So many times as I read this book, I had to stop & put it down. What Tuesday went through was beyond what my mind could handle. This is by far, one of the best books of this type, that I have ever read.

Thank you for sharing your life with us!!! Bearing your life in such an honest way. Your story once again reinforces my need to want to help children. The signs are always the same and everyone turns a blind eye. IT HAS TO STOP!!!!!!!

This is based on a true story about the authors abuse suffered at the hands of her mother after suffering a frontal lobe brain injury that changed her mother's personality. The things this little girl endured are horrendous, far worse than imaginable. I loved her vivid details and read it way into the night as I often couldn't put it down.
If I Did It: Confessions of the Killer :: The Initiate (Kindle Single) (Divergent Series-Collector's Edition Book 2) :: King's Cage (Red Queen) :: Ash Princess :: A mother’s cruelty. A daughter’s survival. A secret that couldn’t be told.

Very emotional story that had me in tears. What a horrendous childhood. I am so amazed and thankful that the author was able to put her experience into words. The story had me gripped from the start. It kept me up until the early hours of the morning.

During the years I taught middle school special education, I got to know and work with many children who were physically, emotionally, and sexually abused. Tuesday’s story brought back many of those painful memories.
Thank you Ms. Byrne for so skillfully describing Tuesday’s unbelievable and devastating life and her mother’s mental illness, and the father’s weakness to allow it to happen.

A heartwrenching account through the eyes and thoughts of a child desperate for her Mother's love and acceptance. A dysfunction family where each person plays a part in abuse. Tuesday's ability to cope and survive is intriguing.

Great book, making for a very interesting read. I only gave it 4 stars because it was kind of hard to grasp whether or not it is a true story and I felt that things were left out, like she skimmed over some important events. I know there is a second book that I guess goes along with this story. I'll read it after I read something light hearted.

The cold heart truth is always the best I envy the author for going in such detail(which made this book so real),for her to not hold a grudge and still maybe wanting a relationship with the ones her hurt her so much and her father of all people.just when you thought someone would help and never did.I would like to know the status about herself and relationships now a days, hands down one of the best memoirs I've read.

Number one this book is pretty sad. Tuesday was blamed for the death of her older sister. This can really scare a kid for life. But even though she wanted her older sister to die until she actually got to met the girl and become friends with her. Resides that Tuesday is just a normal girl. Her mother could of freaking killed her. And Tuesday was so scarred mentally. It's really heart wrenching.

A heart wrenching story of abuse that you cannot believe really happened. How can a mother treat her daughter like that? It is hard to accept the truth, but in the end she must move on and start her own beginning

This book I found searching for child psychology. We were asked to read a book that fit in this category. I had no idea what I was getting myself into by reading this book. It pulled on so many different emotions and thoughts. This book is a tough read but so amazing and beautiful at the same time. Reading about the lives of others is such a eye opening experience,

This was such a sad story. There were to as I questioned the truth of it, but as it went along I could better understand the reasoning that caused the writers reaction. Excellent read. Off to read thee sequel.

This book was very well written and flowed smoothly. There were times I wanted to jump in the book and strangle the mother for what she was doing to her child. I found myself angry with the father, son's, school officials. How can NOBODY not say anything! Some things were so horrible you couldn't believe they could possibly be real. I just can't understand how someone could do this to their own daughter....crazy.

I didn’t quite understand if the mother’s abuse was from her fall but she was savvy enough to be able to fool cps? Also why wouldn’t other family members step in to remove this child from this monster and get her help,

We all a want a happy ending, but their is always a catch. For Tuesday it meant letting go. My troubles and woes are no where near this magnitude so I'm in awe of her ability to let go. Hugs and more hugs from me to you

The book was very good and detailed throughout, I got lost in Tuesday's world. I was in tears sometimes BUT I had to give this book 3 stars because the ending was so frustrating to me. I didn't like it all, I felt like there needed to be consequences.

Great book. Between this story and the last few books I've read, (including The Girl With No Past: A gripping psychological thriller and Long Blue Line: True Crime (Popular in Books, Free with Prime)) I'm back into reading full-throttle. I haven't dedicated myself to reading in quite a few years, and I am excited to have a hobby that takes me away from the busy world.
This was a sad story and unfortunately it is also a reality for many people. I commend the author and this was overall a great read.

I'm bawling my eyes out and I want to punch Tuesday's mother until she is a puddle of blood and piss.
Her father deserves to be sliced to pieces to choose his own happiness over his wellbeing.
Tuesday forgave too easily.

I have not come across many books dealing with the issue of Pica. This doesn't delve to deeply into the disorder but does touch on it.
Not particularly an uplifting book as it deals with trauma and abuse, it was a good read especially if you are interested in psychology.

This was a very sad story and I couldn't help but think about my own daughter as I read about Tuesday. Although my daughter does not have to deal with anyone with a mental illness it made think about how difficult and confusing it must have been for Tuesday to deal with her mother's mental illness and the resulting abusive behavior. Very well written and compelling story that you will not be able to put down until you finish.

I give mad props to any survivor of child abuse that lives to tell about it. She then wrote it for the world to see/hear. Kept me engaged. Few typo/editing issues. It nothing major enough to drop a star.

This book is heartbreaking but eye-opening. It falls in the same genre of "A Child Called It"and explores the life of an emotionally and physically abused child. It was difficult to read at points just because of the upsetting content.

Learned a lot of new stuff in this story. This had a different perspective on why abuse happens. Kinda new that head injuries could do this.......but wow!! Could not believe the dad in this book. He has NO excuses. I do not feel sorry for him in the least. It's sad that this is based on a true story.

Tuesday was innocent and deceived by those that were supposed to love her and keep her safe. I felt helpless for her and frustrated when she wasn't able to describe her reality in a convincing way. She had opportunities to save herself and didn't. It was heartbreaking each time her efforts failed. I had a hard time putting this book down even though my heart broke for her.

Call Me Tuesday is the story of a mother and daughter. Tuesday is the daughter and she must deal with her mother's mental illness and the resulting behavior which is abusive to say the least. As I read the book I couldn't help but get a little bit attached to Tuesday and her plight, how any young child can go through something like this is beyond me. I had to keep reading until I reached the end because I wanted to know what would become of Tuesday, her mother, their relationship and Tuesday's future.

This was a hard read in terms of the violence and gross descriptions of abuse. The story was overwhelmingly sad. At times the writing was boring. However, as the narrator is a young girl, I could overlook the lack of strength in the writing style. I'm not sure I would recommend it to a friend.

The book has a good read, l felt so sorry for the little girl throughout the book. I can't believe that no one could put a stop to the abuse that Tuesday was going through. I think her Dad should have stood up to the Mother and put a stop to all the strange things going on.

I couldn't put this book down, very captivating and extremely heartbreaking. I don't think I've ever cried this hard and this much while reading a book before. While I'm happy that she was able to overcome all the hateful and evil things her mother did to her over the years, I CAN'T. I don't even know this woman and I can say I honestly hate her. How can people do this to others? Just so sad.

I've co!e to call myself a "trauma junkie". I'm always drawn to stories of addiction, mental illness, abuse, etc. It has to be a form of masochism. By the sheer number of books in this genre, I can't be the only one. This book was exactly what I expected when I selected it: sad, horrific, and everything worked out in the end. The descriptions of the abuse that Tuesday experienced were both sickening and riveting. But the book was also almost exactly like any other I've read in this genre. I think that says more about me than the book.

Her story was very tragic and she writes in a style that helps draw the reader in. Finished it in 2 days because I couldn't put it down! Also love her next book. Although this book was difficult to read, I really liked how the author rose up out of the shell she had become and prospered.
It's hard to believe this kind of thing happens but it is a reality and when someone can print their words to help others, that is the ultimate act of kindness.

What a horrible childhood this child had! I started reading and knew there was no way I could close this book until I knew the ending. Thank God She had a loving aunt and grandmother who she experienced love.

I enjoyed this book. The narrator did a wonderful job telling the story on Audible. As I listened to the book I felt like I was listening to a movie or show. She played all the characters so well. Tuesday has such courage and thank you for sharing your story with others. Its a reminder for me when you see a child out there that shows any sign of abuse we need to report as a community. So many people turned their back on her and that is what is so sad.

As a student of social work this book truely provides insight into the lives of many families. The story of Tuesday brings forth the feelings of invisibility, numbness, and a deep longing for parental love and acceptance. This book was very difficult to read however it took me only a few hours. Page turner and heartbreaker. I celebrate the life Leigh was able to create even from such despair. Also, as a girl who grew up in the same area this book reveals some of that syrupy southern "charm" we have come to love and hate.

A heart wrenching story of mental illness and abuse. It took me back to my own childhood which wasn't nearly as bad but was still pretty tough. It made me think about others and myself. I'm always a little confused when things say they are "based" on a true story-does that mean some things are fiction and some things are true? Anyways-if any of the things that happened in this book really happened to this girl, that is really really sad and disturbing, especially since no one at the school she went to alerted the authorities. Book is just disturbing in general and I'm not sure I would recommend it.

I read the entire book waiting for the page where Tuesday would be free from her mother. when it finally came I was so happy for her that she would have a real chance at life. but the ending at the gravesite and the birthday party?! Call Me Tuesday is the sad tale of a young girl named Tuesday. Her mother is mentally ill and Tuesday must deal with her and all of her mother's abuse. I was instantly drawn into this story and to Tuesday because of her situation. With everything that is out in the open in today's world, mental illness is still something of a taboo and many people don't care to learn about it, instead they choose to make fun of anyone with a mental illness and this story brings to light the tragedies that can occur do to our ignorance of this disease as a society and as individuals.

Although there are many gut-wrenching scenes where I wondered what was wrong with the people that were supposed to protect this little girl, the book takes you into the mind of a little gir who's terribly abused. Having been a victim of child abuse myself, this book really tugged on my heart strings. I lived with it for 7 years before working up the courage to finally tell someone, and ask for help, I had to have my siblings and myself free of all the torment. This isn't a book for the faint of heart...the fact is child abuse is a huge issue that often goes unresolved, and many parents walk free from it. This was a great read however, I found myself constantly emphasizing with the writer...hoping that she'd so be free.

It is difficult for most people to fathom a mother not loving her own child. Most people are more comfortable believing it is an exaggeration, untrue, or the child some how must have just been bad and undeserving of being loved. I am glad she had her grandmother and aunt to show her love and affection.

If your own flesh and blood daughter is clearly being abused this way by your wife and you do nothing about it, you are not a man. Tuesday's father is even more reprehensible than her mother. I'm ill to death of reading these autobiographies of grown people abused by their mothers with fathers who did NOTHING about it. There are no words to describe the shame these "men" should feel at not being able to control their spouses and take responsibility for their precious children. This is the last of these types of biographies I read.

I hate to doubt anyone who claims to be abused as a child, as I work with abused children, but there are certain elements in this story that I question. I have read most of the books in this genre, and there are some accounts that sound more likely to have happened than others. That's not to say some parts of the story aren't true, but I really question some of this account. Even books like A Child Called It, have been questioned as far as veracity of the entire story. Other reviewers have brought up the same questions, so I won't go into them, but if you want a read a really well-written story in this genre read The Field Guide to Betrayal. The writing in this book, Call Me Tuesday, wasn't bad compared to others, I mean some don't even have suitable punctuation. I prefer the other book I mentioned, TFGTB, as the child is definitely of a survivor mentality. Where some of these books are great for calling attention to abuse, they tend to make you wonder what is fact and what is fiction. I realize memoirs are the recollections of people and they can differ based on who in the family is telling the story. Regardless, kudos to the author for bringing attention to a sad topic.

I'm sorry..it seems this woman went through horrific abuse, but jumps from details of the abuse, right into a happy ending. Her mother was disturbed, and in one chapter the mother is cold, cruel, and seemingly has agoraphobia and then the next chapter, the moms a nurse and all is well. Huh?
It is the bare bones of a story, with no answers and I can't begin to imagine the anger she has towards her brothers. Glad this was free..not worth paying for. Sorry.

I really feel so badly for this little girl but I also admire her the strength she had to assert to make it through the abuse was very inspirational I really admire her for writing this book it would be very hard to do but as I stated she is and was a very courageous girl....

This is an excellent book. No child should be all but abandoned by those who love her. We as adults have a social responsibility to pay attention.
Very well written, it's almost like reading the Tuesday's thoughts as she grows from 8 years old into a confused young adult. I loved it and highly recommend it.

This book is a sad reality of what is happen in some of or homes today. I loved. This book because it went into the feels of not just Tuesday but her entire family. I didn't like that Tuesday always was the one feeling heart broken. Overall I feel that I would recommend this book to anyone.
