this is truly a treasury and a treasure - the big book version here gives a child the Big Picture - since little kids love little books their size, i would also get them one of the boxed sets of the little books for them to carry around and read on their own - also consider buying the audio cd so a child can read/listen to the stories over and over but an adult doesn't haven't to read them over and over to them --- and you must watch the dvd of Miss Potter, which was a very special movie in all ways - give yourself the complete Beatrix Potter experience!

Great quality book to handle and the stories are something I dare not criticize in any way given their heritage. My daughter is 5 and maybe it's a little early for some of the more complex stories but there are many and I think it will last for many years.

The stories are as great as they ever were. Furthermore, I really like the inclusion of an introduction to each story, which gives background information for what inspired Beatrix Potter to write each story and tells about what may have been going on in her life when she wrote it. Very cool.

This series of wonderful books were sent to two four year old girls who really love the stories and pictures. Their parents were amazed that Beatrix Potter had written so many stories! They have reported the pictures are fabulous! The whole family is enjoying the books. Another nice feature is the size of the books. They are wonderful for small hands. We sent the books as a gift and I don't believe we could have found one better!

Beautiful book containing all of Beatrix Potter's well-loved tales that have been delighting children and their parents for generations. The stories are classics in children's literature and this book is illustrated with the original drawings for her books. A beautiful gift, I highly recommend it; a real bargain for the price.

Such a gorgeous collection of stories and artwork! This edition is absolutely beautiful inside and out, it even feels good in your hands! I love that it ocmes in a case to keep it safe and from getting bent. The color of the artwork is beautifully restored from older versions I've seen and looks amazing! The stories are so sweet and simple yet full of the adventure young children love! My 6 year old boys and 2 year old girl are enthralled with each story. I love reading them something that has history and is full of beauty--not commercialism! Kids are being dumbed down these days with "kid geared" books and shows that are little more than cheap entertainment. I love the natural beauty of these old books.

This very affordable volume has all of the Potter titles including a few I had never seen before (some of them not published during the author's lifetime). The rabbit stories seem to get the attention when people speak of Potter's work. But for my money the mouse stories are the best: especially "The Tailor of Gloucester" and "The Tale of Johhny Town-Mouse." I hadn't remembered how much all of Beatrix Potter's tales seem to revolve around eating and being eaten. They are in that regard, as in others, an excellent reflection of th e real "lives" of the animals that she dresses and gives words to. The paintings are wonderfully reproduced here and, if the book is much too large and heavy for little hands, it is a very good size for setting on one's lap along with the child who wants a story.

Delightful! It's easy to understand why Ms. Potter's tales and illustrations had a lasting influence on children's literature. They're still fresh and enjoyable today, evoking both one's own childhood memories, with an added flavor of nostalgia for simpler times long, long ago.

We purchased after viewing the fascinating movie 'Miss Potter'
I researched Beatrix Potter's biographical info and found that the movie was quite accurate to it in most respects.
What an inspiring life she led!

This book is wonderful to share with children. It is too heavy for young children to hold but the stories and illustrations are outstanding! When I read this book, I think of how wonderful it would have been to hold young ones on my lap and read to them and discuss the beautiful illustrations. It is one of my favoite books and I am 80. I can hardly wait for the great grandchilren to come so I can share it with them.

Wish I had this book when I was teaching kindrgarten.

I grew up listening to the stories of Beatrix Potter and loving them. Now that I'm an adult I still love them and have been buying many copies of this book to give to my friends who are expecting their own children. The book is of course beautifully written and illustrated and also provides historical information about Beatrix Potter herself, in addition to all of the stories. It is a wonderful children's classic that every home should own.

With a little bit of trepidation, I bought this set as a birthday present for my 6 year old grandson. Now, at his request, we are curling up to read these every night. Whether it is one we have already read or a new book, the Beatrix Potter books are his new favorites. He has lived in a heavily Disney world here-to-fore and I think he must find these treasures to be a relief but, whatever the reason, he loves having the set and getting to choose a special charming adventure every night. We have a few still to read and are both looking forward to them.

This boxed set is really special. The box, or case, is very sturdy and looks great on my grandson's book shelf. He is four and loves to look at the illustrations and to have the stories read to him. This make a wonderful gift that will last a lifetime and hopefully be passed down.

I bought this for our grandson's first birthday and it arrived just in time. It is gift quality, housed in a slip-jacket, and beautifully illustrated. Although, he is too young to appreciate it now, I am hoping he will love it later on as so many other children have throughout the years. It is definitely a keepsake item and would be perfect as a baby shower gift or for a birthday, as we did. I highly recommend this gorgeous book.

Great collection & the price is reasonable, but the book is too heavy for a 3 year old. I would recommend individual books/booklets for the very young. The book construction is somewhat flimsy, so it may not end up being a sturdy hand- me- down.

Being an avid reader myself as a child, I thought it was so important to begin a collection of fantastic books for my baby. This was one of the first on my list, and I'm thrilled with the quality. The illustrations are stunning, as well as the weighty feel of each page and the nice, thick hardcover. Not highlighted in the description was the nifty hardback protective sheath that comes with the book--what a fabulous extra! I know it will be a book my daughter will treasure for many years to come and she will enjoy many bedtimes with this book. I especially liked that it was the complete tales, not just a few Beatrix Potter favorites--it was important to me that I get the "whole collection" of stories when buying a book like this. I'd recommend this book to anyone who values high-quality, heirloom books! You won't be disappointed.

Of all the collections we have, this single book does the best job of presenting all the Potter tales. This version is an improvement from the 1989, original, but I was disappointed to see that it was printed in China. How about find an American printer; we are going to have to pay American wages to American workers to keep our economy strong. We would have been willing to pay a higher price to keep the work in American. Think about it, dear friends.

My child was well acquainted with Beatrix Potter's stories but he had never read them in an unabridged edition before. We bought this item for him to read it back to us, find new vocabulary and give him a successful experience as an independent reader. He loves all the characters and treasures this book.

These stories are timeless and just adorable. I loved them as a child and I'm so excited to be able to share them with my daughter. The book is beautifully done with elegant illustrations that children will enjoy poring over. Adults will enjoy the context that accompanies each story describing the inspiration for each one. but it's much more cost effective to purchase this box versus the books individually. Atleast it was when I bought it. Very cute box which I will actually keep - I intended to toss it, but it's actually pretty nice. If you like Beatrix Potter, this is a good way to have the set!

This Beatrix Potter collection is a beautiful hard-bound book that comes with a cardboard slipcover and has all of the original illustrations. We love it.

Great book. The only caveat I would give is that it is a large, heavy book, so it's not something a toddler or little person will be able to lug around as he or she would a Dr. Seuss book. But, it's all there and great for reading to the children.

I bought these for my own children and just ordered this set for my first grandchild. I just love these classic stories. The box is perfect to keep the books together and dust free, and could be a beautiful accessory to any nursery.
