I have been a loyal follower of Rachel Gibson, she's just so awesomely talented. How can you not love her books, full of fun, humor, romance-you just fall in love with her characters and story. I have collected all of her books even though very few were OK, of all her novels "True Love and Other Disasters" has got to be my least favorite it was soooo disappointing I returned it back to Borders it was just not worth keeping, sharing nor worth reading again!!!!!!!!
Since the beginning of this story I could not help but see some kind of similarity with Faith and Virgil with the actress Anna Nicole Smith. Faith is a beautiful blond former Playboy pinup and stripper who met Virgil when she was a "performer" and marries this very wealthy 80+ year old man. He dies and she inherits his hockey team and ensues a nasty battle with her stepson.
Doesn't it seem like you have just seen a glimpse of this story on a show on the "E" channel, "THS (True Hollywood Story) of Anna Nicole Smith". Im not saying it's a parallel (minus the drugs, alcohol, sad loss of her son and of course the tragic end of her life). But you can't help but see some similarity. Anna Nicole was a attractive blond entertainer, former stripper and Playboy pinup. She met this very wealthy 89 year old tycoon (Howard Marshall) when she was a stripper, marries him and he dies. She had that very public battle with Marshall's son over his estate.
I didn't care for the main character Faith. How in the world did she stay married to Virgil for 5 years(was it that long? can't remember)? Wasn't he this rude and mean character we all disliked in "Simply Irresistable". It sure grossed me out when Gibson very briefly (thank goodness!) talked about Faith's and Virgil's sex life-eewwww!!!! I couldn't help picture Howard Marshall's elderly face- ohmygosh I know it's wrong to speak ill of the dead so I'm going to stop here.
I should have given this story a 0/1 star but I gave it 2 stars because Gibson is a gifted writer. It does have her usual good dialogue and witty banter and chemistry between Faith and Ty. The story did lack that built up of chemistry and romance that Gibson is so good at. And some of the dialogue though were not original, it's seems some were taken from her other novels.
Somehow this story just left a bad aftertaste.
Sorry Rachel :( but hopefully your next one isn't as disappointing. I am still a fan and I am looking forward to your next novel.

I struggle to find anything but great things to say about this author, and she is one of the few where I have re-read books. This book is part of her Chinooks series and if you are a fan of SEP's football series you will likely enjoy this too.

This was another great book by Rachel Gibson. I dont know what's up with all the bad reviews but dont pay attention to them. They are just jealous because they think they can do better but of course they can't. Yes Faith and Ty are different characters, but Where's the fun in safe, perfect boring characters? It's always great when she visits the Chinooks! Read this great book, you'll love it! I can't wait until her next book comes out and I hope she makes many more!

This book was fast paced, no dull lags in between chapters. I stayed up most of the night reading it because it was so good. Rachel Gibson writes as though you are the person experiencing the story right along with her characters, Ty and Faith. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys modern day romance stories.

Well, I like Rachael Gibson's works generally. They are like popcorn, light and fluffy and fun. But this particular one was just a waste of time and money. There was nothing original or even remotely creative in this book, and NOT ONE of the characters has any depth.

You want a good bimbo with depth meets grumpy jock sorry? Try "It Had to be You" by Susan Elizabeth Phillips and skip this one-- it's even got a silly little dog.

I love Rachel Gibson. I adore "See Jane Score", another hockey oriented book. This book was a quick read that was temporarily entertaining but made you wonder where the story was. There was minimal character development, especially the secondary characters. Will it join Jane on the keeper shelf? No.

I love Rachel Gibson. I usually find myself laughing out loud and unable to put the book down. This, unfortunately, was not the case for this book. While it was not the worst book I've ever read, it was just not up to her usual standards. See Jane Score was much better.

The plot was too predictable and unappealing. I had a hard time understanding Faith (the main character), or even feel sorry for her. There's really nothing "special" about her. Overall, she's a weak character with no backbone.

Her romance with the team captain is something that you see coming a mile away. Personally, I don't know how or when those two fell in love. It just seemed more like " true lust" rather than "true love".
