This book really provided me with some unique insights about job misery. An easy read, I got through it in the span of 3-4 hours. I have a number of things now I can chew on, rather than simply stew in my misery. If you are feeling as miserable as I am, I would recommend you read this book.

This book is a great fable (like The Five Dysfunctions of a Team) that could describe any company and any manager. The situations and "signs" are common to many industries, so the concepts apply to a wide range of managers and employees. It's great for managers to learn how to get to know their employees' needs and for employees to learn what they need from their managers. I plan to share this book with my boss and other senior managers.

I recognized early into this book that I had read it before under it's previous title of "Three Signs of a Miserable Job" but who wants to publish a review on a book with that title as it may broadcast your misery to the world. The new title solidifies it's purpose stronger. i.e. It is a leadership tool to assure your team is fully engaged and that their enthusiasm and passion for what they do is operating at peak levels. Mr. Lencioni style speaks for itself as his books are outstanding readings for a plane trip. As a leader, I find the principals of this book extremely accurate and simple must haves if you want the best out of your team members. As an employee, I can point to 1 or more of the tenants anytime my satisfaction levels dipped.
The Miserable Mill (A Series of Unfortunate Events :: Books 4-6 (The Miserable Mill; The Austere Academy; The Ersatz Elevator) :: The Prince (Penguin Pocket Hardbacks) :: The Christian Right and the War on America - American Fascists :: A Sci-Fi Space Opera Adventure Series (The Ascension Myth Book 1)

I have just been promoted to a senior management role and found this book really interesting and simple to read. I like the examples it highlights. It's everything you know but forget to use in the day to day management and leading of teams.
