This an essential book for all who possess a firearm, in particular those who have concealed carry permits. Massad Ayoob is unquestionably among todays premier experts in the handling and use of firearms. Ayoob's ethics, truthfulness, patriotism, and expertise are clear and solid. This is up-to-date with a 2014 copyright. I highly recommend this book!

THE expert. Well written. Any single chapter is worth the price alone. Most highly recommended to any home or gun owner. I'll probably also get and read his earlier classic tome, "In the Gravest Extreme", as dated as that one may be.

This is an absolutely must read for anyone who actively carrying a concealed weapon now or thinking about it in the future. It is a very easy read and the author's experience in the subject is obvious. The book is a perfect complement to any concealed weapons carry class.

Very good book for someone that uses a firearm for self defense, whether in a home or for concealed carry. Ayoob does an amazing job of giving you the information you need to successfully keep within the law in the case of a justified shooting.

I have been reading Massad Ayoob's works since the early '80's. I have also attended the great majority, if not all, of his classes around the country. This book is once again another example of his attention to detail and many years of accumulated experience and knowledge. A good read, and full of relevant information for anyone serious about personal safety. I highly recommend this book. If you want to know what is needed to help you survive both levels of survival, street and court, this and his other works are a must read.

Understanding your right to self-defense is very important. There are so many examples of court cases in this book you won't put it down. Then think how all that could also happen to you. Very good book and a must read for conceal carry license holders or homeowners with guns they may have to use for self-defense. Do you know what will happen when you pull the trigger?

Having attend a MAG20 classroom I can say that this book gives the reader a glimpse of what the first 10 hours off the class is like. Mas does a great job of taking very complex issues of the law and breaking them down into understandable means for the non lawyer speaking folks.

Mas provides tons of good information in a well written and easily understood manner. The content is extremely well laid out and presented. It's obvious that Mas Ayoob is an excellent e plenty teacher.

If you think there is anything simple about a self defense shooting then you are playing with your life and your families future. You have to understand what you are facing after using your weapon. This book will help you to start preparing for the world of hurt that follows.Even if acquitted, it could take months and thousands of dollars. Do yourself a favor and buy the book. Better yet, attend one of Ayoobs course on the topic.

This was a very good (and compact) summary on the theory and practice of what to think about before finding yourself in a deadly force situation. I enjoyed the straight information, but particularly enjoyed the author using real cases as examples for illustration. That style of teaching is very effective.

Massad is THE Authority and I love reading his real world insights. I'm hoping to get the chance to train with him this Summer...Mass if you read these...your site says that Saratoga Springs, NY dates for 2015 are pending...Please firm them up I want to go!!!

Another great read from Ayoob. Material that could be dry is kept interesting by way of personal stories and information. I read this book in 2 days and I will be reading it again. Every time I reread a book by Ayoob I get more out of it.

I would give this book Five stars. Mr. Ayoob goes in depth into the real world experiences he has had with the inevitable consequences that follow any situation in which a legal gun owner is forced to use a weapon in self defense. There are frequent warnings about improper use of force. I bought this book to become more informed, and it delivered.

Lots of very good information that you should know before you carry a gun for self defense. There are a lot of legal aspects to think about in the event you have to use your gun. This book brings up things that I never thought about. Carrying is the responsible thing to do but it is not something that should be taken lightly.

Mossad Ayoob is one of my favorite writers. He is clear and understandable, telling you what you need to know in plain English, then backing up his recommendations with examples from cases that have happened. I do wish that all of his books were available in the "Kindle" format!
