kjeidsen, and Scotsman Adare who, himself has been MIA for close to four hundred years. The requisite evil has many faces.

VAMPIRE’S FAITH brings together some of the familiar faces we have learned to love throughout the author’s Dark Protector series. The premise is edgy, intricate and descriptive; the characters are sassy, passionate and inspiring; the romance is seductive and fated. Rebecca Zanetti pens a thrilling and dramatic tale for the paranormal lover in all of us.

This was one of the most unexpected squee-inducing surprises of the year. I had no idea the Dark Protectors series was going to get a second season and keep going with a new series arc. I thought the grand finale book was great when it came in book seven, but a chance to delve back into this fantastic paranormal romance world was not one I could miss.
Review

Vampire’s Faith is, as I said earlier, a whole new series arc. It introduces new characters, particularly Ronan Kayrs and the concept of The Seven. I suppose a person could jump in if they don’t mind missing all the back story especially when familiar faces show up, but I thought it worked best coming on the heels of the others. It is a new story arc and new names are brought out so… maybe.

Ronan is great-uncle to the Kayrs in the first part of the series and he’s been off with his brothers fighting evil in another realm by holding a big baddie in a prison of sorts in this other dimension. But, something happens, the Seven have lost members, and he wakes up back on earth and several centuries into the future. This is always a fun concept for me because then I get to see someone have to discover the modern world. Ronan was a great hero and an alpha to the core, but getting used to a new day and age had him on his off foot for a while. He has a job to do now that the prison in the other dimension is down and he’s ready to do it. He wakes up to find his dream woman mate is right there in all her skeptical and dismissive glory, but Ronan is up to the task of breaking down Faith’s barriers because she’s his.

That brings me to Faith. Erm, yes… heroines, particularly ones who ironically have no faith even if her name is Faith and like to pull a stubborn-stupid now and then to keep things dangerous and exciting for everyone, are something of a struggle. Faith has a gift with coma patients and her heart is in learning all she can because her beloved sister is in a coma. She will do anything to save her sister- and that’s where all that stubborn-stupid comes in. She is pretty skeptical about Vampires and the whole paranormal world out there until denial becomes ridiculous in the face of the deadly danger they encounter.

I liked Roman and Faith as a couple once she stopped resisting so hard and things get pretty hot and bothered with this pair. But, I think I preferred the action moments more so than the romance. It was good, but not riveting. I felt the stronger part of the story was all the pieces rather one element over another if that makes sense.

Before I started reading, I did have that moment when I wondered if these could be just as engaging and action-packed with a worthy enemy and tense situation as the earlier stories. No worries, it kept me clicking pages fast and getting right into it. I was all in especially when a few crossover characters from earlier books like Janie’s brother, Garrett. I like what is sizing up with this group of Seven and the threat they have to deal with. That said, I’m in a wait and see about the dreamwalking stuff in one of the secondary plot threads with girl encountering the bad boy in her dream state and everyone saying he’s bad, but she doesn’t think so. I don’t want to see a carbon-copy of Janie and Zane’s story. Hopefully, it will have its own twist when it comes out.

So, excitement continues to reign as I now look forward to the next installment in this revitalized and new direction for the Dark Protectors. Paranormal Romance lovers who like good action and strong-willed heroes, here you go.

The chance to dive back into the Dark Protectors universe, and a new slant on a beloved series by Rebecca Zanetti should not be wasted by any Paranormal Romance reader. If you loved the powerful, sexy and completely addicting first set of stories then you’re going to love falling back into this world filled with new characters, enemies, danger, friendship, the chance to catch up with old friends and a love to risk it all for.

Yeah, I fell in love almost from the start with Ronan… Faith, not so much though, at least at first. There is intelligence, genius even… and then there is common sense, street smarts and the stubborn determination to put mortal ideologies onto an immortal. Granted, Faith had a lot to deal with, to understand about this unknown world. Yet, Ronan proves over and over, often at his or his friends’ peril, that he knows what he’s doing, can certainly protect her and guide her in this world and would basically do anything for her. His power is unbelievable, yet Faith continues to try to make Ronan adhere to mortal values and logic. She has a lot to learn, a lot to experience before she’s truly Ronan’s mate. By the ending of the book I felt she had finally gotten there… but it was, at times, a rough journey with Faith for me.

I don’t intend to go into the plot, for that you really need to read Vampire’s Faith firsthand for yourself. It is a intriguing, dangerous, sexy and excellent journey back into the Dark Protectors world We meet new friends and allies, encounter enemies, face down terror and danger, and reunite with some old well loved friends along the way.

I had a blast stepping back into this intricate world once again, and if you love Paranormal Romance, Suspense or Romance then you’ll fall in love with this story and want to continue the series. I highly recommend Vampire’s Faith and look forward to Demon’s Mercy. If you haven’t read the Dark Protectors earlier books… you could start here and know what is needed from earlier through the plot and dialogue… but I’d really suggest starting from the beginning if or when you can because it’s an amazing series that you’d enjoy. I know it’s not always possible with a long series to go back financially or time wise, but if you can it’s well worth the effort.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Dr Faith Cooper specializes in treating comatose patients, but when someone new and mysterious is admitted to the hospital, she is in for the shock of her career... and her life.

Ronan Kayrs has been... away... for a very long time. Coming out of his coma, when he opens his eyes he sees the one woman who he has dreamed of for a thousand years...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With a new danger and the most ancient of enemies, we begin a new journey in the extraordinary Dark Protectors series...
Faith is a woman of science and medicine. She meets Ronan and is then given a crash course on all kinds of crazy things, like ancient vampires, things that she has never even imagined existing. It is definitely not the way to convince her of the danger she may suddenly be in. And when the man in question who is spouting all of this craziness claims he is her... MATE!? There is no way she is going to following him anywhere...
Ronan has sacrificed his life for the greater good of his species. Thinking he would die protecting a prison and one very dangerous enemy, he is unceremoniously thrust back into the world, a thousand years from when he exited it. Finding Faith the minute he wakes up means something, and the fact that she is destined to be his mate ensures that he is going to do everything in his power to protect her.
The Dark Protectors are back!! Vampire's Faith is the beginning of a whole new focus for the series, with brief mentions and interconnecting characters from the first seven books.
I really enjoyed that this book starts a subtle twist in the once already settled series As the beginning of what could be a whole lot of future stories, I really appreciated the background and depth the new characters were given. I like Ronan and Faith, but they were not one of my favorite Dark Protector couples. I wasn't completely sold on their connection and felt like this book was a bit of a stepping stone in the renewal of this series and bringing in a new storyline.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
Admittedly, I only read one of the previous books in this series, but I don’t think it was that hard to dive in here. Sure, there is probably a boatload of baggage associated with all the characters we met (or re-met) in this installment, but this could easily be a standalone book that pushes a bigger story.
Faith is a doctor who uses her hidden gift to bring coma patients out of their comas. Sadly, this talent appears to work with everyone but her sister. On one of her many stops on her worldwide rounds, she finds herself in a creepy hospital looking at a gorgeous many who looks nothing like a coma patient. Trapped for years in a collapse of some sort, he should be banged up and wasting away, but its as if time stopped for him. Upon his sudden re-awakening, she finds herself thrown into a world where vampires exist and a war is brewing.
Ronan sacrificed himself to trap a big bad in an alternate dimension. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but, even knowing his awakening means his dimension has failed, he is very happy to be free and looking at his fated mate. Having dreamed of her for years, he knows her immediately. With Faith, however, that is not the case. She’s much more comfortable with facts and figures (and somehow explains away her magical gift). With just about everyone after them in one way or another, they are forced to work together and develop some level of trust.
These two have chemistry that lights up the pages! The sizzle is real and how they are able to resist it is beyond me. It takes some serious life and death situations to finally smash them together and force them to acknowledge their bond. I really enjoyed the side characters who we may or may not have known before and if future books give them a happy ending, I’m all in.
I’m really loving the world this author has created in her latest book of her Dark Protectors series. Between the vamps, demons, hybrids, Cyst and Kurjans, not to mention shifters and witches, I’m in paranormal heaven. In Vampire’s Faith, the history of these characters was entertaining and realistic, giving me insight into them and allowing me to feel like I was really getting to know them. Ronan absolutely made this story for me. He was my kind of hero - intelligent, heroic, protective, considerate, thoughtful, and such a sweetheart. I loved getting his perspective because I got to see not only his humor, but the awesomeness of his heart and his honest intentions towards his mate. As for Faith, I liked her for the most part. She had quite a few characteristics that made me admire her, such as her intellect, loyalty for her sister, compassion, and her determination to help and heal those who need her. However, there were one too many reasons why I couldn’t be her biggest fan and she alone is the reason why this book didn’t get all the stars.
Oh Faith... the many ways you got on my nerves...
⭐⭐⭐ I think there is a marked difference between spunky, fierce and independent heroines and ones that are sullen, immature and illogical. Faith was a respected doctor, which means she not only completed post-secondary education, but she also went through med school, completed her practicals, overcame her residency, and attained her certification/licensing as a medical doctor. That alone leads me to believe that she has not only intelligence, but also some sort of wisdom, if not common sense. So why is it that she could acknowledge how profound Ronan’s strength was, how inept and unprepared she was against his enemies, but consistently felt it necessary to think that she could take care of herself? What gave her this idea? And after it was proven that she indeed wasn’t capable THE FIRST TIME, why did she insist on persisting with this theme? There’s stubborn and then there’s stupid. Unfortunately, the brilliant doctor was the latter.
⭐⭐⭐ For a seemingly smart woman, Faith asked the most asinine questions and pondered the most idiotic thoughts. You know nothing of the immortal world. You didn’t even know it existed until Ronan entered your life. Yet when you ask him a question and he gives you the answer, you still believe you know more than him. He’s lived for more than 1000 years. Has had far more experience dealing with his enemies than you have. Has observed nature for far longer than you have. But you KNOW everything right? Because while he was gone, his enemies that you DID NOT know existed before now, must have evolved right? Let’s broker some peace with the race of people who killed your brothers and are attempting to kill you. Makes sense right? Because they could be good people. GAH!!
⭐⭐⭐ Faith doubted everything that Ronan told her. Despite the fact that his actions showed her, time and time again, how much she meant to him, the lengths he was willing to go to in order to keep her safe, and that his affections were true, he must be a liar. Why else would his enemies tell her so? It couldn’t POSSIBLY be because his enemies realized that she’s a fool and have their own agenda. Nope, let’s not use our brains.
⭐⭐⭐ This woman is constantly surprised at the greatness of Ronan and his brothers. Each time he does something otherworldly, she’s flabbergasted. It’s not like he didn’t spend the majority of the book doing the seemingly impossible. It’s not like she didn’t accept that he was IMMORTAL.
⭐⭐⭐ I get wanting to be treated as an equal by your partner. I’m all for it. However, if my partner is an immortal that can only be killed by complete decapitation, a male who can heal his injuries by sending healing cells to the spot, meaning gunshot wounds, hits by swords, and bomb blasts cannot destroy him as long as his head is still attached, I’m going to accept that my human self is no match. I will accept that there are areas where we can be equals and others that I’ll leave in his capable hands. I WILL NOT argue for equality when it comes to battle. It will take nothing to end my life. This chick kept saying that he couldn’t tell her what to do. I wanted him to take her word for it and leave her fate up to her. Let her stand in the way of a rocket blast or machine gun fire and see how her life fares.
⭐⭐⭐ She constantly gets mad and rebels against Ronan’s orders. He only commands her to keep her safe and she is constantly arguing and putting herself in danger in order to assert her independence when she has shown absolutely NO CAPABILITIES THUS FAR to prove that she can withstand the dangers they are all facing. She would put herself in danger, then rely on Ronan to rescue her, which he would do. She kept making him jeopardize his mission and at times jeopardized the lives of the ones who came before her, his family, who were the ones who were even willing to help her and protect her in the first place. Who does that? Faith does. She was selfish, childish, and irresponsible.
Wow, this review ended up being loooong!! Obviously I’m still a bit upset about Faith. My rant is over (for now). Luckily she wasn’t the end all to be all of this story. There was so much else to like and so many more characters to love. The men who make up The Seven have me entirely too excited to read more about them, but I’m not complaining because I have loved what I’ve read so far. If you love a story rich in friendships, family, love, and plenty of action, with an intricate and compelling plot, then you’ll want to add this series to your to-read list as much as I do.
The Dark Protectors series is my favorite of Rebecca Zanetti's. It uses the time honored theme of good vs evil, but with a paranormal twist. Vampire's Faith adds another twist in that Ronan is a King from centuries ago. His brothers descendants are the current time Kayrs family who rules their vampire nation and are the heroes of the earlier books in this series. A clever way to tie the stories together and keep this thrilling series alive.
I had a really easy time enjoying Ronan. When he entered the story he was kind of goofy, after all he was dropped into current technology, clothing, etc. He was charming and self deprecating as he wooed his mate. As the story moved forward, he became more demanding and reverted to the "I am male therefore you should listen to me" ways of the past. Luckily Faith was not going along with his program. It made for a tension filled  love story where both of their eyes were being opened to unusual things and they had to rely on each other to be their anchor in an unfamiliar world. The highlight was that the attraction between the two was sizzling and their passion jumped off the pages.
Where I felt the story slow down was when the Kurjans and Cyst were bigger players in a scene. I guess I needed a little more back story for this hidden sect that showed up all of a sudden as the big evil was closer to being released. I'm sure their part in this story will get fleshed out a little more in the next novel, which looks to be a good one. The story set up nicely at the end of this book to tantalize the reader.
If you love paranormal romances this series is great. You can start with book #8 and jump right in, but to get a better picture of this world start at the beginning with Fated. It's one of my favorites in the series.
I received a copy of this book through NetGalley for my honest review and it was honest.
I have a confession to make. Other than a novella, I’m new to the Dark Protectors series. I’ve read quite a few of Ms. Zanetti’s books, including the Realm Enforcers. However, I really have no knowledge of what is going on in this series. But hey, it’s Rebecca Zanetti. Even jumping in mid-series, I can’t go wrong.
Mid-series? Really? It doesn’t feel like it. I feel like I am starting from the very beginning with Vampire’s Faith. Oh, haha! Love the play on words. Totally though faith was going to be a spiritual thing, not a character’s name. Faith, I like her. Smart, strong, fierce and still able to make mistakes. In other words, she may be a doctor but she’s still less than perfect. Ronan, all I can say is YUM! Protective, charming, fierce…everything you can love about a protector from the past. He’s adapting easily to the future he is now facing and there are quite a few humorous moments to go with it. Faith and Ronan together, oh my. From stubbornness to doubt to finally believing, sparks are going to be flying here. Honestly, my favorite parts about them were when things started getting hot and heavy…and then there’s a knock at the door. *Snickers*
So, like I said, I’m new to the series and did not realize that I was jumping in mid-series. That is until Garrett and Logan make their appearance. Oh wait, I know these two! I enjoyed them every time they made an appearance. That’s when things clicked for me. Dang, I really need to go back to the beginning. I need to learn more about them, all of them. The ultimate evil that Ronan was guarding, the motives of the Kurjans, Garrett and Logan, and especially about Dage.
Dr Faith Cooper is renowned for her expertise with coma patients. Her expertise is requested for a coma patient that is not reacting the way a normal patient does. When she arrives, she believes a co-worker is playing a joke on her. The male she sees in the bed does not react or look like a regular coma patient would. What she doesn’t realize is this patient is not human and that she has bitten off more than she can chew with this case.
Ronan Kayrs is a vampire and has been dreaming of Faith for centuries. When he wakes up after being in a coma, he does not recognize this new world. He does recognize Faith as his mate however, and he will have her at any cost.
I received an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own
Will Faith and Ronan come together and be able to adapt to this new world each has been shown? Or will their differences and the new worlds shown to them tear them apart?
This is an all consuming and action-packed read. It is told in dual POV and had me turning the pages excitedly wondering what would happen next!
I loved Ronan’s caveman mentality. A total “Me, Tarzan, You, Jane” vibe. It was really cute.
This book was also so very funny. I laughed so hard when he had a conversation with Siri. It was priceless!
I loved the build up in their relationship. It did not feel forced or rushed.
Faith is smart, independent and so very stubborn. I loved this but her stubbornness, GAH! Sometimes it got to me.
Ronan is an alpha male ALL THE WAY. He makes no excuses for who and what he is. He is honest and up front and I loved him for it.
This is an exciting read that I enjoyed immensely. If you like an action-packed, page-turning, sizzling read than this one’s for you!
I received an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Hot Diggity Vampire! The Dark Protectors are back and their fiery new book, Vampire’s Faith, rocked my world and introduced to me more yummy protectors.
Ronan and Faith are two very strong and captivating characters that burn with electrifying chemistry that easily draw readers in and ensures that they never want to leave. I felt connected to these two characters as they worked out their very turbulent romance that is full of emotion, snarky dialogue and full steam ahead passion as they came together and clashed in all time “War of the Roses” type battlefield romance.
This fast paced plot kept me on a roller coaster ride of explosive action, thrilling suspense, and of course the very rocky romance. The bad guys have new allies and they are definitely up to as much as evil as they can do while the Seven are the newest good guys that are all about stopping that evil in any way possible, which might not sit well with the rest of the realm, so there is never a dull moment to be found during all of the life and death exploits that take place. In another twist, Garrett and Logan find themselves caught up in the Seven’s secret plans to fulfill a prophecy which adds even more thrills and suspense to the story
Rebecca Zanetti never fails to provide me with vivid, exciting and fascinating world full of fantastic characters that I can’t help but love so her worlds are some of my favorite ones to visit so it shouldn’t come to a surprise when I tell you that she has added a whole new dimension to the Dark Protectors world with this new twist in the series and I can’t wait to get to know the rest of these dark and sexy new warriors better.
I normally don't write very many reviews, however, this book... and truthfully this series, has prompted me to share my thoughts. Spoilers ahead.... I am pretty new to the Dark Protectors series and if you haven't read any of them it is OK to begin right here with Vampire's Faith (although, I'd highly recommend you go back and read the rest of the series, yes, it's just that good).
Ronan...what can I say about him? I completely enjoyed reading how he was willing to jump in and adapt to the way the world had changed. I can't imagine how it would feel to be in his situation, however, he handled everything with grace and kept going. He definitely is a sexy strong vampire/demon and I adore him!! It was fun to read how Garrett reminded Ronan of his family, to see that the Karys genes are so strong. :-) Ronan is a male that is easy to love... even when he is being overbearing like most of the males in the series sometimes are!!
Faith...she's a complex character! I've been reading reviews about how the reviewer couldn't stand her so here are my thoughts on Faith. Yes, she doesn't trust easily, yes, she is very bull headed, however, put yourself in her shoes. There is a ton of change that happens when you find out that there are immortal creatures lurking about that you had no idea that existed. Also, she has been through a lot losing her parents and having her sister being in the coma. Trust doesn't come easy to her and you can tell with all of her internal struggles. Yes, Faith seriously pissed me off when she finally said she trusted Ronan and then took off to the Kurjans. However, what would any of us do in such a crazy situation for a sibling?? Also, if Ms. Zanetti can stir such strong emotions in us regarding the character doesn't that show depth in her writing and insight to the human struggle becoming a part of this world?
Overall, I can say that I absolutely LOVED this book & I'm beyond happy that I have found this series. I am glad that everything basically worked out in the end and I can not wait until Jan. 2019 when the next book, Demon's Mercy, comes out. Until then I'm going to check out some of the other books by this author, I'm sure I won't be disappointed!! I hope that everyone enjoy's this book as much as I did!! :-)
It felt IN-FREAKING-CREDIBLE to get back into the Dark Protector World, only now it feels even more intense, wild, and yet a hundred percent fresh and shockingly new!
One of the things I love best about Rebecca Zanetti's books is the way the characters are portrayed. The heroes are pure alpha, utterly protective, caring and will show their women who lays down the law. Not in a cruel mean way, but in a sizzling-freaking-HOT way that not only have the heroines begging but us readers too! And lets not forget about these heroines. Oh so smart, soft hearted, strong, stubborn and they sure can match the heroes in passion, that is for sure!
Vampire's Faith brings us a true warrior from old. He is CENTURIES old, and when he comes to in the modern world the only thing that makes sense to him is Faith. And Faith certainly didn't expect to be drawn to such a bold warrior. I was ill prepared for how much this book would pull me in. I mean I knew it was going to be good, but this is a WHOLE NEW WORLD kind of good. Much more bold with true warriors that are way more powerful than you could of ever guessed. This story has a boat load of twists, surprises, mind boggling action and pantie melting passion that left me so H-O-T, I am surprised my kindle didn't have scorch marks on it! I am now BEGGING Miss Zanetti once again, for MORE in this darker, hypnotizing new Dark Protector world!
Vampire's Faith gets a MIND BENDINGLY THRILLING FIVE BRIGHT SHOOTING STARS!
Vampire's Faith is Rebecca Zanetti’s new series that is also part of the Dark Protectors Series. That sounds confusing, but it is a Dark Protectors story just as the description states but with new main characters and a new ARC problem. The original series was not one that was easily jumped into at any place. This book looks at if it will also continue a major theme so now is a great time to start. Some of the characters from the past are here to, so if new to the Dark Protectors get ready to want to go all the way back to the first book, Fated, binge reading them all.
New main character that I had never even heard of in the former books is Vampire King Ronan Kayrs. Like the other Kayrs, he is all alpha. The humor in having to come to terms with the new century that he finds himself is one of the best of this story. Of course, danger is not far behind. His love interest is Dr. Faith Cooper with danger on her and her family’s heels too. At times, Faith is more intellectual smart than common sense smart; making for some tense moments in the story
Their story is right in line with the other Dark Protectors novels; plenty of suspense, danger and romance. Fans of the series will love Vampire's Faith. Welcome, welcome, welcome back the Dark Protectors!
This author always manages to tell an amazing story, full of equally amazing characters. I loved Ronan and meeting the rest of the Seven has definitely piqued my interest. I read this from start to finish and was sad to see it end. The wait for the next installment will be intense!
I loved this book and it was a perfect example of why I read PNR. It has so much room to expand and reimagine things, and RZ is a master at this. I instantly liked Ronan and although Faith eventually grew on me and I ended up liking her a lot too. At times her alterior motives for being with Ronan put a damper on their romance. It got a bit frustrating that she was so easily swayed by others only because they said what she desperately wanted to hear. It was such a contradiction to her independant and uber smart persona. That was the only teeny tiny issue I had but overall, I loved still loved it :)
Memorable Moments:
Ronan's first interaction with Siri, it might be cliched and it might be a bit silly but I love the whole technology introduction. Ronan and Siri were gold for me.
Would I recommend?This was packed with action, suspense, great family ties and crazy ott insta-love but I loved it. It was a great read and I would definitely recommend it.
My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I have started collecting this series and have 4 of the 8 so far, but haven’t gotten this book yet.
The cover is nice, but I wish the tat was there or the mating mark.
This is the 8th book in the series, but my first time reading this series. It is for adults only due to the violence and steamy content. I really want to read all of this series and the Realm series too because I think it will fill in info for me.
I don’t know this series, so I could really feel for both Ronan and Faith who were trying to figure things out because I was doing the same. I bet if I was caught up in this series it would be even better, and it is already pretty great. I love books with tons of action, and this was definitely a page turner. I loved going on this adventure with Ronan and Faith. This world is a mixed paranormal world with all sorts of species…some good and some not. I can’t wait to read more of this series and more of Rebecca’s works.
I highly recommend to anyone who love complex paranormal worlds with an assortment of species! I need more of this world and hopefully in the future Grace’s story!
Vampires, Demons, Enhanced Humans – oh my! This story weaves a tale between ancient immortal enemies, fragile humans and safeguarding the world as we know it. I found it both entertaining and enlightening. Dr. Faith Cooper, specializing in patients with coma’s, is called to see a patient who was found under rubble of a destroyed building. The man should have died: his brain scan showed no brain function but he looks to be perfectly fit. She thinks a joke is being played on her. Faith touches the patient and he awakens. He calls her name, but how did he know it? She asks who he is and he responds in an unknown language. Sparks fly between them and just as suddenly he is speaking English asking her where he is, and then when he is. His name is Ronan. Yup he is a most extraordinary, sexiest, delicious vampire. He knows Faith because he has dreamed of her for over a century and recognizes her as his mate. Now the bad guys come into the story. They are called the Cyst and are there to kill Ronan, one of the Seven. Ronan is weak but manages to overcome the two Cyst scouts. They do not die easily. Ronan kidnaps Faith to protect her. Their extraordinary adventure begins. Faith’s sister is in a coma in the same hospital Ronan was in. She has to escape and get back to her somehow. I think if you are into sexy vampire/demons you will enjoy this book. The story clicks all the boxes for a good read. The characters are complex, dynamic, and amazing. Can’t wait for the next book in the series.
After surviving a sacrifice to rid the world of ultimate evil Ronan Kayrs, a vampire, emerges from a coma in modern times, several hundred years later. He is immediately face -to-face with the woman he has been dreaming of for hundreds of years, his soul mate, who also happens to be his doctor.
Dr. Faith Cooper believes in science and not much else. She feels the connection with Ronan but denies anything beyond simple attraction. She certainly doesn't believe in vampires, even when she sees proof, so admitting or accepting that she is his mate? Hah!
We are taken on a ride as Ronan and Faith try to stop the evil Ullric from being released from his mystical prison. His followers, the Cyst and the Kurjans, are trying to kill Ronan to free their leader. They are after Faith as well. Along the way Ronan has to acclimate to modern slang, technology, clothing, weapons, language, etc. Needless to say he has some funny moments. Plus the chemistry between Ronan and Faith just keeps getting stronger until they finally both give in.
This was my first book my Rebecca Zanetti and I am hooked. I already download the first five books in this series from my library. The author creates vivid characters, great world building and a tight plot. I enjoyed this from beginning to end. I would like to thank NetGalley for early access to this book.
Vampires, demons and witches. Oh my! Rebecca Zanetti is back with a glue your eyes to the page read. The story/ plot is all new but still manages to bring in material from her last two series. The characters are delightful and still have moments of wanting to hug and shake them. Come and meet The Seven!
This books can be read before her other series (after all it is the start to a new series), but it does have references to the previous series, so it's MUCH more enjoyable to read them all in order.
Zanetti is an A+++ author of Paranormal worlds and the beings that inhabit them. Vampire's Faith is labeled Dark Protectors #8. Her works are addicting but although each one that is read makes you want to taste more in the series; they stand alone too. Even though the main focus of the story is Awakening Vampire Ronan trying to claim his mate Faith Cooper; the pages are sprinkled with action, loyalties, and humor. This was GREAT in all ways and kept me reading rapidly to the end. "A copy of this book was provided by Kensington Books via Netgalley with no requirements for a review. Rebecca Zanetti can’t do any wrong, another great read with amazing characters and story. It was great to read, funny, full of action, hot sizzling scenes, family moments, and anticipation with suspense. I loved how you didn't know who was really a bad guy, who was telling the truth, who to trust. Both Ronan and Faith great developed how they met and Ronan’s discovering of the modern world was sooo funny. Their chemistry hot, and mating even hotter. A big thank you to NetGalley and Kensington for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I have read a few of the Dark Protector Series, but not all of them. I obviously had forgotten some things, as I was a little confused. The assumption is that you have some prior knowledge, and I was lost a bit. The characters are strong and interesting. Well Ronan sure is a charming man, "tension rolled off him, filtering around her. “Mate me and find out.” When Ronan is disturbed while he is with his woman it's not a pretty sight, “What?” he bellowed, standing next to the bed fully aroused, fury lining his face." Faith keeps tabs on her man, she knows his every movement, “I felt you leave last night.” Even in her sleep, she had known when he’d slipped from the bed." I liked this book, Faith was one determined lady and Ronan was one stubhorn man
Dr. Faith Cooper falls down a rabbit hole when she is called to consult on a long term coma patient. Unable to believe the strong, robust patient she sees before her is truly in a coma, especially once he wakes up at her touch and starts to miraculously talk to her. Believing it to be an elaborate joke, Faith suddenly finds herself submerged in a world where vampires, witches, and demons are real and the only one capable of keeping her safe is her "coma patient," Ronan Kayrs!
I am so happy that Rebecca Zanetti decided to continue writing her Dark Protector series after we all thought she ended it with the epic conclusion book 'Marked' back in 2014. Once again, Ms. Zanetti sweeps us into the world of the Dark Protectors, and what a ride it is. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the new characters, as well as reuniting with established ones. The new group and their mission were intriguing. I loved the depth and growth of Ronan as he became acclimated to the new world. My one struggle was with the heroine, Faith. I can't put my finger on it, but I didn't love her. She was okay, but I think her constant push and pull with Ronan was what bothered me. I just never bonded with her, like I have the other heroines. Definitely looking forward to the next book and continuation of the series.
Another great book by Rebecca Zanetti. I loved that she introduced someone from the Kayrs family that we didn't know previously, but that we also got to see some of the people we know and love. I also thought the new conflict was a creative way to extend the series. Can't wait to read Demon's Mercy!
This is a great book. Lots of action, funny moments and a good storyline. What do you do when you wake up from a ritualistic sleep.state that allowed you to keep a great evil from taking over this world and killing countless people? You went to sleep in the horse and buggy era tinker up to airplanes ,cellphones and your mate who has no idea what you are.. I could not put the book down. .
There is nothing better than reading a Rebecca Zanetti book. Especially her Dark Protectors series. I loved Ronan and Faith.
This book is filled with danger and human mates not listening to their Vampire mates. Stubborn heroines and alpha males. If any of this appeals to you then this is the book for you.
