This book captures you from beginning to end! From captain Spence to our Bella Beau the characters seem like old friends. Once you start reading you will be lost in a world of ocean, ship, and a rich part of history. If you are looking for an escape this is the book for you! I am buying the next book right now. Happy reading!

I'm a skeptical romance reader. This one is pretty good. Nice and delusional yet pleasantly rambunctious and saucy. I mean there's a healthy dose of gloss to make it work with the lady on the ship but who cares. Dante is hot. Lady is kinda cray but has smart as a redeeming quality. Good banter and tension and endearing. Aw! That is all.

This is by far my favorite pirate novel and believe me I've read them all. My other favorite is also written by Marsha Canham and it's called "Bound by the Heart." "Across a Moonlit Sea" is thrilling and very well written. The details, the characters, and the battles make this book feel very real. Simon Dante and Beau are believable characters with very real reasons for wanting to stay away from one another. Beau is a strong female character and she was written in a time when strong female characters weren't as popular as they are today. Swooning females and ravaging pirates were more the norm when "Across a Moonlit Sea" was written and few seam to give the author credit for a strong female character that actually saves the guys life through out the novel. And yet Beau continues to be feminine in all the right ways to Simon Dante and his interest in her doesn't seem forced by the author. The only romance I probably could have done with out is Pitt and The Duchess however they are background characters and don't take away from the story of Beau and Dante.

I am not generally a reader of romance novels and came across this one in an adventure category. I found it to be a very good read. The characters were well developed and fit the era they were cast in.

I love characters with bite, and Beau is a powerful heroine whom I love only a little less than Simon Dante, the dashing pirate wolf who initially commandeers Beau's ship and threatens her life, but begins to feel grudging admiration and respect for the bold girl. The character development is amazing and the tension and chemistry is all too real. I was hooked from the first chapter and it's taken a toll on my sleeping habits, but the story flows so well that it's too hard to put down.

This book was good, and the author must have done alot of research, and had alot of knowledge about ships, and battles. The story line was very good. I loved both characters, and they came to life on the pages. However...I almost stopped reading this book very early into it. The author was very offensive in some of her remarks regarding the thoughts, and sayings of the characters. I don't believe it was necessary to use remarks such as "Jesus Christ on a stick" or using Christ's name in such a manner while trying to portray a pirate. I think there are many other sayings and remarks that could have been used to portray a pirate, without being so offensive, and almost Athiest in her writing. I had to grit my teeth at some of her remarks and comments during conversations, and thoughts of the characters. It just was not necessary in my opinion. This is the reason I gave this book only 3 stars. I would have given it a 5 had it not been for some of the offensive remarks made in this author's writing.

An unexpected treasure. A fantastic book of adventure, naval warfare and epic romance. I really enjoyed the nautical descriptions and historical facts. Few such authors can really keep you captivated and entranced to the very end. The characters were convincing and real enough to fall in love with. It was with a sad sigh I said farewell to my new found friends at the end. I almost wished it would go on forever.

This book kept my attention the entire time, I couldn't put it down until I finished. The story line keeps you on your toes and makes you want to run out and buy the other two just to finish the adventure of the dantes. It was phenomenal!

Really enjoyed this book. Haven't read a good pirate book in many years. This was worth the wait. Great characters, great romantic suspense, and great detail on the skirmishes. Can't wait to read the next one.
