This hillarious parody on the famous Hungry Games series will keep you laughing off-and-on through the entire book!I don't read much, but I could hardly stop reading this one!Very well written for a parody!A little stupid here and there, but still pretty funny!

There were a few funny points but overall I thought it was kind of boring. I got this book from the library and now I know why I got it so fast when I was 75 in the cue. I don't think many people actually finished it. The beginning was okay but the middle was almost painful to get through, only to be redeemed by a semi funny ending. If you got some time to kill, it's not a bad read but you ,may want to borrow it from the library or a friend.

This book was so FUNNY especially right at the beginning with the bark goes the cat part. This book had me in stitches and I personally thought it was hilarious. A tad immature thought nothing a mature 12 year old couldn't handle. Read this when I was 12 and am now 13. It's still just as funny! Great book thanks!

The only reason why i bought this book was because a friend recommended it to me since i already LOVE the hunger games trilogy but it was so captivating and funny that i was able to finish this book in one week. It ends surprisingly and I really hope they make a catching fire.

It was very humorous and very well thought out. But when i was reading it some of the stuff did not make any sense and i even read over them three or four times. But i will say that other than a few things a 14 year old could not understand is ok . It was a very good parody compared to some i have read or watched being acted out (like vampires suck movie i before i saw that i
actually liked twilight). But this book is a lot better i still actually like the hunger games (well love them i like a major fan).

I love reading parodies to see how twisted they make the original book. In this book, the names were silly (if you are familiar with THE Hunger Games), where the names in each version were similar but slightly off and humorous. Examples of such are Katniss is Kantkiss Neverclean, and Effie is Effu Poorpeople. As for the Hunger Games itself, they both appear to have the same concept ,but in Hunger Pains as you will see for yourself-from the beginning of the speech before the games begin to the end of the story, there is a sense of humor that no words can explain, but for you to see for yourself. I loved the Trilogy and the Movie, but if you are like me, you might just enjoy this form of satire on a story.

There are some pretty funny parts in this book, but I find Kantkiss Neverclean to be so unbelievably stupid, that I just want to step into the book and slap her silly! She takes the words "gullible" and "idiot" to a whole new level!!!

I'd strongly recommend this parody. I was really looking forward to it, having been a big fan of Nightlight and Bored of the Rings, and this didn't disappoint. I've read other Hunger Games parodies, and this was by far my favorite. That said, I imagine you'll enjoy it most if you've already read the Hunger Games. The writers do a great job of making fun of the tone of the original and specific scenes, so familiarity with the source material provides for a richer parody experience. Of course, it's still really funny on its own. I'd definitely recommend it as a gift for anyone (of all ages--it's appropriate) who enjoyed the original. It was a quick, easy, and really funny read!

I loved the original "Hunger Games" books and read this book because a friend had mentioned it. I started it thinking it wouldn't be anything worth reading more then a chapter or two. Boy, was I wrong! Don't want to give anything away, but this is a must read for fans/haters of the Hunger Games alike.

While I was writing a different review I was reminded to write a review for this book too! My sister let me read her copy. I love funny books that make fun of other books. I do not really like the Hunger Games as much as some people but I do like to laugh. The Hunger Pains made me laugh a lot too but you may not get why its funny until you've read the Hunger Games or watched the movie. Now that I see there are more books making fun of the Hunger Games series I will have to read them too. So if you like to laugh at funny things and at the irony, you won't be disappointed!

This book was really dumb because they copied the hunger games. I think they write this book was because they were feeling jealous of the hunger games. They wrote a book trying to copy the hunger but epic fail. It was a horrible book and I don't recommend

Sorry Harvard Lampoon....but I was not impressed. Some funny one-liners but otherwise it seemed like bipolar version of the original just oppisite and cofusing. I'll keep it.....but for people reading this.....I honestly would not advise buying this.

As I was reading hunger games I thought to myself it would be great if they did a parody like they did with twilight, and low and behold here it is! I was so excited to read this and it met all my expectations. I started giggling right from the beginning.

This book was super hilarious but definatly meant for older readers. Any part with Kantkiss is pretty much a gut busting laugh fest. I hope they write one of these for Catching Fire even though they killed off Peeta.

Riding the coattails of Harvard's dubious reputation, this book is an utterly boring PAIN to read! I agree with a previous reviewer's speculation that someone at the Lampoon must have had an in with the publisher. The "writers" should spend their time studying "The Onion" (of which I have no connection whatsoever) to learn how to write genuinely creative and hilarious parodies. The only positive point I can make is that the store's return policy is generous.

Okay seriously the only painful thing about this book is reading the sample. I hate parodies but I read the sample because i read the series and loved it.I do not understand the haters that would write this you have taken an amazing book and ruined it!
