Incredible adventures. From the movie ads boot, this adds additional details of what really happened and how dense the US Navy was on defeating the threat. I would think that turning off the lights after an attack would the least that could be taken.

I first read "Grey Wolf, Grey Sea" forty years ago as a senior in high school. Reading it again now, I see why I was so taken with the story. What really makes this historical account outstanding is the marvelous, effortless prose of the author. I have been a voracious reader all of my life, in all genres, and I have rarely if ever encountered an author who could carry the reader along the way E.B. Gasaway does. By all appearances, "Grey Wolf, Grey Sea" is the only book Mr. Gasaway ever penned, and that is truly a shame.

P.S.: The one reviewer who claimed the book is "boring" must surely reside on another planet.

Great story covering a German U-boat and its extraordinary leaders and crew. The rich narrative from survivors collected soon after the war adds details to the misery, fear and horrible conditions these sailors were exposed to. As an added perspective, the "ruthless" killers showed compassion with their victims as a side bar to their atrocities. It is a well written account of submarine warfare during WW II.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I downloaded it from the history category and assumed it was factual only to find at the end of the book a disclaimer that it is a work of fiction. I do enjoy historical fiction but as a customer prefer to know that from the start

Very well written and researched. I appreciated the historical perspective of the German Sailors and Captains who were, in their minds, doing their duty for their country. You could tell however that killing so many souls at sea weighed heavily on most of them especially when they were forbidden by their superiors to rescue any survivors of their brutal attacks. I appreciated the historical point of view from the "other side".
