Loved the fight scenes and secondary characters. There are a few clichés in the beginning of the novel, but once past those it picks up pace and is just a joy to read. The novel is a little to long and a few chapters could have been condensed or removed. Because I loved the characters so much, it was easy to get through. Wanted to know more about the alien Interlopers.

An action packed read with enough character development and depth to keep you invested as the plot and keep the story on the rails. It's cheesy, funny, suspenseful, and at times disgusting. There's plenty of violence and blood and guts in this read. I've seen some people complain about the fight scenes being too long, but maybe I just knew what I was getting into when I started it.
I had a great time reading this book and couldn't put it down by the end. I'll be reading the sequel to this book when it comes out.

A well-plotted story filled with well-rounded characters. Life for a freshman in college can be challenging, especially for someone who is considered "different" by others. Well, Eve is definitely different. She possesses a mysterious gift that puts her at odds with society and makes her a lightning rod for controversy, rumors and scandal. I would classify this book as "Science Fiction" with a touch of romance. However, I must say, this isn't your typical romance. The author manages to seamlessly weave the romantic subplot into an action-packed story line in a way that is not off putting to those of us (like myself) that don't usually gravitate to the romance genre. This novel is full of surprises. The climactic scene was so graphic it literally had me wondering if there was something seriously wrong with the author (and I mean that in a good way). Eve is definitely a "must-read" for both women and men. One HUGE dislike: I have to wait for the next one. Why, God? Why!?!
New York Sullivans Spinoff (Summer Lake - Book 2) (Volume 2) :: Hot as Sin (Hot Shots: Men of Fire Book 2) :: Be My Love (A Walker Island Romance Book 1) :: Kiss Me Like This: The Morrisons (Volume 1) :: The Savior's Champion (The Savior's Series)

EVE: The Awakening is a nuanced and action-filled novel with a heroine worth following. Eve shoulders her way through a world of hatred and violence, growing in strength and moxie through every harrowing challenge thrown her way. Her enemies are countless, yet you find yourself trying to determine which is the greatest threat, succumbing to a skilled paranoia conducted by Moreci. Eve's human enemies eerily mirror the extra-terrestrial ones, leaving you wondering which evil must ultimately be defeated for Eve to finally be free. When you think you've finally got it figured out, Eve leads you into the climactic scene, in which you discover how very great the scope of this story really is.
An excellent, enthralling read with a badass heroine who takes no prisoners. Highly recommend.

I loved this book! The characters were original, complex, deep and yet funny too. I especially loved Percy and his mother Alicia. If you like sci fi action with great characters then this is for you. I was sorry when I finished the book because I really loved all of the characters. I hope that there will be a sequel.

This book had me hooked from the beginning and wouldn't let me go until I finished it (actually pulled an all-nighter to finish it). It was so good! The characters were interestingly varied, but not unbelievable. Eve's emotions were believable and not over done. She wasn't little miss perfect, but she wasn't an incessant whiner either. It's was refreshing.

A great adventure with a surprise twist at the end. I'm good at seeing twists, but I did not see that coming, yet when it happened I was like, "OMG! I did not see that coming, but it totally makes sense." Anyway, I feel like I'm being vague, I just don't want to put spoilers in my review for people who are interested.

I love this author's YouTube videos, but she breaks her own guidelines in this story. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice read. But the characters don't match the college setting at all (very mean-girls drama, with words like "balls" and "barftastic"). The storyline is interesting, but it's a bit smothered in unnecessary detail. I loved the actions scenes and the idea is intriguing. I think my hopes were just a bit too high.

I received EVE: The Awakening in exchange for an honest review.
I want to sincerely thank Jenna Moreci for allowing me to read EVE a little early.
The characters, the atmosphere, the story...and back to the characters...all were just spectacular and I enjoyed every minute of this page turner!
The plot is intense and creative, with loopholes and twists around every corner. The villains are snarky and the aliens are disgusting and scary. The supporting cast all have their fun quirks while the dialogue is snappy and seamless. The romance is believable and well balanced with sci-fi action and vivid fight scenes.
And then, Eve, a strong female protagonist who grows throughout the story from a little girl with flaws and crushing fears, into a genuine gutsy heroine. She made me stand up and cheer!

An edge of your seat kind of roller coaster ride. Eve, shunned by society, tries to leave her past behind by going away to school only to learn that she is hated by her schoolmates and hunted by powerful aliens. Along with a small group of friends, Eve puts her "gift" to use assisted by guns, diamond bullets, and a bad-ass tech wizard. What a ride.

Not long ago, I stumbled upon the youtube for Jenna. After watching so many great videos for free, I decided to buy her book. Typicaly, I am not that into sci-fi, but holly balls, the book was great. Loved most of the charecters, Jason being the only one I couldnt connect with. Chapter 11, had me cracking the eff up. More than anything, i loved the pacing, and flow of the book. Not once did I get bogged down, and want to watch tv instead.
Ill keep this short, typing on my phone with my giant sausage fingers isnt working that well.
The juice is certainly worth the squeeze with Eve.

Jenna Moreci's debut sci-fi novel, Eve: The Awakening, is fantastic. It reads as if an ancient Greek Epic Poem merged fluidly with a Michael Chriton thriller, with relatable and humane moments galore.
It's gripping, it's fresh, it's humorous, it's bloody, and it's oh-so-addicting. If you read only one book this year, make Eve it. Every other author pales in comparison.
Honestly I wasn't paid to endorse it, I didn't trade ARC reviews or get seduced by her marketing. I had ample doses of skepticism even opening it up after reading the synopsis. Now, I can't put it down. Read this book.

Eve: The Awakening is the perfect book for those who want human v alien action, a sub-love story, and events that keep you guessing. I was engrossed in the first few pages, being sucked in by Jenna Moreci's fabulous writing style and organized plot. Though the chapters were long, I was not bored at all.
The book is set in the not so distant future, and Jenna has beautifully created an alternate culture that isn't so different from our own, but the vernacular is distinctly different. It's thrilling to read stories that introduce a new way to talk, giving the feel of the future.
The characters are easy to bond with, an understanding could be felt as soon as the first few pages were read. And as new characters were introduced, you could sympathize and relate to them all. This is a refreshing alien invasion story that rivals The Fifth Wave/ The Infinite Sea in surprise factor, action, plot, characters, and overall enjoyment. I would definitely recommend this book to friends. Jenna deserves all the love in the world for her beautifully crafted book!
I do hope there will be a sequel!

This book was practically a vortex: I picked it up, and I was hooked and couldn't put it down. It's that ideal sci-fi that combines novel futuristic elements as well as engaging plot and characters. If you're debating whether or not to give it a read and looking for a sign, this is it. 'Eve' is an awesome blend of realistic emotion that warms your heart and alien fighting that punches you in the face.

SPOILERS!!! I loved it! Best book ever. By far my favorite. I loved the part when Eve went with Jason to play poker. I didn't see it coming when the guy turns into an Interloper! My favorite part other than the climax of course! I loved how Jason was running from the patrolmen and fighting to get the supplies to save Eve. I can only hope the next book has parts of Eve's recovery. I think it would be cool for Jason to have to sit in the hospital room with Eve. SO EXCITED FOR THE SECOND BOOK!!!

It was refreshing to read something so unique. I loved the characters, they each had their own personality and she brought them to life. I have been a huge fan of her youtube channel and I purchased her book specifically to see her advice in action and she did not disappoint. I actually forgot I was supposed to be analyzing because I was so caught up in the story. I'm looking forward the TSC!!

At first glance you might think this novel is quite long (500+ pages), but it definitely doesn't feel long. Action was intense, characters likable -> what more to ask for? I know! A sequel! Or two.

I enjoyed everything about Eve: The Awakening! It was exciting, it was fun, and it was full of action. The witty repartee between the characters, the almost unbelievable (and therefore totally believable) hostility from the Rutherfordians, and a well-paced plot made it easy to read and a joy to finish. Perfect for anyone that loves sci-fi, wry protagonists, and an occasional alien beheading.

Jenna Moreci’s first novel explores serious themes within a Young Adult context, filling her story with an action-packed blend of adventure, science fiction and friendships. I'm very interested to see where she takes the story and her writing next.

Nothing but praise for this book. The main characters amazing, keeping you rooting for them the whole way. The bad guys were deplorable. The plot was original and interesting. The subplots fit in perfectly and kept the story realistic. The tension was thick and had me hooked! Great job, Jenna Moreci!

Honestly, this book was great! I only took 2 days to read it because I just didn't want to put it down. I'm a huge fan of Jenna's vlog on youtube so I had to read the book just because I wanted to see how much her advice related to her own work...and because it sounded really cool and right up my alley.
Overall, the book is very well-written. I LOVE the characters. To be honest, any book that has amazing characters even if the plot sucks, is a great book. The best thing about this is that the characters are amazing AND the plot is fantastic. So the whole thing is really well put together. The characters are really humorous and relatable and realistic. I would want to be friends with them lol.
I love Jenna's style and can't wait for the next book in this series!

Where to even begin? So. Much. Goodness. Stuffed. Into. One. Book. EVE: The Awakening is one hell of a debut by Jenna Moreci. Moreci has brought a fresh take to a new genre that has picked up speed in popularity and demand. The NewAdult genre is mostly saturated with contemporary romance at the moment. There are few sub-genres floating around, and the ones that are, most have not heard of. I believe Jenna is breaking into the market, presenting us a fresh look at the genre and she’s done it very well. It’s brilliant. Her attention to plot, the creative detailed nuggets that wrap up beautifully as the story unfolds, the genuine, relatable dialogue, wonderful humor, deep emotional tragedy, characters you won’t soon forget, and skilled writing; Jenna has put together a masterpiece and tied it in a new shiny bow; NewAdult Sci-Fi.
What’s not to love?
1. Scary, creeptastic aliens that can fly with sharp teeth the length of your entire frame. Holy shnickies, people!
2. Humans that have evolved into stronger, faster, better and gifted versions of their former selves, bruising the egos of the rest of humanity; ergo, outcast Chimeras.
3. Swoon-worthy male lead, giving us a much needed break from the NA alpha male, pounding his chest and demanding. Still protective and ever understanding Jason A. Valentine is exactly what Eve needs. *starry eyes* Chapter eight, yall. Happy hearts all over the place.
4. Girls you love to hate! The tri-bitch-fecta! I don’t need to name them. Once you meet them, you’ll know. I love comparing them to Mean Girls meets Heathers.
5. The plot twists, oh, the plot twists!
6. Humor meets Tragedy. Jenna has a gift of imparting the perfectly timed comedic relief in the most heinous of horrific situations, and you aint even mad about it. If anything, that chuckle that escapes you unexpectedly while you’re in the midst of biting your nails, is just what you needed to help calm the pulse pumping rate of your frantic heart.
What I loved? (in addition to all mentioned above)
I love college setting books—more specifically, in the NewAdult genre—and reading a down to earth—I think there might be an unintended pun there—collegiate setting, with all the out-of-place freshman outcast woes and then toss ALIENS; it was just something I was not expecting and I absolutely loved it.
Eve is a strong, badass heroine who has reason to feel ostracized, hence she’s learned to be an independent lone wolf. Society didn’t really give her a choice. So, what’s left to do other than learn to survive and refuse to be knocked down? Something strong and deadly lies within Eve and she fights it tooth and nail. She wants a fresh start and believes this elite university that actually accepted her poor ass will be the place to do it. As long as she can keep what she is a secret, all should be smooth sailing, right? Wrong. The very things she’s running away from, find her.
We attend classes with Eve and as the semester progresses, the tension and threats grow. Each new band of characters presented in Eve’s life add such fullness to the overall story and environment. You feel as though you yourself have been walking those very halls and gossiped in hushed tones about these characters while leaving the Dining Hall—east of campus—all the way to the Business building—west campus—rushing to get to Dr. Dick *clears throat* I mean, Professor Richard’s “Business Math” class because the man has no qualms about embarrassing you in front of the entire freaking class.
After, you release a sigh of relief while continuing down the hall, glaring at Chin Dimple being a Neanderthal as you head to your favorite class of the day; Professor Clarke’s “Leadership Principles”. Today, he shares about Billington’s history and how, “Necessity Breeds Innovation,” which is why the government built Billington; a place where young minds can be molded into visionaries and pioneers.
Are you still feeling sore from the last “Hand to Hand Combat” class with Captain Ramsey? Well, enjoy the fresh air while you walk further south west towards the Gymnasium/Athletic Center because if tensions are high on campus due to mysterious Interloper attacks, you better believe Ramsey’s gonna up the training, starting off with a nice, long run around that damn, huge football field track. That’s what I get for wanting to be a bad-ass like my favorite book heroines. Perhaps I’ll check out the writing center next semester instead.
Speaking of badass book heroines, move aside Katniss, Eve is freaking kick-ass, snarky, and takes no bulls***. You like bloody, buildings-blowing-up type of action? Eve’s got that too. Plenty of it. Edge of your seat fight scenes and plot twists galore, friends! You’re getting a full on experience and adventure here. What’s best, though this debut is the first to an 8-part series, you’re not left with the “cliffhanger” feel. All the arcs in part one are neatly tied in a bow, yet masterfully left open for SO. MUCH. MORE. TO. COME!
I CAN NOT gush enough about this read. You can even go ahead and read the first three chapters right now, for FREE![...]

When I first came across Jenna Moreci's channel I immediately took a liking to her. She is unapologetically herself, no filters. I like a honest person, then when she said not only was her book releasing soon, but you can read the first three chapters of it on her website, I jumped on it. I love reading, but a lot of times I get in a rut and wind up rereading some of my favorites. Eve the Awakening became one of my new favorites. I love Eve, her power, her development, it was spot on. When I read her story, her finding herself and friends to boot, I was feeling right there along with her. The dialogue and characters that spoke them were the best part.
Depending on how well read you are, you may be able to predict how the book goes along, but that doesn't take away from the enjoyment of reading it. I hate rating systems and giving anything a perfect rating, but I feel Eve: the Awkening deserves it.
