Gives a short and very basic bit of info on the types of reading and only general information about what a high reading or a low reading could mean. Doesn't say how high or low. Not detailed at all, leaves the reader guessing.

Phenomenal book. Everyone needs to read this book so that they understand how to navigate what the doctor(s) are telling them. This is an excellent tool to use to advocate for yourself and negotiate with the medical jungle.

When my husband receives his blood work results he doesn't know what the numbers mean.. I found the book helpful so I can look up information about the results without having to go on the computer and he is able to read the information....

Not worth the read. 2013 and he still does not
know about the ton of research on the benefits
of saturated fat. This information is 15 years
out of date so you can't trust it.
Everything in here is half a second away on Google.

There I was perusing the 3 star reviews & what did I come across - the author's wife gave him a 3 star review because he gives reference rather than optimal ranges. I understand her critique, but the real effect on your health is in the cell & not the blood. But managed care has inexpensive tests for the blood, while cell function tests are the domain of research labs.
Nonetheless, the general public needs to be aware of blood reference ranges to talk with their doctor. By the time your blood numbers exceed the reference range, you may be in poor health due to the reference ranges being derived from a sickly population. Think of this as a reference book, rather than a book you read cover to cover. By the time the measurement exceeds the reference range, it may be too late. Prevention through diet and exercise is preferable, if you want to avoid medical conditions.

Only about half way through the book, but I have learned a lot about how results of labs are so critical to understand, even if you are in the 'normal' range. The idea of watching how your labs 'trend' is so true. You may be in the 'normal' range, but if you're trending up or down, that can be an early indicator of future issues.
