Very interesting to hear her upbringing and while she doesn't ever bash her parents, you can read between the lines and figure out that she wanted their time and attention more than anything. Money couldn't buy those. Emily grew up while raising her daughter and it seems her mom also grew up and matured alongside Emily as well. It was interesting to read how she met Ricky and how she fell head over heels in love with him. One could sense that he was her constant, her steady hand -- she could always count on him 100%.. For the first time in her life, she could count on someone to always be there. Emily discusses being on The Bachelor in great detail and the connection with Brad Womack was very strong. You could sense it in the book. While she doesn't say it, I really feel like, more than anything, not being able to date out in public or carry out a normal relationship -- being couped up in a house and all the media attention really led to the demise of that relationship. She also mentions not having a counselor or mediator to help them assimilate back into the real world. Wonder if that would have made a difference. After she writes many chapters about being on The Bachelor, Emily really doesn't delve into The Bachelorette as much. Once can sense that it was more of an experience and that she really didn't have much of a connection with any of them except for Arie -- and he likely would have been her final choice had he not had a relationship with producer Cassie, who Emily considers a good friend. It seems that Emily more enjoyed vying for Brad's heart than choosing a suitor when she was The Bachelorette. It sounds like The Bachelorette was a stressful experience for her. Not much is mentioned about finally meeting her current husband. The ending is far too abrupt, maybe because she became a mom again and writing was taking too long to complete? The climax of the book is The Bachelor and then the fast forward button is hit, except it is pressed too fast. Maybe she doesn't want to go into explicit detail because she wants to keep that part private. Who knows? But you can tell by reading the book that she is very private. However, there is a lot that she doesn't say -- you can read between the lines and figure out a lot by what she DOESN'T say. A very good read, all in all. Just too quick to end. I'm so glad to see that she is happy and has a wonderful husband. I can relate to her anxiety and always questioning everything, the pessimistic, questioning outlook on relationships and life. God is good though and I'm glad she said "YES" too. :)

Emily Maynard writes with candor in sharing her life with us. She mentions her ups and downs of being on "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette", but does so in an ethical way, so as not to hurt her suitors. We realize that God had a bigger and better plan for Emily. Once she listened and stayed TRUE to Him, Emily Maynard Johnson found her true loves - God, her husband, and children. This book is inspirational and convinces the reader that what's on the outside is not what matters - rather what's on the inside, and that FAITH and HOPE in God, lead to deep, everlasting LOVE.

I really loved reading this book. Since I watch The Bachelor & The Bachelorette every season. I watched Emily Maynard's season both times. I really thought she was such a nice person. I wanted to read her book & I'm so glad I did! She explained what's it's really like to be on the shows. I got to see the show from a different perspective. Now when I watch the shows on T.V. I know what's going on behind the scenes.

at first in the beginning it was interesting, when she was on the bachelor and bacheloret she thought she was too good for anyone. Didn't like the way she treated men. then she became religious . Not of great interest. it was ok book but not worth purchasing

Beautifully written, heartfelt memoir...from heartbreak to healing, to a fairy tale ending, still being written. Emily bares her soul in this book. If you have ever rooted for this beautiful girl, who it seemed had a privileged and charmed life, this book is a must read. I bought it this morning on kindle and I can't put it down. Finished the book and disappointed no pictures were included.

It was so interesting learning about Emily's background and the inside scoop of what really goes on with reality TV shows. Emily is unashamed of her relationship with Jesus and it's awesome to read about her happy ending.
