I am a grandmother reading this series of books with my 9 year old granddaughter, Josey. We both have a Kindle, so we read the books independently and then compare our experiences - she then writes a book report. Josey is homeschooled. This series of books is wonderful. I love the stories as much as she does. They are very funny, exciting, and challenging. Lots of new words are used for a 9 year old, but the author gives a definition on the spot and with humor. Wonderful is how I describe these books.

This was a pretty good book, because Count Olaf was pretending to be a gym teacher and he made the Baudelaire's run laps all night long so they would fail their test. Then Count Olaf aka the gym teacher would adopt them.

Just finished watching the Netflix series, season #1. I had not heard of the series before the show aired. I loved it so much, I purchased the book series. Very happy to spend my free time reading this!

I am glad that someone has brought wry humor back into children's books - Though I love the Harry Potter series I am glad that this series is around to show the darker side of humor I will be saddened when this series finally ends !

My daughter is reading this series to my husband and me. This installment is, as expected, very entertaining. A little slow on the upstart when compared to the other volumes in the series, but no complaints.

This is a unfortunate chapter in the Bauldelarie children's lives . In this book they are working at a lumber mill . I won't give to much away but the word lucky is a word that is causing a lot of trouble in their lives . I would recommend that you read the first three books in the series before you read this book because it may be a little confusing.

The Austere Academy is a very exciting book and really makes you want to keep reading, but as it
said in the beginning it is also a very sad book and especially the end of it. I love the book a lot but I wish that Lemony Snicket would not keep telling you what would happen, but other than that the book is great.
