Bleachers

If you enjoy reading about ex high school football plays and players this is the book for you. If you enjoy reading about 30yr olds sitting in BLEACHERS remembering former glories, this is the book for you. If you enjoy a good plot and story line, this is not the book for you.

As a longtime high school coach, I can confirm that John Grisham has a clear understanding of the status of sports--high school and college. Bleachers is at once informative, sad, and true. I enjoyed reading it and remembering an earlier time in my life.

Coming from a similar, small town powerhouse (albeit East Coast) with a "mercurial" and hot tempered coach this was a great read. Same brutal one-on-one tackling drills, summer practices sans water, and wind sprints at the end of grueling "two a days". While we did not have any All-Americans or anyone (spoiler alert) who died in practice (several died due to car accidents over the years) there were many characters and stories that remind me of the "glory days" - of which many in my little town - who never left - still try to relive every Friday night in the fall.

I buy from the store and it's providers because they are dependable. It is hard to find large print books unless ordered in the local bookstore which may take a while to receive. It's easy to order from the store and my items usually arrive within the week--it's great!

Grisham's "Bleachers" struck a chord with me. I found myself thinking back to the carefree days of high school and my football team. When I finished the book, I immediately ordrered two copies; one for a former teammate and one for my high school football coach. If you played high school sports, especially football, you must read "Bleachers".
