Whether you have read the Little House books or have never heard of them, this book on tape is wonderful for everyone from small children to adults. The narrator who reads it does an amazing job of capturing the childhood wonderment and emotions Laura was trying to convey. It is also so interesting to hear the way families lived back in the 1800's. I could listen to this book on tape over and over again.

My dyslexic 5th grader loves the little house series, but especially identifies with the stories of Almanzo's childhood. This book on CD is lovely and now he can listen to it any time he desires if I am not available to read out lout. he can also follow along in the copy of the book we purchased.

This was a gift for my grandaughter. I will eventually get her the full hardcover set. I grew up with these books (still have mine from 60 years ago and I love the stories and have reread them numerous times even as an older adult.

I am really enjoying listening to the cassettes. I have the 'Little House' books, and the entire DVD collection, so you know I would enjoy the tapes, also. I originally purchased them because I have trouble sleeping at night, and thought perhaps they would help me fall asleep. It hasn't worked that way yet. Even though I know most of the stories by heart, I still concentrate on the story, as if I'd miss something. The narrator has a very pleasant voice and it is very easy to listen to. I am glad I made the purchase. It was definitely worth having this for my collection.

It seems that this was considered "dated" by kids born after 1975. I am not sure why, it is a historical (albeit fictional) book. Reading this series always makes me want to cook things from scratch and eat fat back and biscuits.

As a homeschool mom of multiple children I was worried how I would get through this thick book, So I was excited to find the audiobook version. My boys listened to it every evening at bedtime and are already asking if there are more stories.

I have all of the little house recordings now that I purchased this one and one other. I used to play them for my kids when we were in the car driving. My daughter is 15 now but she still loves them. I love them too and wanted to make sure we had our own copy.

The Little House books were the first books I reads when I was a child. How I loved them! It was a sore trial to me to have to return my beloved books to the library. But, I lived in the city and we had many excellent libraries close at hand. Still, it wasn't the same as having my very own. When I got married, I bought a set of paperbacks, which I read and enjoyed once more, but I still yearned for a hard-bound book. Nothing can replace the FEEL of a book in your hands; its weight, the texture of the paper- even the faint, dusty odor that lingers the air as you read. the store has made it financially possible to get my favorite books in hardback. What a magical gift. Thank you to all the sellers out there who give honest descriptions of their products and send things to us all that look like new!

Let's face it, the Little House books are awesome classics! But the Read-Aloud edition gives you imaginations of the family huddled around and enjoying the story together. If you haven't seen the Read-Aloud edition in person, it is a larger hardback format (about 8 1/2 x 11). Looks great, and can be passed on to your grandchildren.
