There is more to writing by dictation than just learning Dragon Naturally Speaking (or some other software package). And figuring it all out can just seem too intimidating. Thankfully, Monica Leonelle has written this brief guide that will get you up and running quickly. She covers it all, from your software options, to equipment recommendations, along with tips to succeed and pitfalls to avoid, all written in a clear conversational tone. If you want to push your words per hour into the thousands, pick up this book.

What a great concept! This book gives DETAILS about how to dictate your writing most effectively. She even includes recommendations on software to use and some "best practices" to make it easier to start dictation. I learned a lot and have started practicing with a dictation app.

Good Book. Concise. I worry about the time I spend sitting typing and the impact on my health. Planning to purchase a Dragon on payday. I understand it will take some time to learn to use it, but the benefits especially for my health should outweigh the pain of learning something new.

Great tips on writing more efficiently and getting over the hurdle of learning new dictation technology. I am so tired of being in front of a screen and glad to find ways to prophecy my poor hands /wrists / arms from too much typing!

A useful, speedy read. Good advice on the type of mic to use, but would have liked more options depending on budget. Easy to read and helpful - has given me renewed willpower to master my own dragon and nail dictation of my writing

I agree that dictating is an efficient and effective way to write, but I don't like Dragon, which is what this book is all about. It slows me down. I use an old microcassette recorder and vintage dictaphone, eliminating the need to slow down and speak creativity-crushing punctuation, etc., while I'm dictating. With Dragon, I could do about eighty words a minute. With a standard dictaphone, I can do one-twenty to one-fifty words per minute. The book's overall point is valid, but Dragon required me to be at my computer. I can carry a microcassette dictaphone anywhere and get so much more done.
