This book was obviously written for a YA audience, but I still enjoyed it more than I thought I would. The characters are realistic, with personalities that you see in everyday people,a d I think that adds a nice touch of realism to the supernatural setting. The plot went along at a steady pace instead of dragging like some other books, and though there's an overload of 'teenage vampire' novels out there lately, this one was better than most.

Just read What Kills Me by Wynne Channing. The imagery in this debut novel is vivid and beautiful. I loved the contrast between the kick ass fight scenes and the scenic beauty from Italy to Asia.
The internal struggle and the journey of the main character, Axelia, drew me in. It's not every day that a 17-year old learns she's immortal, has a thirst for blood and must learn to sword fight her enemies. Go, girl power!
Five stars! An exciting, fun and beautiful read with unexpected twists and turns.

The gripping psychological thriller with a shocking twist (Tom Douglas Thrillers Book 6) :: A Novel of Suspense (Lucy Kincaid) - Kiss Me - Kill Me :: Surviving a surgical internship...even if the patients don't :: Wide Sargasso Sea :: Romantic Comedy Mystery (Greatest Hits Mysteries Book 1)

The author has managed to introduce fresh air to the vampire genre. I immediately cared about Axelia and found her a very believable protagonist. The story is never predictable or boring and I went along for every second of the ride. Thanks for a great read!

Wynne Channing's novel was an amazing read. I loved the different take on a very popular genre. I won't give any spoilers but it was refreshing to read a romance novel that didn't have insta-love. It was a gradual release if emotions and seemed to slowly form over the course of the book. If you're looking for a unique and well written Vampire book, this is for you! I give it five stars!

OMG!!!!!!!!!! WOW! This book was absolutely amazing. I love it when books suck you right in and don't let go until the very end. Even then I wanted more.
Wonderfully written, fast paced, funny, witty, scary. I love the vampire world Miss Channing created. Can't wait for the next installment.

This book..from the first page, captured my attention, and had me hooked, literally. I couldn't put it down until I had finished it. I love how Mrs. Channing puts so much into her characters in such a short time, giving the reader an even better and deeper understanding pf everything that is happening. Absolutely love it!!!

Very unique and descriptive. I enjoyed this book because brought a new view to a vampire novel. Channing changes how vampires become vampires and how they survive. If you like the supernatural and/or sci-fi genre, this book is ideal.

Such a good read. I truly enjoyed the main character and was able to picture what she was going through. This book has all great points to it and really could only find one flaw, that the sequel isn't out yet!!! Hint hint to Wynne to get writing!!! Highly recommend if you are looking for the next big series!!

I actually like this more then I thought I would. I didn't expect much from it and was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't by any means the best thing I have ever read, but I enjoyed the main character and she wasn't as stupid as characters in novels similar to this usually are. However, the ending did feel a bit rushed.

It was different and interesting to me, unfortunately for my husband I couldn't put it down. I liked how the story was told it was exciting and colorful. I am glad she wrote a follow-up, book 2 which I have also read and enjoyed. Could there be a book 3?

This book is fantastic! The characters are well developed and the story is full of action, suspense and a little romance. This book kept me up too late many nights in a row, as I was lost in the story. For anyone who thinks vampire books are for teens they need to read this one! Wynne Channing - I can't wait for the next one.

Did you like Twilight and have you ever found yourself thinking that you wish you could read a book almost exactly like it but far more undeveloped with plot holes as big as Texas and enough insta love to make your stomach turn? Yes? Then read this book.
And then go jump off a cliff.
And then go jump off a cliff.

I love paranormal novels. I have read and reviewed more this month then I care to count , that said I only tend to reviews those I really like or the ones I probably could have skipped. That said...
This first book of the series felt like a novella that left too much background and information that could have really strengthened the characters and story as a whole. It felt .... Rushed.
I defiantly enjoyed parts of it and the new twist it gives to vampires. I felt the main character was very real and believable, well developed. The leading man, strong character but still a bit foggy. Something that I felt should have been stronger. I mean yes I'd live to have that brave handsome man... But there is so much of him still mysterious and undefined that I would steer clear. I think his character doesn't have a sting hold if who or what he is and it makes me curious if the writer does ?
The side characters and plots to the story are far too many and most way underdeveloped. Leaving much to wonder and a little confusion. I am wonder with so much going on in the side and so many of what should be major events in a novel or a series crammed in so quickly (there is no way to explore them let alone background to them that may have heightened the event!) maybe the could have been more sprawled out and sunk into to give the reader more understanding causing more emotion to the event ?
it DOES leave a lot of room to expand within the series. But I feel the lack of definition will forever hinder the progression, too much confusion n the reader won't be able fully understand the depths of their world or totally relate to situations and most of the characters ( the main character is the only one that seems will be relatable, the rest stray too much and what I've read of what's to come, more confusion and staying from any foundation. Thinking for once I'll skip the rest.
Very fast paced book. Lots of killing lots if action, and almost too quick of a read. Leaving you wishing there was more. Not another book yet but more to the book. Seems kind of a waste of a day....
Sorry hate writing poor reviews but just don't see this as worth while and am disappointed because it held potential. I kept waiting but it failed to deliver.

Well written, with believable character development and a storyline that kept me engaged and turning pages. It left me wondering whether there will be a sequel, but it was refreshing to read a novel that can stand on its own.
