I was deeply disappointed with this book, especially after the good reviews that it received. The flaws are so many that I don't even know where to start this review. First of all, this is supposed to be a paranormal time travel romance, but there is no historical or paranormal details whatsoever, the storyline could happen easily in a contemporary romance. The characters are poorly developed. The Heroine has a prejudice against beautiful man because of a past experience, which the author expect us to believe that gives her the right to treat the Hero badly, being rude and calling him by another man`s name repeatedly! The Hero, on the other hand, is the most perfect man ever seen, with a pick of every woman breathing, but falls in love with the heroine on the first sight, even while she is being rude. There is no romance. The plot is weak which enhances the poor development of the characters.

I don't usually read romance novels, but I really like the Highlander Series. They are entertaining and set during a time I enjoy reading about. I find myself wanting to get to the next book to find out what is happening in this sprawling family in interesting people.

I purchased this book because I really enjoyed KMM's Fever series and the reviews were pretty good. I was really bored by this book to the point it was difficult to finish. The characters dull and one-dimensional. Nothing actually happens in the book. When something does, it is resolved in a page or two. Just a slow and tedious read overall.

Karen Marie Moning is a marvelous writer! She brings the details to life that it grabs your collar and pulls you into the story and plot. She is a talented and gifted artist with a wonderous talent. Karen, I want a Highlander, any chance of getting one that looks like the characters in your books? This novel is filled with humor, suspense, romance and very steamy! I've read all of the novels, and have been enchanted with all of them. I can't wait for the next one!

Unfortunately, after having read the (other) Highlander series, I was a little disappointed. Was hoping for well written historical fiction… This was not it. Won't be buying the rest of the series. This would probably be great for someone about 12 to 14 years old.

If you're looking for good HISTORICAL fiction, look elsewhere. There's absolutely nothing of this time period, culture, or people reflected in this book. But if if you like heaving busoms and rising...muscles...this is the book for you. Was an ok enough story line to finish the book, but won't read any of the others in this series.

I enjoyed this book immensely. It is well written and a great introduction to characters that are seen in later stories by Karen Marie Moning. I particularly enjoy how several of her stories follow each other with excellent character development.

Karen Marie Moning is an excellent writer. First I read her Fever series and then I thought I would try her Highlander series, this series did not disappoint. While this book is a pure romance it was a wonderful read

I started reading Moning with the Fever series. I got about five books in before I quit. I still read the blurbs to see if I want to catch up- but nothing has caught my attention yet.

I needed a book and thought I would try her Highlander series since I really like the first couple books in the Fever series.

This book was just not great. I never got into the characters and quite frankly, if you are going to change time periods-- it would be nice to see someone having a bit of a hard time doing it. I mean, Adrienne was able to adapt to the language because she just happened to be a closet language guru. Of course she was. How convenient.

If you haven't read the author before-- definately try the first couple Fever books. If you have read those and are contemplating this series-- I would not recommend it.

Great story; strong characters, gorgeous Scottish setting. I don't enjoy the supernatural aspect as much, with such a strong fae influence, but the main characters reminded me of Taming of the Shrew. Well told.

Meh, I could do without all the smoochy nonsense. You can skip this one if you started with her Faefever series. It's just going to annoy you. I kept waiting for the heroine to kill someone or do something kick@$$. Alas, it never happened. Good read if you're in the mood for romance though.

You can tell that the author has some talent, because despite my dislike for the story, I think it flows. That being said, I felt the characters' traits were one big cliché. Maybe this was the start of books that are similar to it, and because I am reading this over a decade after it was published it seems overdone and unoriginal. But, it had so many negative and corny features that I have already read over the years rolled into one novel, that at times I laughed out loud at how ridiculous it was. It often felt even contrived, which is such a horrible thing in a book. I like a good story, even if it is a bit fanciful. I loved the "Outlander" series which is similar, but so far above in quality and characterization than this nonsense.

This author has written better books (i.e., the Fever series). This book has elements of those but it's not nearly as successful in telling a coherent story where you believe in the characters and care about their stories. I can suspend disbelief for time travel and fair folk because it's a novel but there's only so much a reader can overlook - specifically, the main character is a virgin (why???) who was formerly engaged to a very attractive, wealthy man (a drug dealer). There's no explanation as to how this even makes logical sense. Coffee, which would have been unheard of in Scotland at the time of the book, is discussed at length. The characters act inconsistently for no apparent reason. How is a modern woman , especially a virgin, ok with her husband hooding her, binding her and threatening rape? No unpleasant aspect of how people lived 500 years ago is even mentioned by the author much less dealt with by the main character - she apparently has no qualms about giving up modern life such as bathing, hot water, toothbrushes, medical care, etc. None! No believable explanation of why the hero no longer had to do what his king ordered was given. There were many other things that just did not make logical sense from a story telling perspective. The story idea was good but the execution was poor. Avoid this one.

The story caught me immediately. The male character was stunning, a man who could not be refused by any woman, and tormented, until the beautiful Addrienne came to his life, disguised, and prisoner in time. A love story, with a twist.I enjoy every moment of it.

He was known throughout the kingdom as Hawk, legendary predator of battlefield and the boudoir. No woman could resist him, and no woman ever stirred him--until a fairy with vengeance tumbled Adrienne de Simone from modern-day Seattle into medieval Scotland.

Adrienne is caught in a century not her own--entirely too bold, too outspoken, she becomes an irresistible challenge to the sixteenth century rogue. She is coerced into marriage to Hawk, but vows to keep him at arms length--but his seduction plays havoc with her resolve.

She has the perfect no for Hawk, but he swears she will whisper his name with desire, begging for passion he longs to ignite within her. No barriers of time and space will keep him from winning her love. Adrienne is no match for Hawk's determination to keep her by his side. Great story.

I decided to read this after reading the fever series. I can't really see how this is even the same author. The fever series was perfection - this was annoying. The characters were blah. Story was cheesy. Probably won't read the rest. I may go back and read Iced but I'm not really interested in Danis character.

I never read a romance novel before, and this series got me hooked! I love series books and this one offers 8 books! It's best to read the series in order, but each book can stand on it's own with it's own love story. You are given a satisfying ending for each book, no cliff-hingers. However, if you can start at the beginning and take the entire journey with the old characters appearing at different times, it all ties together nicely.
