this product arrived as described and pretty quickly. It has been a while since i read it, so i dont remember if it was any good, but i needed it for a class-so i probably found it annoying more than anything.

This book is a compelling and engrossing adventure. Complex and introspective, it pits the arbitrary power of a vicious, but intelligent, captain against the weak but principles ship wreck victim he plucks from certain death on a whim.

I was bamboozled. Can I give a 'no star' review? I almost opted for a different version of this book, but the reviews swayed me, especially about the 'usefulness' of the notes and indices and 'scholarliness'. Not only are they nonexistent in this book, I got something that looks like it came off someone's printer and bound by some knock-off publisher. It's 8.5x11 with a glued binding, and only 1/2" thick. So much for the experience of sitting back with a good book in your lap. I didn't return it because it's going to a friend I've been telling to read it for years and I didn't think I had time to exchange it before giving it. I'm embarrassed to give this but I'll be forgiven. I truly expect friend to toss this once read. What a shame, too. This story merits more press than London's dog books.

Great personal story of people who struggle with life. Good character development. Netflix has a movie of it too now! GREAT MOVIE too! Jack London is rich in his skills. The older I get the more I respect other people's accomplishments .Sincerely and respectfully bruce

I didn't get very far into this
book because
the formatting was all screwed
up. Someone
forgot to cut out all the new-
lines.

I'd go to project gutenberg,
download the
.mobi file, save the dollar and
get proper
formatting.

Nobody spins a better sea story than Jack London and "The Sea-Wolf is one of his best. Not only is it an amazing adventure tale, but it gives readers a glimpse into the very soul good and evil through the characters of Hump and Wolf Larsen. Good stuff!

Well written as usual for Mr London, My problem is with the implausibility of the story line. A journalist falls overboard and is picked up by a pirate who loves the same literature...Later they pick up another "floating" author that first overboard author adores. Fun read anyway!

I felt significant portions of the book were tedious reading; London attempting to impress readers with his knowledge of maritime terminology, and what seemed like filler material. You immediately realize he is writing about something he knows.

I wished at times that he had left more to the imagination. He spells-out everything, detail by detail.

At its essence "The Sea Wolf" is one hell of a good adventure and worth a quick read.

This book had amazing characters and character development! A dazzling adventure, on of the best books I've read in a long time. It's definitely one of those books I'm loathe to finish because I don't want to say farewell to all those that I've met on the journey.

I absolutely love this book! It def left me wanting more. I love Jack London's style and he brought the world of sailors to life. The characterization is really what stands out in this book. All are distinct complex people.

To be fair you have to stick with the first few chapters as he sets the stage. But believe me it is well worth it, because as it unfolds you will not want to put it down.

It would be great. Wolf Larsson is a fantastic antagonist. And the narrator is the fish out of water to whom Larsson can confess all of his sins. Set aboard a whaler in the early 20th century, it had all the makings of an updated Moby Dick. But the forced romance, and its ungodly likelihood of occurring, ruin the authenticity of the moment and drag the story down. Coupled with the long, long demise of Larsson, it's clear that London went off the rails to give his survival of the fittest story a human touch, a commercial appeal, and it compromised the story almost to the breaking point.

If you didn't read this masterpiece in high school or college, read it now. Jack London deftly takes you on an amazing journey of self-discovery and an in-depth look at our humanity and the complexity of our psyche. Beautifully expressed! Definitely a five-star read!

London's man against the elements work is enjoyed by all of his readers. "The Sea Wolf," however, is a far more compelling story of the nature of man. Any lover of sea stories will find this one of the most masterful of its genre. I believe this is a masterpiece of character development as well as a sea story, however, and Wolf Larson is one of the great characters of literature.
