started offas an informative though horifying acount of abuse tht may be going on. soon became mostly accounts of his sexual lifesyle as n adult..and not much about the abuse that may be happening....in the end he seems like a possible fantasist and i am not very interested in shamanism... However..i respecr the author as a strong and good person with a personal purpose ofgiving hope to the world.

This book is mostly well written, which is the only good thing about it. Otherwise the content of the book is mostly he said she said type material. Take my word for it. There are no real hard facts or evidence. Think of it this way.
"Hey i saw the loch ness monster"
"Really? Where is your proof?"
"Well i do not have any so you are going to have to take my word on it"
Of course the allegations in the book are much more serious than that, most of this is just a conspiracy. I also can say that the day care center at the beginning of the book where a college professor talked of satanic rituals on toddlers was false. One of the toddlers a few months back has stated that the allegations against the daycare were false and that the toddlers were coached on what to say. Aside from that i believe the author actually has never been involved with any crimes what so ever and either this is a great piece of fiction that he wrote or perhaps he is delusional.
Either way DO NOT buy this book.
UPDATE:
At the request of the author i read his blog and while he does talk about the events of franklin and how his family was involved he seems to make claims that he cannot back up whatsoever about his family and about a missing boy johnny gosch which is a real case. I marked my star down to 1 now based on these absurd allegations and odd claims that he brings up in his and I wonder how much he claims about himself is true in the book?
Again do not purchase this.

From the seedy underbelly of Omaha, to the barrier between the material and spiritual worlds, David Shurter tells an amazing story that few dare speak of - growing up with the people who invented the phrase "survival of the fittest".
There are thousands in the modern world who have endured a childhood in abusive cults, and for them, David's book is an inspiration to turn their victimhood into mastery. For those without the personal experience to relate to David's past, know that his narrative - while gripping and readable - gives powerful insights into the time of upheaval as well as renaissance the world is facing today.
Modern science confirms, through quantum mechanics, that the ancient mystical concept of an interconnected energy field is indeed the basis of our physical reality. David uncovers this truth, as well as the hidden interlocking structures that underlie our own government.
How can human trafficking and the drug trade be two of the most lucrative industries in the world, yet not pervade the wealthiest, well-connected elites of society? What is the connection between the customs of Freemasonry, whose members include many U.S. presidents, and the secret oaths of organized crime, or the initiation rites of street gangs?
Why do so many "primitive" religious groups worldwide share fundamental similarities in their beliefs and rituals? What is the link between Native American shamanism and the Old World fertility cults, the worship of Apollo, Baal, Lucifer, Osiris, Satan... religious practices that are little understood, romanticized or villified, and mistakenly thought to be relics of the past? And are the occult brainwashing techniques of the ancient priesthoods - hypnosis, mind-altering drugs, incantation or neuro-linguistic programming, dehumanizing rituals - carried on by those who seek worldly power today?
Why did L. Ron Hubbard Jr. say in a Penthouse interview in 1983 that "Black magic is the inner core of Scientology"? In the same interview he said, "find a person's kinks... their sexual drives and desires and fantasies, and then you can fit a ring through their noses and take them anywhere. You promise to fulfill their fantasies or you threaten to expose them -- very simple."
David's story is really about people, about human beings at their most ruthless, but also about the purity of human compassion and redemption, the qualities that often come out in the times of greatest adversity. His story becomes all of ours, because it is real, and it has all the heart, grit, and uncertainty of true life. David reminds us that we are in the birth pains of a new world, a future that we are writing at this moment. Like birth, the light of dawn can be scary, but brings freedom, empowerment and understanding.
Once you go down the Rabbit Hole, you will never be the same.

David's book is an excellent portrait of Omaha in the 1980s (and before). It is well written and informative. He describes "gay Omaha" in a way that is gripping and terrifying. The old adage that "absolute power corrupts absolutely" is a well proven fact. As most people know, there is a lot of money here in Omaha. So, a lot crazy things have happened. Most people dismiss these goings-ons as some sort of a conspiracy theory, but believe me, they are true. Everyone living in Omaha knows it. The standard view is that if you turn your head the other way, no one will ask any more questions. Well, kudos to David for putting it back out there and demanding the World to take a look! Read this book and you will understand! It is a well written missive on what happens when one group of people has too much power and too much money.

"Rabbit Hole" is probably the most raw, realistic, and educational book I have ever read. You would never guess in a million years that these horrific events have been happening all around us, for generations!!! It takes a brave, honest, MAN, to publicize these traumatic events that consumed his life for so long, just so society is aware of the HELL that surrounds us. It opened my eyes, and I am extremely thankful for this. It breaks my heart to know that these things have been going on, and its publicly known, and I still have yet to hear of anything being done. Well done David Shurter. You are a very brave man for putting your story out there, and I thank you for that. I can't wait for your next "must read"!!!

Thanks to this survivor and his continuing investigation along with others we glean the only truth that matters to those who wish our species to continue. The overall plan for us "useless eaters" is depopulation. What else would the elite, who spend our hard earned resources wiping mostly brown people off the face of the earth, do to recharge themselves ? More sophisticated technology for this purpose arrive daily. Get a clue if you think this is science fiction.

These kind of things shouldn't happen. They do though I hope that when the truth comes out the people behind this kind of thing. Pay if the story is true the names being mentioned are some power brokers in a small state.

Mr. Shurter most definitely came from a pitiful background. He goes into depth on his abuse, his Satanic parents, Shamanism and his homosexual lifestyle. I was rather intrigued at the beginning of the book when he laid out a number of claims which in the end were substantiated by conspiracy. It rather fizzled out at the end.

Shurter seems so dis-integrated, I am not sure what is fact or fiction and, I suspect, neither does the author. This read was a waste of time for me and seemed an attempt of Shurter to work out his "issues" in print.

I enjoyed reading this book. It was well written, well researched and well documented. I liked how it connected personal aspects of the author's abuse story with documented evidence of abuse. The author definitely did his homework, pulling solid research from different sources to back up his story. The author's courage and hard work should definitely be applauded.
I had problems with the size of the book, it is larger than some paperbacks. This design makes it easier to read with better spacing than many paperbacks. The cover has a red heart on it, might be upsetting to some survivors of severe abuse. But the cover is very well designed and made me want to get the book, with what I had already heard about it. Overall, I strongly recommend others read this book, to find out the true story about child abuse.

Rabbit Hole is a brave memoire of survival and fighting back against child abuse. David is courageous to say the least. Thank you for helping other survivors of this horrid abuse to speak out by becoming such a good example of exposing the truth.

Rabbit Hole required self publishing for many reasons. It lacks solid evidence of any kind. David shares allegations of early child abuse, sexual liaisons, wisdom from his therapist, personal mystical beliefs and paths he has wandered, interjecting himself into numerous controversial mass conspiracies. Debunked and unsubstantiated ones.
The inconsistencies and abundance of conflicting narratives would never pass the sniff test of a reputable publisher. For instance, David's book jacket and book content state that David was unaware of nightmarish memories until after entering therapy. Yet when critics pointed to the possibility that his recovered memories could be false or contaminated by therapy, he stated his publisher made the "mistake."
David's description of his therapist (practicing shaman), the tone of their therapeutic relationship and new age approach to healing, present possible boundary and susceptibility issues.
The Omaha Bank scandal was a true crime where substantial money went missing. Wild allegations spread, regarding who was responsible. David mixes commonly known facts with outlandish speculations. As I read, i got the distinct sense of David inserting himself into hometown history - weaving to belong? To be acknowledged? I don't know.
I believe David continues to suffer from some type of abuse or neglect. His family sounds highly dysfunctional. His allegations about his father, leader of a satanic cult - grooming David for becoming the anti-christ? Human sacrifice and cannibalism? Again I see David inserting himself by localities, controversies, conspiracies and timeliness.
I've read Rabbit Hole and followed the author's video investigations. More confusion. Dates don't always gel. David's birth date alone, contradicts some allegations.
Abuse survivors deserve to be heard. They also deserve to know that recovered memories could be false memories manifesting as DID.

The largest problem I have with this vanity publication, is that it is not branded as FICTION. A colorful tale of unsubstantiated events, woven around a true case of bank fraud. Misinformation and claims of this magnitude can have ill affect on those exposed to mental health care providers who are looking for satanists around every corner or the recesses of their patient's minds.
The author, known to pounce on those who question the veracity behind the many incredible claims in this book, has not yet succeeded in producing the investigative or police corroboration he suggested was shortly forthcoming over a year ago.

There is no such thing as Satanic Ritual Abuse, period. I don't care if someone comes along and claims to have been a survivor of it, it doesn't exist. It belongs in the same category with stuff like Jewish Ritual Murder, which also doesn't exist.

I throughly enjoyed the whole story. I just wish there were was slightly some more information about the Washington aspect. But I can't complain, it was a terrific read. I am going to read this a second time, it's that good. Thank you Clyde Lewis for having David on and introducing the listeners to David. He most certainly has a story that needs to be heard.

I never knew about this happening, it just blows my mind that babies and young children were subjected to these tortures. I remember the daycare scandal but never knew how deep it went. This is eye opening and heartbreaking.
