I wanted to practice mindfulness and this was one of two books I purchased in Kindle version. It came with a set of audio meditations to take the beginner through beginning mindful practices. I use this book as an ongoing tool.

I teach mindfulness and this is one of my favorite guides. It gives a very helpful and fresh perspective. It is very good at explaining how you build a practice and how to use the formal practices and translate then into use in everyday life. I have reread it many times!

VERY good book on mindfullness and living in the present. The MP3 tracks are especially helpful and I listen to them frequently at work, during lunch breaks, anytime I feel the stress and anxiety seeping in.
25th anniversary edition (A Merloyd Lawrence Book) :: Anti-Stress Art Therapy for Busy People (The Mindfulness Coloring Series) :: An Unhurried Adventure in Creative Mindfulness (Flow) :: Freeing Yourself from Chronic Unhappiness (Book & CD) :: A Complete Guided Mindfulness Meditation Program from Jon Kabat-Zinn

A great introduction to a number of styles of meditation with simple progression.
Easy to follow and keep up with the program. The audio tracks are like a personal guru in your pocket. Skip the iffy intro chapters as suggested in the book and start the program today.

This book tells you what the therapist did not. I have been in therapy for years because of chronic depression. Not once did any of my therapist tell me about the life skills needed to deal with it. This book gives a clear path to how to handle the problem. It provides exercises to help relieve the problems of depression. It does not replace medication for severe depression, but gives you an aid to less its use. I would highly recommend this book for anyone who has suffered through stress or depression. I used to work 60 to 80 hours a week in a highly stressful job, before I retired. I wished I had read this book then.

This is a must read, especially for people who have never meditated before, but wants to learn. The audio meditation that can be downloaded is superb. My best friend recommended the book and I am grateful. At stressful times (and we all have them), it is very helpful. Also good when we are in our happy times, but worried that something bad is going to happen...

After several months of attending a weekly mindfulness meditation group, this program is helping me make the leap from fitful to daily practice. It's the real deal.
The guided meditation mp3s are very good. I had no problems downloading them and putting them on my smartphone.

Such a great book and easy read. The workbook was very simple yet effective. I definitely recommend the printed version as opposed to the kindle version. I have both but the printed makes more sense as it is a workbook

What a wonderful guided journey into the world of mediation and mindfulness practice. I originally got interested in the idea of mindfulness by hearing a TED talk on happiness, and simply stated people are happiest when they are living in the moment. This book has really changed my perspective on my previous perceptions of meditation being "new age" or simply something that wasn't for me. This books explains how our brain can sometimes work against us when we just need to take a minute and "be". Great read, and having just finished my eighth week of meditations I am very excited to continue my practice in living a mindful existence.

I've been practicing mindfulness for several years. I've read a lot of books on mindfulness and I'm finding this one very useful. I intend to use this with my clients in psychotherapy. Very accessible to those who are not yet familiar with mindfulness and a great refreshing read for those of you who already have a practice. I highly recommend!

I have been using this for three weeks already and it has helped me gain insight about myself and the way my mind works. The meditation practices are short; so they're easy to incorporate into each day.

Most other Mindfulness books I've read ramble on and on with one anecdote after another. This one tightens the focus and offers a detailed 8-week program, chapter by chapter; Not crammed in at the end. More actual practice, less waxing poetic (Kabat-Zinn?). The online audio files were easy to access and download and are helpful during the meditations.

I've always thought of meditation as something that was hard to do or you had to be in shape...what a mistake! Tis is a wonderful book that has helped me understand how to deal with difficult situations and emotions. I highly recommend this.

This is a really helpful book, written clearly and gives a perfect introduction to mindfulness. The eight week programme is easy to follow so long as you just get down to it. The CD with the book is very useful and with the kindle version I was able to download an audio book with the guided meditation on. I highly recommend it.

This is a great introduction to mindfulness. The author gives a solid background to mindfulness followed by 8 weeks of various mindfulness practices. It is a simple way to begin introducing mindfulness into your daily life. The book contain links to recorded mindfulness meditations. I went through this book with a virtual group which had participants who knew nothing about mindfulness as well as others who had some mindfulness practice. It was great for everyone. We meet weekly to support eachother as we practiced. I am getting ready to start another 8 week session with a new group.

I listened to an interview with the authors and was very impressed by his knowledge and directness. I was hoping that the tone of the book would be similar: OK, you want to meditate and bought this book, so here's how to get started. However the first several chapters and much of the rest seem mostly sugar to entice the reader. Lots of anecdotes about Bill and Wendy and Jeff (or similar pseudonyms), how harried there lives are, and their ups and downs when they give mindfullness a try. I realize that a lot of people like this self-help story style. For myself, I would rather just be told directly instead of getting it through the fictionalized comments of fictionalized people.
All that being said, I have started working on the meditations and have hopes of achieving something based on my original reaction to the authors.

This book contains enough scientific research, presented in a way relevant to modern lifestyles, to convince secular readers of the benefits of meditation. It also offers an excellent guide to put theory to practice, so that readers can actually experience those benefits firsthand.
