A friend recommended this book to me. I had never read this author before. Well I started reading in the evening and could not put this book down. I would recommend this book and this author to anyone who enjoys a great murder mystery. I will be reading all of this author's work.

I have enjoyed Stuart Woods and his character Stone Barrington through many books but had not read this edition until now. It explains many questions I have had in the progression of the character. I am enjoying this book a lot.

Good and entertaining. A time passer. Loved the short chapters for some reason. I will read othe Wodds- novels in the future. I recommend for reading during air travel and waiting in airports.as plot is easy to follow and can support interruptions and distractions.
Savage Rising (Redemption Harbor Series Book 2) (Volume 2) :: A New Day Rising (Red River of the North Book #2) :: Fire and Steel, Volume One: A Generation Rising :: Slade House (Thorndike Press Large Print Basic Series) by David Mitchell (2015-11-04) :: Dirt (Stone Barrington Book 2)

This was a very gripping story. I enjoyed watching how the main character came alive in this story. I enjoyed the plot and storyline. I found the book very hard to put down. I will certainly read more books by Stuart Woods.

Stone Barrington is always a delightful read. I often wonder how any writer can continually come up with more stories without duplicating the previous ones. Do believe that the Barrington series would make for some good movies or a TV series.

This was the first - and probably last book I'll ever read by this author. I have to admit that it is a page turner, with memorable characters but that's about it! Definitely nothing to write home about.

Other than every stand-alone mind-twister by Dan Brown, I'm a sap for Character-Ensemble series. Woods' New York Dead hit pay-dirt instantly. My first love was the entire Dirk Pitt series, then Harry Bosch, Alex Cross, Oliver Stone, aka, John Carr, Lindsay Boxer, etc--ALL page-turners...never skipped one book in the series

This first Barrington Stone novel went so fast that I bought the next 5 Kindle editions for our upcoming one-week vacation. Can't think of anything better than a beachfront, a good cigar and Stuart Woods' Stone-Ensemble.

First book by s woods & excellent read. All in 1 book; nypd guy goes from current to retired to attorney. Book keeps your interest & plot weaves scenario after another with some sex scenes in between !

I was attracted to this book because of the title and thought it sounded interesting. However, it just plodded along and only got really interesting near the end with the twists and turns. This book needed some more excitement.

My husband reads Stuart Woods novels all of the time, so I tried this one and liked it. Woods does a good job of creating a plot that is interesting, but the conclusion is not completely obvious. I don't like mysteries in which you can guess the ending well before you have read the entire book.

This was actually the first Stone Barrington book...I read Dead in the water first and fell in love with Stone and started at the beginning and started reading in order. It is so nice to see the evolution of this character!!! He gets better and better as do all the re- occurring characters !!

Although I have just started reading Stuart Woods books, this was a great start. My husband is a fan so that is why I got this one. Now I will try to read them from the beginning. He has so many twists and turns in his books.

Stone Barrington is another character you fall in love with like Reacher, Alex Cross and Daniel Silva's Gabriel Allon...more sophisticated and polished, Barrington is another smart, savvy thinker. You will love this series...in two weeks I ordered 8 of his books!

Unconventional character. Stone is enjoyable to read, grapples with many issues but survives. He is believable and characters are well rounded. This is my first Stone Barrington book. I'll read more and hope it will fulfill the first book's promise.

I like & have read all of the Stone Barrington novels except for his new one which I will be reading shortly. Some are more exciting than others, but especially like when he mentions places in CT. & FL. where I have lived.
Keep up the good writing Stuart.
My father who passed away a few years ago could hardly wait to read his books when they came out.
So we are big readers of Stuart Woods (Stone Barrington Novels).
Thank you.

I had been introduced to Stuart Woods books a few years ago, well into the series. Now. I'm going back to the beginning and enjoying the history immensely. As with all his subsequent books, this is a real page turner.

A close friend recommended this series to me and so far I love it. When books are in series I like to start from #1 and work my way up. This was an awesome start. I can't wait to start #2 after I finish the novel I'm reading by another author.

Very good story line. Keeps you guessing until the last chapter. I couldn't figure out who did it and usually I have no problem figuring out. I have a list of Stone Barrington books in sequential order an d plan on reading them all!

There can never be enough detective novels set in NYC for my taste (I could be bias since I live here). After reading this book I can say that I look forward to reading the rest of the Stone Barrington series. This book is very well written and the story was very enjoyable. Of course the most important thing was the the story flowed, the pages kept turning.
