Basic good information and ideas. A great book for beginners from people who have carried for years. Helps you avoid some common pitfalls, and the problem of having a box full of holsters before you get the right one for you.

While I am not planning on getting concealed carry permit this book offers much insight into reasons for carrying a weapon, along with myriad recommendations with regard to safety, gear, and skills. Ayoob is an entertaining and experienced writer. A good read, overall.

Has been a very informative book. The first half of the book kept my attention the most, I just kept wanting to read it. The second half didn't so much as it is pretty much about holsters. Not that the second half wasn't interesting or not worth while, just didn't keep my attention. Found it best to read a piece of the second half each night before bed. I seemed to be able to take it in better a piece at a time. I figured if half of the book is pretty much about holsters it must be a very important part of concealed carry and should be taken serious. Enjoy!

Mr. Ayoob opened my eyes to more than just carrying a concealed weapon. His insite to the mentality of carrying a concealed weapon is amazing. While I haven't finished the book, what I have read has changed my thought prosses about carrying. The way you think, the weapon you choose to carry, how you choose to carry it, were just a few of the eye openers that has changed my thinking.

Thought provoking writing Mr. Ayoob. Great recommendation by my son!

This is an excellent book for those considering, or already licensed to carry a concealed weapon. The sections about liability and consequences are particularly good. The only reason I didn't give it a "5" is because the reproduction quality on the pictures isn't real good. Other than that, I highly recommend it.

I consider this a companion book to Massad Ayoob's "Deadly Force". You will read no better resource than this detailed and foundational book on concealed carry. Purchase it, read it, and carefully obey it. Thank you Mas for your sharing and giving all of us sound, practical, and valuable advice and suggestions.

This book by the master of citizen concealed carry is a must read for anyone who is thinking of getting a CHL. Read this book before applying. A lot of good insight about commitment, choice of ammo/firearms and concealment. The author is very knowledgeable about the legal aspects concerning post-incident shootings and what to do.

A fairly concise, although slightly out of date, given all the anti-gun politics going on, reference book. The technical stuff is very informative and should be required reading for anyone owning or considering purchase of a handgun.

Mas is a walking encyclopedia of knowledge. I have not completed this book yet, but it very good. It seems to be written so each chapter stands on its own. He has also written other books, which he may promote a bit too much, but it doesn't seem like there is much overlap.

Massad F. Ayoob has a daunting name but impeccable credentials.
The first section which he calls "Software" (and we computer types would call "Wetware) is the must read section. In it he discusses not only why we should carry a concealed weapon, but the burden this places on the person who does so in terms of behavior patterns, self-contol and legal liability. He also discusses some of the thinking behind the irrational fears behind the call for abolishing guns in the name of Control.
His writing is clear, concise and easy to read.
