Loved the series--I teach about pioneers in my third grade classroom, so this was right up my alley. :) Because it's a series, you get a lot of reminders about the past experiences of the characters, and the author gets better and better about not including as much of the past with each novel in the series.

I love reading these historical serials! I learn so much about how our great country was founded by the many different nationalities. If only everybody could learn about how hard these people worked to settle out great nation!

I love the details of everyday life, the trials, and triumphs of an immigrant family that settled a homestead. What I particularly like about it is the way Snelling intertwined God, faith, and family throughout the novel. Great read. Can't wait to read the next in the series.

When you think things could not get worse they do and then Lord shows his plan. You can feel what these women feel. I love being able to read beautiful, well written, spiritual fiction. Thank you Lauraine!

Another great work in the Red River series by Lauraine Snelling. A combination of history, romance, and even a bit of suspense that keeps the reader wanting to see how everything will turn out for the Bjorkland family.

Fascinating details of life in soddy housing and barns as well as how the pioneers used the parts of deer for hides and the parts of pigs for a variety of food. True description of the winters from m experience living in North Dakota.

Picking up from book #1 in this series, Snelling seamlessly continues the story. New characters and unexpected events make this book just as good, if not better than the first. Can't wait to begin book #3!

Heartwarming continuation of a families life as homesteaders in the Dakota Territory. I started with the first book in the sRed River of the North books and didn't stop until I had read all six of them.

I purchased the 1st book of the series and enjoyed it so much that I couldn't wait to order the 2nd book. A heartwarming story about the early settlers and their struggles against the elements. I only wished that the
author had given a translation of the words presented in the original dialect.

I enjoyed following the story of the Bjorklund family through the joys & sorrows of life on the prairie as Norwegian immigrants. Since my own great grandparents emigrated from Norway in this same era, I was fascinated with how their faith in God sustained them through multiple losses.
